Lol. You can tell who the people are that can actually ride, mules go straight over, give the mule lots of rein and head room, and have enough balance not to fall off. XD
Because you can't do 2 point in a western saddle. Western people thus jump the way they used to before the forward seat was invented. It actually looks like they're practicing staying on to me :P.
Jennifer R. Povey You can two point while riding as long as you are riding a stirrup length that allows your heel to be naturally down. But if you choose to lean forward some before a jump, be sure you are NOT wearing a belt. It can get hooked around the saddle horn. But of course, you can't be over your leg like jumping, or you'll get punched by the saddle horn. I would like to see this done with an Australian saddle that allows a more upright seat than the chair seat they often encourage. I jumped in one a long time ago but never found another that allowed the forward seat if you slightly shortened the stirrups. Some of the Western Equitation saddles allow you to sit in good alignment but still have a saddle horn.
My mule can jump too!... I trained him to jump in the back of my truck when he was 3. Not sure if he will do it now... The ole fart is 20 now... **Now for the serious question. I'm looking for a mule saddle... What would you recommend?

My mule jumps real smooth. I don't ever touch that horn. Put your heels in and your toes out, spurs help too.
I would you make them jump if you can`t stay on? They are pretty mules though.

Nice mules, but when jumping go with the mule. Don't lean backward, lean forward.
