See you next time for another adventure... Развлечения
The yeti is exactly that wonderful “goofy”, “makeshift” Lego aesthetic that’s been lost over time.
Yes! Everything has been "standardized" regarding creature and character design these days, for good and for bad.
So this is finally an adventurers set without a gun~ @@RRSlugger
@@priestking8636 Crazy, isn't it?? I didn't even know what I was looking at at first! 😉
Or we know not as much about icicles@@RRSlugger
Though I think if Lego ever wants to do a Sasquatch/Yeti in a future set, the long armed and tall legged minifigures would probably be a more fitting method for "proper" scale.
Though they'd probably need to bulk them up a bit with chest/head pieces, and maybe slap some 2x1s under his feet(with 1x1 tiles to cover/smooth out the eponymous "big feet")
The titular bronze statuette from the classic noir movie "The Maltese Falcon" is also referred to as a "dingus". I've done a bit of reading into this and it seems it was once a slang term for a treasure or mcguffin.
No way! That's actually really cool and quite fitting for the world of Adventurers! 😮
I'm flabbergasted to learn, ~20 years later, that the alternate builds BOTH had action features. Imagine getting three copies of this set and combining them into an ice cave of some sort...
Ah yes, my childhood stand in for the Wampa lol
It was nice when LEGO produced inexpensive sets that packed a punch. If Adventurers ever got a modern reboot they'd be smart to focus the line on compact, affordable sets that synergize with the rest. The balloon. The Junk ship. The tiger, yet, and Jun Chi shrines. These added so much to the world and were fairly easy for a parent to justify buying their kid on a grocery run - especially compared to the cost of modern sets.
I've done the same! With a wrong Luke, taken from the small throneroom set... Ah, the memories.
Good and worthwhile cheap sets are hard to find, I miss when it felt worthwhile to get one, especially because back then they were the only ones I would get.
5:24 Someone call DankPods! New Dingus just dropped!
DANKPODS MENTIONED
I remember watching _The LEGO Movie_ with director commentary (for the first time) this month for the film's 10 Year Anniversary, and even one of the commentators joked about female contour printing, saying something along the lines of it being like a jacket with contours printed on it.
That's totally it, haha!
Such a simple but lovely set, I can't get enough of Orient Expedition!
Also, about 'dingus' being a Dutch translation of 'thingy': we say 'dinges', in which the ng is pronounced like in 'thing'. Ding-uhs.
I see where they get 'dingus' from but it's not entirely accurate!
@@LrdVnm That's the sort of citation I needed! Thanks for the clarification, haha! ❤
I really love the supplemental segments in these videos that go over more than just the set itself, like the "history lessons" that give some plausible context for the design decisions, and that board game that I'd never even heard of before seeing it on your channel! Great stuff as usual!
Thank you! I endeavor to make my videos "more than just a set review" as there are already dozens of those online for every set LEGO ever made, haha. 😊
2:47 took me off guard when i remembered you also play heroscape lol
Had to seize the opportunity! 😉
Heroscape fans represent!
there seems to be a decent overlap between heroscape and lego fans. Which makes sense when you think about it.
I freaking love the traps and interactive play features that these sets had. It makes even a small set like this feel really fun!
That moment when part of a slug’s retrospective on an early aughts LEGO theme helps you realize why a MacGuffin from one Transformers Prime episode was called the D.N.G.S. (pronounced “dingus”)
The adventure continues!!
Edit: all my homies hate body contours on Lego figs
Your homies are right - it's so unnecessary!
Looks like the corset never went out of style in Lego world. So much like our own world, that place, and yet...
The Yeti mould is the best of the three oriental beasts in my opinion.
The thing you called dingus or finyal is called gajur and is found on top of the stupa, it looks like lotus blooms which represent spiritual purity
Haha, everyone's been telling me there's a different name for these things, but "gajur" definitely checks out. 👍
I'll try to mention that name too when talking about the Temple Of Mount Everest.
