I grew up in a very small town in the US so I didn't know about any luxury brands (or any fashion brands in general) until I moved to a bigger city in my 20's. I'm really starting to see and appreciate the quality of these products now. I love, love, LOVE watching your unboxings and shopping vlogs, Mel. I've learned so much about not just how to style these pieces from you but how to pick out pieces that truly suit you.
I'm still a little scared of walking into a store but planning on making my trip soon! It sounds a little silly but I grew up really poor so I didn't know that you were allowed to touch the bags they have out until I watched your vlogs. AND I was super shocked by the fitting rooms, but now that I think ahout it... How else would people try these clothes on?? lol. So, so excited to pick out a nice bag for myself soon. It's my gift to myself for going back to college after nearly 10 years...!!!!

And you are so right, it IS a big (and super fun n exciting) investment. Looking forward to working with a sales associate so that what I buy is really what I want. It took me about a decade to reach this point of financial security where I can even think about shopping and school again, so it doesn't feel like just a luxury purchase but more like I'm investing into how I got here and where I want to go in life.
My first dream bag will be the YSL Sunset medium satchel in blanc vintage!! I actually saw this bag in your YSL video and it had all the features I was looking for! Top handle, crossbody chain, AND back pocket?? DONE DEAL. It's so classy AND looks super functional.

I was told by an LV SA that Hawaiian $$$ is a competition between Asia & US mainland. Plus, the sales tax is way cheaper. The highest sales tax in US mainland (CA) is 10.75%. So you’ll save a lot especially when buying big ticket items while on vacation.

I enjoyed your Hawaii videos. For my money the Premium Factory outlets a bus ride (free) from Waikiki were the best! They have outlets of department stores like Sakks and I purchased many Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein handbags and ready to wear. Worth vlogging about next time.

This is true about taxes in Hawaii. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and our tax rate is 8.75. So that's a good chunk in savings way to go Mel on that discount!

Hi Mel! Love, love, love your unboxing videos as always! I’m just curious if you have to declare all the goods you’ve obtained overseas over AUD$900 with customs on arrival? My friend came back from Paris and brought an Alma BB with her back in AU and customs charged her tax on the bag while another friend brought a Classic Flap from London and customs didn’t charge her anything? Can you please do a video on this topic please as it’s very confusing 🙏🏼😊 TIA! ✨✨✨
So glad you enjoy my videos :) In every country it works differently but in Australia I find it really depends on the custom's officer. I have been charged tax before on my purchases and other times I don't. For this trip as the flight was Mel-Sydney-Honolulu when we got back, we check through the smart gate then had to transfer to a domestic flight. I always tick the box "brought goods over $900" but they sent us through straight to domestic. So I'm not sure on the exact process either lol but I always think it's better to declare than not too x
