The look on your face when you tasted the first bite is absolutely priceless... THIS is why we love this channel so much!
Thank you so much 😁
I think he,s brilliant, so funny. he,s a better cook than me 😂
cooking instructions:
1) get a measure tape ...
well done! that's the reason, men are the best cooks! 👍
Still wasn't equal 😂
Omg…..when the builders tape measure came out😂 They looked ok in the end though👍🏼
I was just thinking 🤔 why not cut the pastry in half. And then cut the halfs in half 🤣
@@daveyjones18 What, you mean to make 4 perfectly sized pieces that would have gone right the way around & not left massive end gaps? lol. I think we were all thinking that but the tape measure gave me the best laugh I’ve had all week!
@@julesb7707 And then trying to divide 13.35 by 4 🤔 🤣. Gaz should start a new cookery channel 👍
Gareth its said that God loves a trier, well so do we😊 For a first attempt you did well. As a retired chef I'll offer just one or two tips for the next time😊 Always have some flour handy to dust your hands when touching the pastry AND the sausage meat.If using the same sausage meat, when you open the packet, turn the S.M out.And upside down.Marks on the under side great guide to follow and cut into 6 pieces. Don't cut the pastry, just unroll.Dust both the pastry & your work top lightly with flour. Roll the sausage meat with floured hands, until it's the length of the short side of pastry. Place it on the pastry, about a quarter inch ( I'm old school😅) in from the edge.Egg wash to the main part ,then roll, using the edge until it covers the sausage, press down on the egg washed side. Then cut along the edge to separate from the rest of the pastry. Repeat until you have 6 large sausage rolls, These can be cut in half 😊 egg washed then baked to perfection 😊 Again mate a belting good video, and take it from an old professional, you did very well ❤😊 See you on the next one Cheers Allan&Family
Cheers Allan thanks for the tips 👍
My wife makes her own sausage rolls using the exact same ingredients from Tesco except she mashes up the sausage meat and grates in some apple, the resulting sausage rolls are absolutely gorgeous😋👍
Apple , that's genius right there..magic.
The satisfaction of making your own stuff is unbelievable, in fact it is infectious, you'll be starting your own cafe next lol.
I enjoyed this one believe it lol
It tastes better!😉 There's also the satisfaction of giving it to others.
Just poured my second glass of wine! To heck with tea! That being said I am just going to take some puff pastry out of freezer and some mild Italian sausages and make some rolls! I’m gluten and lactose free intolerant but I do enjoy watching and listening to you! I’m a 77 yr old ex pat from Lincolnshire and you make me feel so at home!🇨🇦💕
Haha 👍
The integrity is the best part of this video. He isn’t cutting the video to hide his mistakes and he’s having a go. Good onya mate much respect 👍
Cheers 😊
Three sausage rolls and one Toad-in- the-Hole. Great combo.
The Sausage canoe looks nice 👍
This is what you call entertainment, just get home from work I'll put RUclips on and Gareth Ramsay is on duty . Crying with laughter it's bloody hilarious and remember God loves a trier 😂😂😂😂
well he is deffo trying
Nothing better than making your own pies, pasties and sausage rolls, so much better straight out of the oven and the lovely aroma that fills the kitchen. Biscuits/cookies are the same - makes your house smell like a good old fashioned home. Lovely to see.
so good
My old mum used to make them with Cumberland sausage meat from the butchers and her own pastry oh how I miss them I'm a lifelong sausaholic Gaz sausage sandwich Saturday tomorrow yum😅😅
Even some top chefs use ready made puff pastry, your in good company 😁
Yes, they use it on Master Chef.
Hope they use the All Butter versions as why ruin it with ultra processed toxic marg in the pastry which most brands are unfortunately. Hard to find all butter now as 'it's all about the money money money"
👏🏽👏🏽 So many people telling you what you could have done!! You could have gone to Gregg’s instead. But you didn’t you did it your way and there is nothing better than that. Well done I bet the girls and wife were thrilled with those because they were yours. I feel a burst of “I did it My way” 🎶
Congratulations on such an empowering message Who needs common sense anyway far superior to be authentically obtuse 😇
SO VERY TRUE LOVE THE COMMENT
That was so funny, especially the hand rolling of the sausagemeat.....ooh matron! More cooking please.
Excellent video my husband and I were in stiches watching and yes the sausage rolls looked delicious 😊
Glad you enjoyed it cheers
Fresh out of the oven sausage rolls.
Oh yes.
If every frozen product was a good as puff pastry and garden peas, the world would be a better place.
Don’t forget frozen mash 😊
I'm glad you read the ingredients. Who would of thought that you need Bamboo fibers in sausage meat. 🤷♂
Could the meat is panda...?
Agree strange ingredient must be for a reason I suppose
wonder if sausage meat from the butchers has it. hmm🤔
It's used as a binder.@@davidn3394
Most likely a cheap filler - meat is more expensive so it’s probably more profitable to fill it out with fibres and other fillers
I make steak bakes using puff pastry cut into squares and add tinned stewed steak pop a square lid on and crimp edges with a fork score top with knife and brush with egg wash when pastry is golden their done very tasty 😀
Love the sound of these
Home made food tastes the nicest. They looked lovely
What you should've done is made one big one length ways, slice it into quarters once its rolled and pinch the ends together to seal. Learning curve! I've made them before but added some caramalised onion (my version of flare). Theyre lush!