@@RRSlugger search gajur on google you will find it easy, i spent a lot of time in nepal and india in 2020 to 2022, i am buddhist and visited many many places with these kind of decoration
the trap mechanism linking the ice wall to the drawer is very simple but adds a lot of play value
Recently subscribed and binged a bunch of your videos and I wanted to commend you not only for your production values but the thoroughness and thoughtfulness of your reviews. The bar is so low for so many channels (and especially sites like Brickset) where the reviewer basically does nothing more than demonstrate the set like a Wikipedia article and then move on.
I appreciate the depth and breadth of knowledge you bring in terms of the theme and Lego history as a whole and the synthesis this brings to your commentary, even if I don't always agree with your opinions (I consider Spark the worst of all 12 Slizers and you ranking him above the original 8 was outrageous). You're a rare reviewer with an actual voice, who feels like an actual fan instead of someone who just buys sets.
Thank you so much! I really do endeavor to make every video "more than just a set review" because, as you point out, there are already so many people doing that. I try to make sure every script weaves the topic into the larger LEGO tapestry in some respect. 😊
And I appreciate that even though you don't agree with all of my opinions, you still derive something from my videos! Not everybody is able to do that, honestly - for some, once they hear that I don't like the same Bionicles as them, that's it, "friends off", haha.
Speaking of which, judging by your profile picture, you may want to skip my next video... 😅
I obtained this set along with the Aero Nomad (7415) and the Scorpion Palace (7418) alongside four other retired sets from 2003-04 as Christmas gifts in 2006. And two then-newly "soft-released" sets (7771 and 7772) for 2007, but that's a different story. In addition to exclusive in arches in "earth orange" (also called "Old brown" or "Mata brown"), this set was among the last "regular" sets to have the standard 1x3 brick in that color, having debuted as part of the "Watto's Junkyard" set (7186) from Star Wars in early 2001. It also appeared in the "Werewolf Ambush" (1380) from the "Studios" theme in mid-2002, and its last standard appearance was as part of the "Dagobah" version of the X-Wing Fighter (4502) in 2003 (also released in a different-colored box in early 2004). It also came in a supplementary pack (10147) with other parts in this color during that year, and also in a golden lid bucket (4105) in 2005-released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Lego system (even though the actual Lego brick didn't turn 50 until 2008) before being phased out. This is also the only minifigure-scale set to have the 11L rope with studs on the end in white, being that it first appeared in a set (3142) from the "Scala" theme from 1999, and also appeared in a Belleville set (5834) during '01. It also made one other appearance in mid-2003 in a set (7469) from the short-lived "Discovery Channel" theme before being phased out. In addition to being one of the last sets to have the small rock piece, it is also one of the last sets to have the 1x5x4 continuous arch bricks in white, which first appeared in a "Town" (now called "City") set (6379) in 1986. After Orient Expedition, it appeared as part of a Creator 3-in-1 set (4993) in 2008 and in the Creator Expert "Taj Mahal" (10189) the same year. It made one last "original" appearance in a set (7599) based on Toy Story 3, in the runup to the film's release in June 2010. It's last appearance overall would be when the second of these examples was re-released under a different set number (10256) in 2017.
The Yeti is so cool. This is a neat little set and I wish we'd get another set with it
I want to say with all honesty that you are by far my favorite Lego RUclips channel to watch.
Thank you very much! 😊
always like how you show the alternate builds! it kind of makes my imagination go wild, i like to think the 2nd alternate buidl you showed is another version of the yeti's hideout, perhaps the brown parts in the middle being a table!
Oh hey, it's our friend 'Ugly Rock'! Classic.
0:41 The attempted effect also doesn't work in my opinion, it's like drawing a circle inside of a square piece and trying to sell me on the idea that it's a circle... I'll never see it as anything but a square piece with a circle drawn on it. These feminine curves are not curves, they are weird lines printed on wedge shapes.
