I just found you. I am so thankful. I have learned so much in a short time. I've only done 3 sets. I'm also a military spouse, currently along for the ride in Alaska waiting on orders. Thank you to you and your family for your service. 🤗
Love your videos!! I have been trying the gel application as of late as the dip powders have been making me sick kind of. Like it makes my eyes water and burn.
I love this! I have gotten good at gel nails with extensions but need to write a few papers for school LOL, so I took them off and have been experimenting with gel and dip powder, so fun! Love learning new ways to do nails.
I feel ya on this! I have been slowly going shorter and shorter too. I love the way long nails look but it makes typing a pain 😆 good luck on your papers!! 💕🙌🏼
So if I flash cure before I go in with base again and dip in clear I should cure it again to make sure is not sticky anymore? My glitter nails are turning cloudy and trying to figure out why. Thanks!
I'm sorry to hear that! I like to flash cure between nails but before I ever go and add any more base I always do a full cure. So flash cure after each nail (not necessary but my personal preference so I don't bump them), then full cure after all 5 nails are done, then base and clear. Another option for you could be to skip the clear! You could do a layer of gel base on your glitter, cure for 60 seconds and then file. If its a thick enough base gel then it should be enough of a protective layer over your glitter for filing. Hope this helps!
Isn’t that the worst?! It’s truly hit or Miss for me sometimes with the gel method. Sometimes I get the bubbles and cloudiness. It all comes down to the viscosity of the gel. It doesn’t always absorb all of the clear and that’s what creates those bubbles. Another route if you’re using the clear to encapsulate or protect the color/glitter would be to use gel base (cure) and then file/shape/buff. Since the gel is a thicker consistency sometimes it’s enough to still protect it! 🙌🏼💗
Ok I only used the gel method and I've done the chunky glitter But when I went to captivate it with the Clear no matter what I done it was really foggy looking so what am I doing wrong
Gel doesn’t play well with clear or sheer dips. So to encapsulate the glitters or colors I would suggest doing a layer of gel base and cure for 60 sec. Then use rubbing alcohol and lint free wipe to remove the tacky layer. Then file/buff. Then cleanse with rubbing alcohol and gel top coat and cure 60 sec. The layer of gel base will serve as the encapsulation layer instead. Hope this helps 💖💖
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that they came out thick! My best tip would be to use thin layers of liquid. Get as much off your brush as possible because less liquid means thinner layers. I hope this helps! 💕
I did my daughters nails using Modelones dipped nails & a few of her nails messed up and I tried buffing gel top off and re applying top gel but the gel will not dry for some reason. What do I do???
@@SipAndDip Hi. It requires no UV light. I think it’s because I didn’t add the activator after I had removed the gel top and buffed the nail. I did put the activator after I had finished dipping all the nails but when a few nails had gotten messed up I reapplied more gel top making it too thick and it not drying. So when I went to fix the nails by buffing them and applying gel top again it wouldn’t air dry and so I searched to find out and I think it’s because I didn’t re apply the activator and then adding the gel top coat. I hope that’s what it is. Lol. Once I try that I will let you know if it worked or not.
@@SipAndDip Lol.. yes it most certainly is. BUT it’s a wonderful money saver & Im learning. Thanks to your awesome videos. Thank you & I will definitely let you know how it turns out.
Hey girl @jaceface12 on insta! These nails have me ready to take off my Halloween nails and put my fall nails back on! It’s so funny that you posted this this week because I just started to use the gel method, saw your last video and was like.. I wonder how she does her chunky glitters lol! Problem solved! Thanks girl
Flash cures are totally optional 💗 I do a quick flash cure because when I move onto the next nail if I accidentally bump it or the gel migrates to my skin. A quick flash cure will prevent an accident or the gel moving. Not necessary, just personal preference 🥰 once I’m done with all of the nails I do a full cure
Ohhh great question 🧐 honestly, I think it would be personal preference! If someone finds that they are feeling rushed or struggling with dip liquids then they may enjoy gel method. I personally am more comfortable with dip liquids so those are my go to.
Congrats on 3K!! If you are selling, try to de-personalize the common areas of your home so when others come to see it, they can envision themselves there. It is hard to do when you see family photos and personal stuff. This mani is so beautiful. Green is my fav color. Dipping with gel is my fav way to dip. I feel it is easier and I am a sloth too. I am already following ManiBoss and Megan . My IG is @omneyaswish
These are amazing tips!! Thank you so much!! I plan to rent a storage unit so I can clear out a lot of the “clutter” too. I am really enjoying the gel method! I feel like I have such a clean application with it
Love your videos. I’m just venturing into dip with gel liquids and your videos are so helpful. Would you be able to talk more about your degree? I am also going back to school to finish my degree and I’d like to know more about your major.
Hey love! Congratulations on going back to school!! This Spring (2021) is my last semester! So excited!! I am going for my Bachelors in Organizational Management specializing in Accounting. Snooze fest huh lol! How about you??
I can definitely add this to my list of to do’s! I do have a removal video for dip powder on my channel. The big change is just LOTS of filing beforehand. Especially for glitters! 💕
@@Ecox51719 totally understand! I just now tried it and it took me 3 years 😅🙈 but I wanted to ask so I could understand how to better answer 💕 lifting is usually caused from some need to evaluate your prep process ☺️ I do have a video on how I prep my nails if you’re interested! Basically, I push back my cuticles, then scrap off whatever I pushed up, gently buff the surface of my nail and use a dehydrator. Does this sound like how you prep too? Glass cuticle pushers have been a change changer for me!
@@Ecox51719 ohhh hmm! Maybe! The only other thing I can think of would be if you get any liquid on your skin that can also cause a lifting issue as it grows out. If you have another set of liquids it doesn’t hurt to try your old brand (or another) and see if that helps! There is definitely so much trial and error with all of this 😅🙈 keep me posted girlfriend!!

I would love to try the gel method, but I think I’ve developed an allergy to gel liquids. I’ve used 3 different gel top coats and it always irritates my fingers. I could also be my application, maybe I’m getting gel in my skin. I’ll stick to the dip method for now. I love this mani, and the Mani Boss powders are gorgeous. IG stephie_gordon.
Oh noooo!!! I’m so sorry to hear this!! You are def not the first that I’ve heard this happen to. I really need to mention that in my next gel vid! Thank you for reminding me! I hate to hear it irritates your skin though 😫
Thanks so much. A couple of years ago I started getting gel manicures, because when I used to get acrylic nails, I would have the same irritation. Then the nail salon close to me closed, and I decided to try dip powder based on the recommendation of my cousin. So it’s weird that the gel polish is irritating my nails.
i’m so glad you got to 3k !! you deserve it. the nails you do are absolutely beautiful and you have taught me so much on dip powder nails !❤️

I completely understand!! Dip liquids can definitely irritate your eyes sometimes. I looove gel liquids for this very reason!!

Love this mani….. how do you stop your clear powder from going cloudy when curing? Mine always goes cloudy lol I must know your sorcery 🤣😂.

Why do you flash cure the layers vs doing complete cures?

A quick flash cure will prevent an accident or the gel moving. Not necessary, just personal preference 🥰 once I’m done with all of the nails I do a full cure
So with the gel method you don’t need the dip powder activator?
Nope!! Just gel base and gel top coat! The curing in the gel lamp serves as the “hardening” that activator does normally.
Your nails and colors are gorgeous. Thank you for the video
What UV light do you recommend?
