    Salaam, My Dear Sheikh,
For years I have listened to your lectures and without exception, I’ve enjoyed them all. It is a joy to listen to the CONTENT of your talks. It shows the incredible width and depth of your reading, your knowledge and your research and how well you analyze what you have read in terms of Islam.
I don’t think that I’ve heard any other Sheikh of present day with such a deep know, edge of all spheres of learning - literature, history, linguistics, et al.
I admire the way you COMMUNICATE your ideas. Best of all, you understand how to reach your audience. In a world where ideas are communicated through fire and brimstone, amidst all the clamor that surrounds us, your calm, low pitched voice, the softness of the tone, the tenor, the clarity of your presentation command attention. I feel that you and your audience are having a tete-a-tete over dinner.
Everything is a vehicle for spreading Islam.
Thank you and may Almighty Allah continue to bless you with good health, with His rahma and His blessed Nur.
BTW, I am enjoying the book you recommended written by Martin Lings - “MUHAMMAD”.
May I also comment on the beauty of the landscaping of the campus of Zaytuna college? It looks so calm and so peaceful, planned only to enhance and encourage learning and introspection and discussion.
I’m very old now (77) but InshaAllah, I’ll continue to listen to your lectures.
    Jazak Allahi Khairun

Jazakallah Khair for this lesson. Recently, a good Catholic teacher was first assaulted, then murdered by two wicked students who didn’t want to learn Spanish. Abuses of Muslim women and girls are rampant in today’s culture. especially in public school systems.

Really efficient!! Indeed, one of Allah's 99 names is "Al Haq" which means the truth in Arabic. So Man should follow The Truth and not those who make-believe they're telling it.

Thank you Shaykh for this knowledge. I don't think that a person (hearing about these things), normally thinks this deeply and then certainly there is an adverse affect. I am thankful for this explanation because it can be used as "armour" for future events as well as explanation of current and past events as well. And yes having a teacher is extremely important as this talk is example of.

    Dear Sheikh Hamza Yousaf,
It was exactly at the right time. I also read the paper that you refer to. However I find it too short and missing interconnected links that let people internalize thing by relating. and I understand that it's short because it's a translation. However, we would be very very obliged if you do a short talk on this to elaborate. JazakAllah

What if you don't have any person at all to look up nor did such a person need anyone where seeking knowledge sufficed from the very beginning and you get tried in such a way that weakens your faith so drastically despite your great efforts to devote yourself ? I found myself in such a terrible situation where I said to Allah "you know my intentions and so do I. What is the reasons as to why such tribulation or punishment happens?

The reality is that most people don't have anybody in particular to follow. U'less you're a student of jurisprudence or seeking knowledge that require explanation by an expert and a structure to follow through, just like pursuing a phd, unless that's the case, you don't need anyone teacher. Speaking for myself, I went to a Quran school when I was a kid and of course I needed a teacher at that point, but I didn't continue on that path. I memorized the Quran and I eventually continued in public school. I never felt the need for a teacher. My father isn't a scholar but he was pious man who taught me what and how of the fundamentals. After that it was on me to learn from different scholars. And today with all the material out there, you just need to be grounded enough. I know friends and aquaintences that feel they have to have somebody to follow. They Revere the imam of the community masjid whom I respect, but I don't think of him like a Teacher or spiritual leader or something. A lot of time is just a personality thing or cultural. When it gets difficult, pray and read Quran and keep friendship with like minded people. I find it more important for me and my faith to be around good Muslim friends than to have a teacher. I hope I expressed myself accurately- I know I said more than I intended to say when I started

I think Hamza has missed the point about loosing faith.
When a highly regarded preacher of any faith is exposed by scandal he is shown to be a hypocrite, someone who acted the religious preacher but didn't really walk the talk.
inThe case of Anthony Flew he wasn't a hypocrite he simply had a change of mind and heart the same as someone who was a Christian reverts to Islam.
Ravi Zacharias didn't have a change of heart, he was living a double life .
What does this teach us, well we are all fallable and so we should exalt or raise other humans up on a pedestal