2:39 Hm, could it be that this animal's fur moults to change color with the seasons? Brown would be terrible camouflage in winter.
5:22 Lmao! Ah yes. Johnny Thunder and the Yeti with the Golden Dingus.
5:48 I like the posing here. "Heyo! Wanna come in? I have frozen pizza."
8:26 I guess the Yeti's speed is worse because the encounter is unskippable.
I like the Yeti, they seem charming. Just hanging out and doing some spoops.
Dutch person here about 5:07 :
'Dinges' in Dutch is a slightly silly version of our word 'ding' which would translate to 'thing'. So yea, dinges would be thingy.
So it is not quite dingus but plausible... Thou as a bilingual person I would personally much quicker see 'Dingus' as 'dumb person'.
Thank you! This is the sort of citation I needed, haha! 😊
Thanks for the correction. I'm the one who brought it up last time, but I only knew the word via my grandparents using it.
My first introduction to the yeti was actually through an eBay LEGO Star Wars Hoth figure lot that seemed to include it in place of the Wampa lol! This was before an official Wampa existed too
Been going through your time cruisers and Orient Expedition retrospectives as I love the combination of background info and actually set review. Yeti's hideout is the only complete Adventurers set I own, and im glad i grabbed it years ago on ebay when I did.
Thanks! Glad to hear you're enjoying them!
Wake up babe, new Slugger video dropped
Oh man! I had this set as a kid. I was a big fan of snow sets, and especially yetis.
I'm honestly and pleasantly surprised at how well the play features of the alt builds work, and kind of agree that the yeti reveal of the c model is so much cooler than the a model's simple door function
Ah, every Orient Expedition video makes me want to get all the sets more & more. This series has happened to coincide with my getting into board games as a big hobby, and that part of my brain wants it all, no matter how questionable of a game it may be.
Little correction - actually the torso print of miss Pippin is not as gender neutral as you think. The buttons are of her jacket are on the left side, which is only used in female clothing, while male clothes are practically always the other way around. I'm really into fashion and it's basically always like this to distinct female clothes from male ones :D
...you're absolutely right! Good catch, wow! 😮
Ye "dinges" is a direct translation for 'thingy", and Dutch does have a jokey "phonetic" transcription (used by people like Remco Campert/ Remko Kampurt and other Kabouters of the time) where the schwa-sound is written with a U.
Children do it too, which incidentally is also the origins of my screen name.
However, Dingus probably just means MacGuffin
1:45 The Genie from cmf series 6 actually utilized the pin hole for his golden turban pin.
It's a shame that they retired it tbh. I would love to see more turban pin like that
I'm going to have to track down one of those genies now!
Love your work Slugger. Something you and others might find interesting: "The yellow expedition" (French: "Croisière Jaune") was a French trans-asian expedition in 1931/32. They used Citroën Halftrack vehicles similar to the one in the Lego Dragon Fortress. I am almost certain that the Lego Designers knew about this historic journey, there is a lot of video material from it. They started in Beirut, crossed the himalayans and ended in Beijing. I found out about this while researching on 1920s and 30s expeditions & vehicles, sparked by your series! I had some of these sets and loved the theme. Keep it up!
I find this SUPER interesting, thank you! Now I need to find a way to remember this factoid for when I finally do tackle the Dragon Fortress in 2025... 😅
(Alright, I wrote myself a note in a text document - hopefully I'll remember to look there in a year!)
Fitting that this released the same day i bought the set and the temple of mount Everest with all accessories. Looking forward to having them and watching the rest of this series.
Perfect timing! The Everest leg of this expedition is so unique. 😊
The summer of slug hideout
While I'm kinda "eh" on her new face, Pippin's fashionable outfit and especially her Mongolian style hat are a highlight for me.
I'm loving these videos. Orient Expedition is one of my favorite old school LEGO themes!
