- A Royal Marine squadron has swapped Faslane naval base for the open country of the Sennelager Training Ranges in northern Germany. Exercise Deutsche Strike is a test of troops' live firing and close-quarter battle skills, that are essential in their complex working environment.

Jordan Boyle some of the paras do as well, if you're doing secret stuff with subs or halo jumps they give you the more reliable weapon

The Senne Training Area is very well managed for both military training and its natural environment, so it would be great if we could retain this excellent facility in Germany for many years to come.

Jim7115 was never in the USMC and if he/she had been they were kicked out during training. I have worked with a lot of Leathernecks and they would never slag a real Bootneck, as we have to much respect for each other. It always seems to be trolls who have never served that come out with all this rubbish on forums as they just want people to think that they are something special.

Fantastic that they are using the M4 or Canadian C-8s. They are handy if you have to shoot left handed because of the brass deflector around places if you have to switch shooting positions.

You can only train at the same facilities so many times before you become used to the layout - encouraging you to be more lazy during training there due to the lack of surprise, All tactical value is lost in this element. Moving training to a fresh facility many of the lads haven't seen before, allows us to continue to hone skills and stay sharp.

Naan Wookie L85 is to be fazed out in 2025 so the marines changes early also the top receiver bends over time from use because of how thin it is.
The A3 variant is going to be released to take the SA80 through 2025... These marines have changed to the M4 because they are the Fleet protection group (basically special forces)
Naan Wookie They aren't M4's they're C8 carbines. This royal marine squadron has got them specifically for defending HMNB Clyde. The SAS also use C8/ C7 Carbines.

What happens when the UK pulls out of the EU? I know that quite a lot of british officers are worried they'll be cut off from European support. Also, many ex SF guys have raised concerns over what will happen to the International SOF community over nationalistic politics of UK and US. Special Forces Operations are a very liberal way of fighting wars.
If UK pulls out of the EU nothing will change cause the UK still part of Europe we just are not part of the trading union

They are a fleet protection squadron. They use the L119A2 because it is alot shorter than the L85. This allows them to maneuver easier in confined spaces such as navy ships.
Bang on. Much nicer weapon system to reload faster with as well. You can really go for those mag flips to look as cool as possible. It's not about if you complete the mission, it's about looking good whilst doing the mission.

ratchet2505 Thank god! L85 is a TERRIBLE system! Only reason it was kept so long is so the government could get its moneys worth even though they know they fucked up designing and purchasing it. The A3 was a better system, but still, theres no room for bullpups in long range skirmishes. Something of which modern day war is all about.
I'm pretty sure the A3 variant hasn't been rolled out over the entire armed forces yet, I swear only a few units have it atm while it's tested out.
