    This is the method I use now for my dip, when I do it. I have severe respiratory issues with the dip liquids but this way is the best! Like you said, I agree that they are pretty much done without the need for buffing. Even the cuticles look nearly perfect! I recently started playing with poly gel. I’m just really happy to have more ways to do my nails now. I have invested way too much in my dips to not be able to use them. Lol.

      Stacie Renee I am SO glad you didn’t give up on dips from the respiratory issues! 🙌🏼💕 I feel like I just found a hidden secret with this gel method lol such a game changer! And so much yes on everything you said! It’s amazing how much cleaner of an application you get with gel. Like mind blowing 🤯 that is so awesome that you’re experimenting with poly gel too! I am so intimidated by it 🤣

      SipAndDip I am sooo glad too, Chelsea! Nails have become a huge form of therapy 💆🏽‍♀️for me, especially when I was furloughed. It really is mind blowing🤯on how amazing the application and results are! Omgosh, and don’t be intimidated at all by poly gel! I found it really easy to do. I did it over my nails, without forms. My next set I’m going to try the dual forms! I hear the removal is a b--! Lol but, 🤷🏽‍♀️ I have done just one set but I’m soooo eager to do another.
      Do you have issues with the dip liquids, too?

    OK I've been waiting to deplete more of my dip liquids to buy gel liquids and a lamp but I think I definitely need to do this NOW! I do get dip "flu", last time I did my nails I just held them further from my face and then took an allergy pill before I went to bed and I was good. It also works great outside, but it was raining that day. :( My biggest problem with dipping is my cuticles, so I for sure need to try this just for the ease of cleaning that area! Thanks for this great video! I'm still scared to try peel base, I'll work on gel liquids for now lol.

    This is definitely my preferred method, BUT (yes, another one 😉), it does not play as nice with sun-changers. I tested what I had on swatchies (2 suns, 1 glow & 1 mood/temp, all Revel products), and the suns refused to change after curing, but worked fine with dip liquids. Glow & mood were fine with both. Just a heads up. 😊 If you have any from another brand, you may want to swatch it out first.
    Also, please pity me. I had to pick up the hubby from work today and missed out on the new VIVIDip set 😭😩😫

  • @rmbauer71
    @rmbauer71 3 года назад +1

    Two questions: 1: what grit buffer did you use at end? And 2: is the gel method just as strong as the dip liquids?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 года назад +2

      I’m not sure on the grit of the buffer but I do have it linked in description box 💕 if I remember correctly, I don’t think they have it listed. I like the price and quantity that I get with them. I prefer the polar blocks from Sally’s but I don’t always have a chance to get to the store.
      The gel method is definitely just as strong! I will say, because you are pouring over, I typically suggest to do another layer. So 4 instead of 3. But that’s not because of the gel products, but because of pouring the dip over instead of dipping into. It can’t be harder to remove gel so definitely file off as much as you can before soaking 💕

    so easy to watch , great video! I have a few questions , what is dip powder? is it acrylic or gel like? I'm a diy'r and wondererd what do I search for to get the right dip powder? also why 3 coats of dip ,was it for structure or full colour coverage? thank you sooo much,, can't wait to see video with glitter!!

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 года назад +2

      Hi Susan! So dip powder is acrylics but just more finely milled. I really love Mani Boss Dip Powder, VIVIDip, and Sparkle and Co right now for brands! I have tons of other small shops too like DIP2CUTE and Shameless nails just to name a few more that I love. I do the 3 dips for strength and sometimes coverage. Usually dip powder is full coverage in 2 dips but not always! So it is mostly for the strength and so I can file it down. Thanks for watching! Feel free to DM me too on IG if you have more questions! Sometimes the comments on here get lost lol!

    I’ve done my last couple of manis with gel liquids too and I love it! ❤️ I’m curious how you did the chunky glitter with gel liquids though - when I tried to pour glitter over, only the powder stuck and all the glitter fell off so I ended up laying my nail in it instead of pouring over. How did it work for you?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  4 года назад +2

      Tiare Escobedo yesss! So that’s exactly what I did! My first layer I like to pour over. I like to get the finer glitters. That keeps the layers thinner and then I can focus on the chunky pieces for the top. But you can absolutely lay your nail flat into it for both layers. Then the second layer I lay my nail flat. I do plan to film on how I do the chunky glitters coming soon! I am trying to keep my videos shorter and simpler for y’all 💕 for the chunky glitter I like to do 2 dips of chunky, then clear, then top coat, then buff. I know that seems like a lot but I felt like just a layer of clear or just the layer of top coat wasn’t quite enough to protect the glitter when I filed. I experimented on swatches first and found this the best method for me personally 💕 I hope this helps!

    thanks so much for this video. I experience alot of lifting with regular gel polish at home. I just recently tried dip at a salon because i wanted to see if i really liked it and if i get any lifting like i do with the gel polis at the tips. I can prep my nails file down the natural nail and use orly primer and the dehydrator and my gel polish manis at home only stay for about a week to week and half even capping the free edge meticulously. I do wash my hands very frequently at work. So im curious to see if i would get the same lifting with the gel base and top coats versus the activators that go with the dip kits.