Actually had this and the Everest temple set as a kid, I was so fond of them! I’ve really been meaning to dig through my bin and put them back together. ♡ thanks so much for the content, Slugger. :3
Ooooh those are also the only Orient Expedition sets I had!
I've also been meaning to check if I still have all the parts. I reckon they should be pretty complete still, though I sadly have lost the instructions, cards, and tiles 😢
I remember getting this at a trip to Legoland one time
The lurps and burps are the bane of my existence. I know for a fact that these parts will cause a delay in the 3rd season of the Chima Retrospective. Hopefully someone at Lego see's this plight and maybe puts them in a creator set. (HINT HINT). Stop motion and photography are dependent on these parts...
keep it up, slug! your video quality peaks higher than everest itself!
absolutely phenomenal music as always, this may just be my favourite soundtrack for any of your retrospectives
Thank you! (I'm still quite partial to the Time Cruisers score myself) 😉
Now it makes sense why this is the rarest of the three monster sets... the white baseplate and lurp
Probably the most desirable monster figure too, I'd imagine? An abominable snowman likely has more applications than the other two. 👍
Not to mention the set exclusive Pippin figure!
@@RRSlugger yeah, if you want this version of the character it's either this, a retailer exclusive with a rare and desirable animal, or the biggest, most expensive set in the whole subtheme, both then and now
@@thecelestialtoygazer7816 Bingo!
@@RRSlugger The Yeti is CHEAP :D
Fantastic ep as always!
I’ve been waiting for this for weeks, I loved the video, worth the wait
Another great video. I really enjoy how you always analyze the premise of a set itself amd even alternate builds, keep up the great videos man
I have a few questions regarding the _Orient Expedition_ Board Game:
1) What is the maximum number of players for the board game? I assume that the maximum is four players, which is the standard amongst most board and video games.
2) What prerequisites do you have for those who want to play the board game using their own Minifigures? For example, what if a group of players want to play the _Orient Expedition_ Board Game using Minifigures of Johnny Thunder, Lloyd Garmadon, Chase McCain, and Sonic the Hedgehog? Would the Guest Minifigures still be tied to a selected Character Card? (For example, Sonic selects Pippin Reed's Character Card, giving him Pippin's stats.)
3) What if a Guest Minifigure like Sonic picks up a backpack, but there is not enough clearance for it to be equipped on the Minifigure? I assume that the backpack passively sits on his player card, still functioning like it does in the normal game, and is still subjectable to being lost.
4) Would the usage of any Guest Minifigures heavily affect the challenges? For example, what if Sonic fails a challenge and gets subjected to falling through a trapdoor, but his quills and nose catch a ledge, preventing him from falling? Does he still fail the challenge?
5) If one cannot buy board game pieces for the board game, what alternatives do you have in mind? One idea I have is recreating the board game pieces using baseplates. In fact, can you please create instructions on substitutes for board game pieces?
Sorry for the delayed reply!
If you haven't already, you should definitely check out my video on the Scorpion Palace - in that one, I go through and outline all the facets of the Orient Expedition board game and answer many of your questions within it! 😊
As for brick built alternatives to the board game pieces, while that might seem tempting at first, the board game pieces themselves are usually cheaper to source than the parts needed to build a replacement anyways, so it's almost a self-defeating solution. I did scan all of the board game items and put them in my Scorpion Palace video description, so if you wanted to print them out and use them, you certainly could!
The real truth of the matter though is that the game is highly reliant on having the sets, minifigures, and board game accessories to function, and probably isn't worth your time or effort to make do with a facsimile. That's just my opinion on the game, at least! It's a fine addition to the sets if you have them already, but it isn't worth seeking out if you don't. 😕
I think something like the Time Cruisers board game (check out my video on that one too!) is a much more fun, concise, and adaptable LEGO experience that has a far lower cost to entry. The questions you posed in your comment here would be better suited to that game rather than this one.
thank you for blessing us with another fantastic video 🙏
Ι owned both the yeti set and the air balloon. While the air balloon has some interesting features, I always found it hard to integrate the balloon parts themselves into mocs.
