Got home an hour ago and thought, I need a Bald Foodie Guy fix, to my horror , no video today !!! Until now, ahhhhh, cheers Gaz , hope you're well mate !
I often do bacon in my airfryer. Eggs seem abit hit and miss if you like them soft, but simple if you like them well done. When i do a bacon roll, i cook the bacon, then put it in the roll, with some chedder and cherry tomatoes, then put the whole lot back in the airfryer to melt the cheese. That works very well.
I bought an air fryer about 4 years ago before they really took off, hardly any recipes online & just couldn’t get the hang of it. Dusted it off yesterday & tried a toastie in it… oh my word! What a game changer! If you haven’t tried a toasted cheese (I had cheese & ham!) toastie, give it a try! Has to be done on thick white bread though, only because the air circulating can blow the top piece of bread off haha! Although this can be remedied by popping a cocktail stick either end (which I also tried & it worked great!) I was chuffed 😁 I’ll have to try the bacon next! X
@@BaldFoodieGuy haha yes, wasn’t expecting a topless toastie 😂 I’m with you though, hit & miss with the air fryer, perhaps I just need to practice more but mines rather small, if I cook fries / chips in there, there’s no room to do anything else, so something had to get cold. I see the appeal in ones like yours or the ninja duals! x
Slightly off topic but I didn't realise until last week that Heinz Toast Toppers were discontinued years ago ! I just thought about them and couldn't get them out of my head but no longer available anywhere , I'm going to try and concoct a replacement 🙃 😅. Loved them growing up .
Always get my bacon in the air fryer these days. Same with most my stuff to be honest. Bang it on and leave it to go. Best way to cook! It's absolutely banging for a joint of pork, the crackling comes out spot on every single time.
Air fryers are just basically small super-convection ovens. Restaurants for decades, at least here in the US, have known that the best bacon is that done in the oven rather than in a skillet. Of course, what we call bacon is what I think you call 'streaky bacon', but it turns out beautifully. I really like using mine here in Texas for baking potatoes. Great video!
yeah but usa bacon is 90% fat since its the belly cut ,for us brits who like the fat in bacon crispy air fryer is the best way or a combination microwave using the grill option
Do you mean 'fan' oven? We have a crazily powerful electric fan oven and its as quick as the air fryer. Might cost more to run but you can put a lot in it.
i also went out and bought a deep fat fryer pan and mesh basket, got rid of the pan i just wanted the mesh basket to square up to fit my air fryer, makes it easier to get stuff out lol
You can't beat an egg and bacon sarnie. It always brings back memories of coming back from a patrol in the early hours, going to the cookhouse where the duty cook would knock out a load of them. Nothing ever tasted so good.
I've had my air fryer for about a fortnight now (Uten 6.5L). Love it!!! I look at things differently now when food shopping - can I do that in the AF? The bacon you dislike we refer to as peely wally bacon up here in chilly Jockland. Never tried what you did there. I've cooked the bacon crispy before snapping in half and adding it to a puff pastry square (edges folded up) and added an egg on top. Thanks for the vid.
If you are determined to only use the air fryer, may I suggest using a silicone fairy cake case to pour the egg into instead of straight on the bread. The bacon & egg on 200⁰C takes about 7-8mins, though the egg sets with more height than normal so needs squashing/spreading. Using a microwave poacher only takes about 1m40s and is nicer.
Think I'd do the bacon in the air fryer, but the egg in a small frying pan. I also love the fatty bit nice and crispy, can't stand pale floppy fat on my bacon. Cheers for giving it a go and showing us Gareth, got to try these things haven't you.