If you want a fuller coverage look or on the softer side. Both pouring and laying is totally fine! If you lay, just do it gently so the liquid doesn’t disperse onto your skin. But it is absolutely coming up very soon for uploading! 💕

    Do you pour the dip powder and cure on each nail individually.....one at a time? Buff after all nails are done?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  4 года назад +1

      Pam Geron so this is sort of what you are comfortable with. It is “possible” for liquid to move or be smudged if you don’t cure. For me, I do my thumb and cure. Then move onto all of the other 4 fingers. I cure my thumb because I feel like while I do the other 4, keeping my thumb at a tilt “could” make the powder/liquid move to my skin. When I do the other 4 I am personally comfortable with doing base, pour powder, then next finger base, powder, then next finger base, then powder, and then cure all 4. For this particular set, I did the solid shimmers first and cured. Then moved onto glitter. But if you are afraid of bumping one or having liquid move then definitely cure after each. Totally what you are comfortable with and experimenting with what you like 💕
      I buff after I have a layer of top coat on each protecting it. I’d hate to accidentally bump one or hit it with the buffer/file before I get a chance to protect it. I also like to buff at the same time because then when I clean with rubbing alcohol they are all ready for top coat at the same time.
      I would say for your first set with gel and powder to cure after each if it makes you nervous 💕 better safe than sorry! Can’t wait to hear what you think of it!

      It should be the same for longevity! It's all about your prep. Sounds like you do a great job at it!! One thing that I would suggest that I have learned since this video is to use a primer as well with gel. So you could do some experimenting! Try it without the primer first. If you don't have any lifting issues then you don't need it. BUT! If you do see that you have lifting then I would prep your nails as normal, dehydrate, then add a layer of primer. Then start with the gel base. Good luck girl!

    I wish you had shown removal with the peel base. I noticed you only did one coat. Is that enough with the Vivid brand?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  Год назад

      It’s going to vary for each person. Depending on your lifestyle and nail chemistry. I know some who need 3 coats, personally I’ve only ever needed 1 coat. That goes for UNT peel base, Virgo peel base, mani boss and VIVID. It takes trial and error to see what you’ll need. 1 coat makes mine pop off in 1-3 days. I do have several peel base videos that also include removal. Here is my most recent video. The process/longevity of my manicure with peel base is the same for me with gel products and dip powder. But that will vary for each person

      Hi Anna!
      Just to make sure I understand, are you asking after doing the dip color if you can apply gel base as an encapsulating layer? If so, absolutely! So once you’re done with the color, apply gel base, cure for 60 sec. Remove the tacky layer with rubbing alcohol, then file/buff. Then cleanse the nail with rubbing alcohol. Apply gel top coat, cure for 60 sec.
      Please let me know if I misunderstood! 💖

    Hi Chelsea just wondering if this lasted 5 days is it not strong enough to last 3 weeks? Im having issues with my beauty secrets gel base. It dries too quick and i have to buff alot in the end because of bumps. Do you think a slower drying base is the trick ? Should i try gel ?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 года назад

      I would definitely give a slower drying base a try if you are in the market 💕Mani boss has a great one!
      Are the bumps sort of like ridges? It might be due to the liquid consistency, too much liquid on the brush, the angle of dipping into the powder etc. Have you tried pouring the powder over instead of dipping in? That can help with bumps, lumps, ridges. It can also create thinner layers. I have a video on that topic if you’re wanting to try one more shot at the products you have on hand 💕 hope this helps!!

    Hi, I just started doing my own dip powder nails about 6 weeks ago and I get better each time but it’s soooo time consuming. I’m trying to find a method that is less time demanding. This looks like an option. I’m still confused on the difference in the method vs dip when it comes to the filing process. Does the product lay down more evenly with the gel where you don’t have to file your life away? I don’t have a gel light or products but willing to try if it will save me steps/time. I guess I’m confused bc you are still technically “dipping” in the powder so how does that save time. I’ve also thought about doing a clear dip and gel polish and just till in the clear dip every time to save time but idk what is best and need help! Thanks so much! You videos have been helpful. ❤

      You can adjust the nail more before you cure with gel allowing you to clean up around the edges and smooth it out some. Dip base will dry on you pretty fast meaning more filling if you don't get it perfectly applied.

    • @SipAndDip

      To use peel base on the dip powder, it would need to be top coated. Dip powder is porous so we need a layer of top coat for the peel base. After you cure your top coat then you can add your peel base 🫶🏻

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 года назад +1

      So peel base makes for easy pop off removal. Typically when I use peel base they last for only 1-3 days. It can vary for each person but unfortunately, peel base can definitely make them pop off pretty quickly. It’s great that it prevents you from having to soak off but it is a bummer they pop off so fast.
      If you want longevity, definitely skip peel base. For gel liquids I would suggest roughing up the natural nail, apply a dehydrator, a primer, then gel base (cure 60 sec). That should help! 💗

I have a cat with respiratory issues so having to do all that buffing and filing and fumes was a big thing I wasn’t happy about but the gel method looks perfect. What grit nail file do you recommend to use prior to soaking them off? I think I read 180 grit? I got some of those containers off Amazon that you can put hot water into the base and then the top you put the remover into the finger holes so hopefully that works cause that’s another reason why I wanna do my own. • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 года назад +1

      @@jordypocket I wholeheartedly understand! 💖
      So for soak off, I would suggest 100 grit to file through the top coat + bulk of the products.
      For the fumes, you could also try sparkle and co’s low scent base option if you wanted! It’s a dip powder liquid so it’ll soak off easier. But no harsh smell. They also offer a low scent dip top coat. It’s not my fav but it works! It has no odor my only issue with it is that you can only do one layer (normal dip liquids is 2) so it’s not as shiny. But you could totally do a gel top coat on top of it! 💖 just wanted to give you a non lamp option just in case ☺️