I really enjoy the short historical excursions in your Adventurer videos!
The lego rock pieces are awesome. I love big molds
Wow, never knew that by pulling the handle the Yeti's lair opens, I feel like that's an incredible feature for its time. That goes for the alternate builds as well. As usual, excellent video Slug, keep up the nice work! The music is incredible as well!
Check out some of the other Adventurers sets. If there's one thing I miss from that era it's the creative play features! Other themes had great ones too, like the explosion features in Western for example.
Oh yes, the set they came with the original lego “ Wampa” much like a rock raiders have the original “rancor”
Thanks for another amazing video Slugger!!!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching! 😊
Thank you so much for your work. Your videos bring me so much joy!
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them! ❤️
Man, I love this set so much. I'm super nostalgic for it but even without that context I just love how much it suggests with so little. The cave feels like it could just be the entrance to a whole cavern. Great to see the alts in HD too!
I love this series o videos, I only just discovered your channel about a week ago, and I have barely been able to stop watching!
Thank you very much! Tons of stuff in the back catalog now! 😁
Oh man, I had this one. Good memories
I had this set and loved it!
Always a good time when our favorite slug uploads a video 🌝
4:20 I think I see why this was no longer used: the other rock pieces that we see nowadays were introduced shortly after this theme in Alpha Team's final frozen installment, and the aesthetic designs of LEGO sets was ready to change. That being said, the rock piece is still produced to this day and with other applications. I think the closest modern set this piece could have been featured in white was 31025 Mountain Hut from 2014, which has an icecap to climb. But given that it's a Creator 3-in-1 set, they probably decided to make the piece Light Bluish Gray for versatility.
There's very few pieces that I hate the look of more than that prefab Alpha Team ice piece you mentioned. So it's like a BURP with *less* connection points and a non-LEGO looking protrusion? Who asked for this? Haha 💀
This is such a well condensed set. It looks really good
great video sluggggger!
Thank you!
Hey Slugger, damn, 35.2k subscribers? You've come a long way, I hate that the RUclips algorithm hasn't been flooding my recommended with your videos this year, hey but keep up the great work and keep uploading when you want to upload, I feel like by 2025 you will reach one million subscribers, just, make sure you don't stress yourself out or get burnt out from uploading, take breaks every now and again, maybe switch up the content every five videos so that you can prevent a burn out, but anyways, have a good rest of the day and keep up the amazing work man, I'm gonna just be watching the videos of yours that I haven't watched yet, cya
Thank you! Yes, it's been a while since the algorithm had its eyes on my channel, but I'm fine with it. I always make videos under the assumption that anyone watching has already seen my videos before, and what better way to ensure that than not reaching a bunch of random people via the algorithm? 😉
If you want to keep up with my uploads, be sure to check your subscription tab every now and then! I've slowed my pace this year, aiming for one new video every 2 weeks. 👍
Otherwise, enjoy the ones you've missed!
Mr Doug Slug, this video is my friday night. Thank you sir. Also that piece of music at the end was rad as chad
Thank you! That tune was called "Marco Polo" - one of the original songs I make for the channel. 🙂
That was one of the only two sets i got from this series - still oved it even more!
Great video again R.R. and as a Dutchy "Dingus" sounds allot like "Dinges" indeed. Whe use Dinges, mostly, to point out someone whos name whe forgot. Like "whats his name again? You know, Dinges who makes great Lego videos." 😁😁
Haha, I appreciate the insight! Thanks! 😊
Another relic of my childhood!
Awesome set, recently picked it up as it was a missing piece from my childhood. Best lego theme. Best lego themed youtube channel. Keep up with the these quality videos!