You can't beat a home made sausage roll.
Brilliant Gaz!! 👏 I’m going to make these with my youngest daughter tomorrow now…. She will be well proud 😀 have a good weekend …. Smithy
Cheers Smithy 😊
"So easy to make" I absolutely love this Gaz, literally pissing myself laughing, but I was laughing with you, not at you! I love watching you every day 🤩
The Norman Wisdom of cooking he is brilliant its great to have someone doing this with no ego and he gives his best all the time.
I HAD TO RUN TO THE TOILET COULDNT STOP LAUGHING
Warm sausage rolls ... scrumptious 😋
Priceless! Loved it.
It doesn't matter if you are only assembling, using pre-made pastry and filling. The end result is always going to be better and cheaper than buying overpriced pre-made product. Plus you can choose components and ensure that, for example, the filling isn't rubbish. It is also fun watching you do it, so yes please do more. Other suggestions to try are pizza, fruit pies, chicken and bacon pie, kedgeree, heck even try a making curry using a bottled sauce, or if you want to a small extra challenge, a pre-mix spice pack. Biscuits and cakes are also good fun - so here's to the next project!
Wow Gaz really impressed - you do make me laugh especially when you got the tape measure out!! Glad they tasted good😊
Glad you enjoyed it
❤when u cook! Well done …You can always cut your puff pastry down center first then repeat, trick me Gran taught me … 😉 x
Great tip! X
Best sausage pasty i ever seen!
Chop up some small pieces of black pudding and mix it in with the sausage. trust me you'll thank me👍🏻
Oh yes yum 😋
Never thought of that, great idea !
Will 100% try that
I was thinking that as he opened the sausage meat, I've always wanted to try a Manchester egg
Love a nice sausage 😋 looks 😋
16:45 Absolutely.
well done, nice one. I jazz mine up with a handful of bread crumbs a teaspoon of mustard, grated nutmeg, one fried onion, sage and some dark beer -you should try it next time
Cheers Robin
Love the cooking videos.
Glad you like them!
Hi Gareth, My wife is a qualified cook and was cringing watching your attempt. She has a secret recipe that has been passed down by her family. She has updated it and does use shop bought pastry. She suggests that if you place the sausage meat longways in two rows, it is easier to fold over the pastry. You then can cut them to the desired length. She says that you did very well for a first try. She added it was better than I could have done . We both love your videos and like the way you do something different every now and again. Well done mate.
So easy to make pastry
@@raymurrell406I can’t stand my hands getting sticky or dirty. Some of us are weird😂
You made us chuckle thank you x
Ah understand
Tape measure not needed. Cut the pastry in half, then cut the two halves in half.
Simples.
Looked delicious btw. 🖖
Everything in life gets easier, the more you do it. My Saturday job as a child working in the Marina café which was close to the promenade in Blackpool. Home cooking on a grand scale, I haven't forgotten the morning when the boss said, "First thing this morning we are making 1000 sausage rolls.
WOW THAT MUST HAVE BEEN A BIT DAUNTING
I'm going to give it try. I'm a bit disappointed that ready made sausage rolls all have trans fats in them so this is probably the way to go. Thanks BFG.
Thanks so much this has given me the confidence to have a go, more videos like this please.
Agreed 100%
More coming thank you kindly 😊
@nigel8499 thank you 😊
You're not cheating. As I've said before I work for one of the largest commercial food distribution companies and we sell a huge amount of pre made puff pastry to the professional restaurant trade. They're not nice to pick, the biggest boxes weight 20Kg and when you get a big chain ordering 20 of the buggers you get knackered out picking them.
Thanks 👍
Try some Chilli flakes \ powder in the mix next time its lovely, if your doing requests, how about a nice Cornish pasty next, a proper sized one fit for a Tin Miner 👍
Sounds good!
Great video. Me and the kids love making these in our house, I like to add some fresh chillies to my sausage meat and try new flavours.
Sounds great!
It's a 10/10 from me 👍🤤😋
Love making my own sausage rolls, skin some linolnshire (like the sage and other herbs) with good pork sausages with ready roll puff pastry. So good hot out of the oven. Looking forward to more simple recipes for everyone.
i feel like anything involving moree than 3 steps of cooking is always going to be biasedly nice 😉
I was shouting "stretch the meat to the end of the pastry, Gareth! 😄 But you did really well - I've been making sausage rolls for years, and they still come out a bit different every time! I liked the "open" sausage roll - could be a thing! Cheers, Gareth, I'd have eaten them!
Perhaps give the masterchef application another year
Haha
One jumbo sounds delightful 😮.
Next time you want to cut pastry into four, cut it in half, and then cut those halves into half again. Much simpler, and far more accurate!
pat your hands with plain flour before rolling sausage meat, you will save yourself many minutes of pain. great to see you making your own food xxx
yes, my mum told me to do this also.
