Yeah! Cute! I love your animals, trees and portraits. I am sure that by working on portraits and understanding how faces and anatomy impact the face that MY bird paintings get better too. But that is for me and how I like to draw when I go out with my family. I like seeing you have fun and am open to you stretching to new things if it makes sense. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. It makes sense that your youtube channel will reflect what you want to do at that moment. Maybe there will be a cute tree friend that shows up or not. Looking forward to the cuteness. I loved hearing you speak about not putting pressure on yourself! I needed to hear that. I would give people the same advise...but I have a hard time following it myself. I related with so many of the things you said in this video. Especially being here for the art friends...and the time factor! That si always huge for me. Bravo for enjoying your LIFE and having art be a fun hobby, to add joy to your life!! That is what I'm here for as well, and you are such an inspiration!! I agree with Moni, too! Who cares if you stretch yourself?!? If I could paint beautiful portraits, as she does I would paint nothing else! Do what you love, and art stays fun instead of becoming another job. I went on a Social Media break in attempt to get my art mojo back. So, I'm binge watching all your videos now. ;D I love all of your cute animals, and I love hearing your excitement as you paint them!! Please keep sharing them with us! 💗

Maggie, I would share this video with almost every art channel here on RUclips, but I think the powers that govern our behaviour here wouldn't accept that.
My message, as ever, is 'just be you, yourself, and just do what pleases you and destresses you, makes you giggle, makes you happy." We will enjoy it along with you, because of who you are, not what you draw or paint (though we enjoy that, too, obviously!). If you stress yourself out trying to 'get better because ...' or 'do something different because...' you will lose the essential _you_ .
With your day job, the last thing you need when you get home is stress Ok, we all have that at home at times, but that's where our art helps us. Your art helps to keep you sane. So again, "just do you and be happy." We will be happy with you, cos that's why we watch your channel - because you are you, you're different, and you make very different art from the overworked topics of most channels (which for me, soon become boring to watch).
BTW, I commented on Moni's reply to you...
*Note to others before they attack me* : This is my personal opinion, and while it may not agree with yours, it is still a valid opinion, as is yours. There _are_ some other good channels, but I am finding that there are less and less of them carrying original topics, and more and more that are too similar. I'm glad that I've found a few of the good ones (and as you know, Maggie some of these are your friends. I wonder why that might be? 🤔 )

      @@CreatingCuteArt Wall of Text:
First off, thanks for always allowing us to join you while you work in your sketchbooks on a consistent weekly basis! I am always looking forward to it. I admire that I get to see what I consider to be a legitimate, fun sketchbook session that doesn’t feel “staged” but is so enjoyable to watch, this week we got an adorable heartnosed sloth baby drawn with a Lamy Safari and gorgeous ink (😍🤤).
It was very touching to hear that my video helped you to make a decision for yourself to no longer stretch at the cost of the fun! Because that tagline of yours, “Time for some Art Fun” is exactly why I am so intrigued by everything you do! There’s too many artists striving for perfection and stretching to the point it just becomes a chore and a homework. The reasons can vary, to please an audience, to feel valid. In the end it doesn’t matter. While this can lead to improvement, often time it doesn’t, especially if you feel so much resistant to do this chore and don’t do anything, or you end up drawing subjects and styles that don’t have your soul.
I believe that if you draw a lot, things that you love and adore, over time improvement will come automatically, you will try something else because you feel like it, because you are playful and strive for fun, NOT because someone out there said “you should / do this”. Every art material will cause some issues and this will put you in a position to work with it or around it, you learn something new or discover a happy accident that wouldn’t have happened if you did a “chapter 2 of the anatomy book” task. I get that you feel guilty and would want to improve but I already know that you have improved and continue to do so, and that this want for improvement is something that is in us. But guess what: There are masters, absolute pros, out there who have sleepless nights because they still have imposter syndrome, they do art for galleries that is being critiqued and they still feel like they didn’t do enough. Do you wanna be this person? No, we don’t wanna be this person 😂❤
I love that you use references and just PLAY and have fun! That’s not tracing and definitely not cheating, you always disclose and I personally think many artists do this, beginner, intermediate, pro. You build muscle memory and a visual library. In music nobody finds issue with cover songs, playing or singing along to someone else’s song but in their unique voice. I can’t sing but I keep doing it while dusting or showering anyway, nobody can stop me and nobody can stop you from drawing away and having fun. We are HERE for it! Again, you have improved and you will keep improving :)
You got me thinking there, about us on RUclips doing these finished pieces at a well lit desk more than just sitting on the couch or sketching away. I think for me it’s just most comfortable at a desk but I believe maybe it’s time to share more of my doodles and inbetween sketches. I am the messiest sketcher there is, basically there’s like 10 lines around a face and in my head I know exactly which one is the correct one, I don’t emphasize it, I know and move on. When I showed people my sketches in the past they often times couldn’t recognize what I drew 😅 There must be a way to adapt my sketching style in a way that feels still natural to me but that others can read 😊 Point is: I am too tired of too perfect: Perfect Vlogs, perfect homes, perfect pretty young people, I want realness. I love that you are You, Maggie ❤

@@MoniDmajor Moni, the whole of this post, and Maggie's video, is something we need to keep shouting out - maybe just one person will hear our message and be helped, and then that one person may help others, too...
Too many folk are aiming for ArtTube channels, thinking it's a way to 10,000 subscribers and enough 'big bucks and fame' in order to give up a day job, just at a point when ArtTube has overbalanced itself (with considerable aid from the powers-that-be (TPTB) in this particular corner of the art world) with so many similar channels, and ever-changing demands on the Artist to conform in order to achieve their (TPTB) monetary targets...
Please, don't try and adapt your sketchbook work, or your work in general. Let it _adjust_ itself, as it surely will, without you even thinking about it. And then it will just be you being you, and you will be relaxed and fulfilled, and as everything turns, that in turn will naturally bring change in its natural time and you will be relaxed and fulfilled....
As ever, a gentle hug. 😊

@@MoniDmajor please do share the in between sketches and doodles! I love even your pretty swatch pages and think how much we love that sort of sketchbook play from friends like @NatashaNewton just as much as her wonderful polished pieces. I loved this comment so much and read it twice before responding but still can’t get together all my thoughts about responding!😂🤣 I also love painting in longer sessions at my comfy art desk with the good lighting, but when I’m busy at work I’m more often doing these sort of terribly lit couch and cafe sessions! I just wanted to share and expand on your idea that got me going, that doing art purely for fun is just as valid as doing it to specifically hone a particular skill or fluency with a particular medium, and I definitely improve faster when I let go of the pressure and just make SOMETHING, anything, as often as possible! Thank you for the permission-to-play mentality reinforcement!🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