Thank you! Will do! ❤️
I love the Yeti. It looks so goofy.
i had this set as a kid i had no idea it had so much lore! also im pretty sure i still have most of the pieces, i definitely have both minifigs
A year ago or so, I just decided to splurge on a NIB version of the set and build it. The box was already caved in so I didn't feel too bad about cracking it open, hahaha.
There's a lost magic to Lego that I feel you can only appreciate if you build the set new. The old bags with tiny holes in them, all the extra cards and maps included, the classic brown and grey colors; buying it used doesn't do it justice when most of the pieces will have been damaged or discolored by now.
This theme came out a few years before I started getting into Lego, so particularly the Temple of Mount Everest and the Chinese Palace set are two items that always seemed to lie just ever so slightly out of my grasp.
I'd still get the Chinese Palace if it wasn't $800+ on Ebay! Maybe I still will someday. Lego discontinuing those raised baseplates in 2011 with Pharaoh's Quest was *TRULY* the end of an era, and people are beginning to realize that.
Nice!! Oh, I know the feeling of *just* missing out on cooler LEGO. Most of the stuff I talk about on this channel is before my time, but I've always been drawn to LEGO from the 90s, even though I had very little of it growing up.
My bday gift from the slugger. Perfect
Hey, happy birthday! ❤️
I salute you for being able to work out the play features of those alt builds. 💪🏼🧠 I've never been able to figure them out based on the small, grainy pics we're provided.
I definitely had help with that! These alt builds can be tough. 🙂
I guess I mixed together the Temple of Mount Everest and this Yeti set in my memory, haha. I must have been seeing a lot of these sets in my Lego magazine.
I mean, nothing stopping you from putting the Yeti in the Temple basement. They both even have similar doors, Yeti should feel right at home.
4:03 Actually, the LURP was used later on in at least 1 set that I know of: The Lego Spongebob Squarepants set, "Adventures in Bikini Bottom", released in 2006. 2 of them in gray (or maybe blue-gray) were used to make Patricks' rock house!
Yes, the *mould* is used quite a bit, but a piece is truly mould + colour. That combo sadly ended here. 😭
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Slugger upload? LETS FUCKKKKKKKINNNNNNGGGGGGG GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
5:30 In German, it'd be called "Dingens" or just "Dings". So I don't think you're too far off :P
Also, I agree with you on the female torsos. Not that I mind the fact they're trying to suggest hips, but it just looks... bad. It's literally just drawn on and so pointless.
The yeti is my favorite of the three - I like simplicity. It's followed by the dragon costume, which is also really cool. Not gonna lie, I think the tiger looks too silly to be a monster - seems like it belongs in a Duplo set. Of course, I still collected it, because I'm a completionist.
7:20 the flags theory sounds plausible, as Sam does have cronies in every region. So it could belong to them just as much as it belongs to him. I doubt any would survive a Yeti encounter, however.
Hi slugger! Just remember, we support you and we love to see your content, if you ever feel alone or sad. Just remember. We support you❤
Didn't expect to see you here!
Once again an absolutely amazing video! I love the way you tell the tales of the (in my opinion best) Lego Series ever! Keep up the great work Slug!
Also I can’t quiet remember if you mentioned the Audio-Book for Orient Expedition (I think u did) and I am also not too sure if there is an English version, since all I found on the internet is in german - but if you want to make a video on this I sure would be pleased to help you out in translation of the Audio!
Greetings from Germany! :)
Thank you! And I appreciate the willingness to help! If memory serves, I found an English translation of the transcript about a year ago; I didn't have any immediate plans to cover it though, just to pull useful relevant information from it, similar to how I used the Time Cruisers radio plays in that series. 😊
9:00 Maybe the light grey hinge bit is supposed to represent a rock that needs to be moved out of the way in order to see that there is a gem underneath the structure, to which the white rope is then pulled to slide the structure back and make the gem accessible?
Maybe! It's a mystery to me.