Well done Gareth. More videos like this please !! Thank you xx
More to come! X
Love this Cooking programme ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Add English mustard to the inside too..... game changer.....
Good tip cheers
Gotta say , your videos are great and it's good to see a normal fella doing these reviews and these cooking efforts that most people can relate to and yeah have a laugh at but enjoy it at the same time. Keep it up mate absolutely brilliant 👍
I appreciate that!
Well deserved
I’m salivating watching you eat the sausage rolls
Brilliant! Going to try this. It made my mouth water.
Hope you enjoy
Hands down, one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched😂
😂😂😂 This was great Gaz. Need more vids like this. Turned out nice in the end. 😋
More coming
👍🏼👍🏼Wrapping a slice of streaky bacon round yr sausage meat before you put in the pastry 😋 and youll have pigs in blanket sausage rolls !! 🥳🥳
Crikey! 2024 went by really fast!🎄😀
They look great
Boil 3 or 4 lots with half a grated onion and boil until soft, mix in tin corned beef, wrap in puff pastry and bake 180 for 30 mins. Corned beef pasty. Another project? Thank you for your videos Gareth.xx
Oh sounds delicious 😋 x
Yayyy…..you’re the only RUclipsr I actually wait for haha
Mhmmm
Well thank you kindly I appreciate it
Watching you making sausage rolls is like watching 'The Plank'
I think you should've paid a wee bit more attention to the good lady as she was making hers.
But all's well that ends well!
Great effort Gareth 👍🤤😀
Sometimes man must fend for himself! Did a great job, those sausage rolls look great!
Cheers mate
Looks really good.
love it, my kids would love them
Good for you. Nothing like some home made sausage rolls. I always use shop bought pastry, tastes fine. They looked very tasty, I have a special recipe but these days can’t be bothered I’m too old.
I love doing homemade ones with Lincolnshire sausages brought some pastry yesterday to make some tommorow or Sunday
I make my sausage rolls with puff pastry but I add some sage and onion stuffing and it's delicious. Well done for having a go 😊
Wow! Those look wonderful - what a great job!! I've always been afraid of puff pastry, but you show that even non-chefs can use it. I'm going to try now. Thanks for the inspiration!
You are so welcome!
Good for you for giving it a go! I'm weak!😁😂🤣
What we have here is the will to fill a sausage roll with max meat v what we really get in the shops, and fair play!
Omg a guy after my own heart ❤love making the sausage rolls yummy xxxxx
So good 👍
I bought the same pastry to make cheese n onion rolls so this gives me an idea how they might turn out. I'm sure I'll be just as ham fisted as you were but they do look very nice, well done 😀🙌
Thanks 👍
Great effort mate! I've been trying to muster the courage to make my own sausage rolls, but bottled it every time. You've inspired me to have a go.
Cheers pal 😊
I Love homemade sausage rolls and you can’t beat it :)
delectable meal! I like this home cooking series
Love sausage rolls your making my mouth water laughed when you got the tape measure out good going 👍🇨🇦
That looks great!!! I use Sainsburys chilled puff pastry, with my local butchers sausage meat (I usually chuck a bit of garlic in mine too). Or you can buy your fav sausage but then take the skins off. I make two long sausages in the length then cut them in three. Then, as you did, brush egg wash on and I sprinkle on a teeny bit of salt on the top. Perfic. Enjoy !!!!!! 😁👍
God loves a tryer.
all good fun, and they turned out well too
They look alright to me. And as for splitting the pastry I would have folded it in half cut it then folded each half and cut them.
Fantastic effort and result
Many thanks
My wife makes great sausage rolls with frozen shortcust pastry and skinned best quality sausages - delicious & easy!
Sounds great!
that was hysterical Gareth
sausage rolls are just so easy to make aren't they
Gone a good job….they look great.
Brilliant craic!
Cheers
I like to see someone enjoy their food so much. Good work.
Thank you 😋
Well done the first step is always the hardest they looked great
As a chef many years ago, three of us were tasked with a buffet for 100 people. Two of us were to knock together 400 sausage rolls. I had all the minced pork, onions, herbs, etc, ready to fill the pastry and shape it, etc. I looked over, and the other chef had made loads. WTF? How's he done that? He was simply wrapping the pastry around actual sausages. No one noticed at the buffet. Genius LOL. 😂 there is nothing wrong with your sausage rolls. At home mine are often overfilled and open. They still work and taste fab.
When cutting anything into 4 pieces, it's easier to initially cut it in half, then cut the halved pieces into half again.
I love you cooking. I will make this too 😊
Well done 👏🏻 they look delicious. I prefer to see food homemade and rustic rather than uniform looking it looks so much more tastier. You’ve inspired me to have a go at making some (sausage rolls) myself.
Thanks so much! 😊
I love making sausage rolls and yours look spot on. Cheese and onion rolls are good too, just cheese, onion and breadcrumbs to hold it together.
They look fantasric, deffo going to give them a go 😋
Thanks 👍
Great way to go.
Cheers
I always use frozen ready made pastry it makes it all easier I get my sausage meat from the butcher and I mash it up with diced onion and dried sage well done they look alright