Loving this series so much! Though I prefer the head print from the pervious waves, this Pippin figure is nice, too bad for those cracls on yours. Interestingly, the last time that hat piece appeared was in the Harry Potter Durmstrang ship, and there's apparently a new one coming this summer. Maybe we will see a similar piece again?
I have this set since I was a kid and still have it around, not built together yet but I will at some point, probably will have to get a replacement torso since I used to customize mine multiple times, luckily I have seen some at reasonable prices or even great prices on certain parts
The accessory port on the turban was made use of, though: In the cms genie figure.
You're totally right - I missed that one in my research for the video! Now I've gotta track one of those down, haha. 😅
I remember the Yeti from this set was also used as a stand-in for the Wampa for many Lego Star Wars MOCs back in the day. I attended a convention as a kid once and noticed that for one of the displays. This was in 2012, a good year or two after the official Wampa figure was introduced
I mean, the actual wampa’s pretty rare too. I think it was only in like two sets and then never appeared again.
@@EternityKingdomsHeadHoncho This was when the Hoth Wampa Cave was still available
ITS HERE
Dutchie here, so here's your citation: dinges (spelled with an e instead of a u though) definitely translates to 'thingy', as well as 'whatshisname'. So you'd say "I'm going to dinges later" about a semi-friend's party or "where's the dinges" when you're looking for the remote. I wouldn't be surprised if the word exists in Danish as well! Dutch and Danish are quite similar. Great video!
Thanks for the citation! ❤️
Had parts of this set, yeti was missing an arm but he ended up with the robo-rider trans blue ice lance as a weapon
Looked cool asf with it
Haha, Cyber-Yeti! 😆
That yeti dude was always fun. I wish I didn't lose the figure. I imagine he costs a pretty penny on Bricklink.
The third build is a Yeti blacksmith shop, you can't convince me otherwise 😂
This is great! 😂
The fact that white baseplate is exclusive shows how dirty LEGO has done sets with snow
I love you slugger!!!
❤️❤️❤️
Up the mountain we gooo!
I always wondered whether the "clubs" were supposed to be prayer wheels.
I never thought of that! 😮
I remember being very confused about the "clubs" when I saw this set in a catalogue. The gears made me think that they were part of some sort of mechanism to open the door. I don't think I realized they're supposed to be weapons until now.
This set would have been uninteresting to me at the time (the monster figure looks kind of un-lego to me, and I preferred vehicles back then), but I'd definitely pick it up now if I saw it at an old LEGO reseller!
Some folks have mentioned that they could be Tibetan prayer wheels - that's something I never considered!
I need to build myself a golden dingus now
I definitely agree about the "female" torso. I absolutely hate it and look forward to it being completely gone, if it isn't already. I'm not sure about other themes but Ninjago got rid of it.
Subtractive texturing is always hit-or-miss. With Lego I lean more towards miss.
Give male minifigures subtractive texturing
Twink minifig representation!!
Yes, it makes it difficult to mix and match

@@samchilds1099 All minifigures have the same body type apart from 3 different leg sizes. Twinkness needs to be shown within those boundaries.
One thing I love about this era of LEGO is how many exclusive parts appear even in small sets. These days, you won’t get anything “exclusive” in a set less than $300. Even in the 80s/early 90’s, most of the rare parts were only in larger sets.
Indeed, though I'm only a fan of it because of how notable it makes some sets as points of interest. I'm NOT a big fan of how rare it makes some pieces, like the big white rock piece in this set. 😅
Don't think I ever commented before. But I have watched many of your videos. It's great stuff for a fellow retro Lego fan!
Thank you, and welcome to the comment section! I read them all, even if I’m unable to reply to all of them. 😊
@@RRSlugger Any plans on Lego Studios reviews? The Horror sub-theme was amazing back in the day 😃
@@strutsstudios I want to tackle some of the Studios sets in a video over the summer! 😊
