I like how this accurately portrays just how outmatched humanity were against the Covenant. The Elites were a force of nature since they’ve been trained from birth as warriors, and that combined with advanced technology made them even deadlier. Although, I will say I was kind of disappointed they didn’t go up against Brutes since they were responsible for the attack on Harvest, and I got my hopes up when they joked about tracking a Yeti. I will say that I’m disappointed you’re moving on from the What Ifs, but it’s understandable since they could get a bit fanfictiony at times (they were still mostly good aside from a few hiccups). I also like the new direction where you’re making various short stories that could potentially exist within the Halo universe. Maybe, you could throw in some cut content (weapons, vehicles, and wildlife) into the mix. I’m glad that they’ve canonized a lot of Digsite content. Speaking of Digsite content, and stories that could potentially exist in Halo. If you make another set on Harvest perhaps you could have the thing be set during the events of Halo Wars and have one of the scouting parties come across the corpse of the cut Harvest Whales being picked by birds like the concept art. Maybe, you could even throw in some of the Arctic Ice Hounds and have those things go after the lesser Covenant that got lost from the group, and eating the corpses of dead soldiers because they’re malnourished from most of their prey dying. Good job on this. Looking forward to seeing what you make next.
Thank you so much for watching, let me address your whole comment though. I’m sorry to disappoint with not having brutes. I was working under several restrictions to myself. The way I envisioned the story was by “the ghosts of harvest” are real. As in, invisible creatures. So I went with elites. I didn’t wanna go with a bunch of elites though, but i knew they I wanted them to be hunting artifacts. So what made most sense to me was having a few cloaked elites scouting and observing the humans. And although first major contact with the covenant on the ground was brutes, that’s why I worked around the premise of. These guys have been out of contact with the UNSC for weeks. That means first contact was already made in mainland harvest, and the war has begun. It’s just they don’t know that. I wanted to make the yeti be brutes. I really did. But my heart was not in it to make it so obvious. In retrospect though I think it would’ve worked just as well or better. As far as what ifs go I am going back to them after the video I posted today. I LOVE writing these stories (STORIES IN THE HALO UNIVERSE) as I’ve been calling them. And that’s my favorite part of my own Chanel. But seeing how little views they get makes me realize people don’t really wanna hear these. Some of you guys Love these stories, and I really appreciate it. But most everyone is here for the what ifs. I feel like those just get very repetitive. As far as digsits goes. I like a lot of the cut content finally making it back, and I do like the idea of adding some of it but the reason I don’t is cause most people aren’t familiar with it. THAT being said though, if any of it fits in a story I’m telling, I will gladly and lovingly add it to the story. That explains it. Maybe, you could’ve had Brute Stalkers be searching for Relics. Although, that might not work since I have no idea if the Covenant would’ve trusted Brutes with recovering Forerunner artifacts or cloaking devices at that point (I’m sure if they were given cloaking tech the Elites would’ve sabotaged it, causing the thing to be faulty and occasionally make the Brutes partially visible. Come to think of it, that actually could’ve worked really well. Then you’d be able to have some of the characters think they’re going crazy when they’ll see things the rest of the squad can’t). It wasn’t until later when Truth saw how useful and fiercely loyal they were when they were able to rise through the ranks and eventually supplant the Elites (in Halo 2’s original ending Truth killing off the other two hierarchs and plunging his own empire into civil war actually made sense. C3Sabertooth’s animated versions of 2’s story cards are really interesting. Theres some things I’m really disappointed didn’t make it into the game, and there’s somethings are would’ve messed up the game. Same goes for cut content and balancing changes that Vengeful Vadam’s Halo 2 Uncut mod brought to light). Having the squad be separated from the UNSC and being out of the loop was a good idea. I also liked how the story was mostly self contained and after taking out the Elite their costly victory was only momentary. Something else I liked how in a way they caught up with the Insurrectionists they were after. For me one of Halo’s biggest missed opportunities is the fact that outside of a few books and the dumpster fire show (some people have said season 2 electric boogaloo is better than season 1. Others have said it’s just as bad and in some ways worse. Haven’t watch watched it because I know I won’t like it. One thing I can say if if they stay their course and continue to make atrocious decisions like killing off Keyes in a gas explosion BEFORE they even make it to the Ring, include the mystics that don’t really fit in Halo, and other things like that I’ll be willing to check it out because so bad they’re good movies/shows are my FAVORITE “genre”. We might even get something on par with the 90s live action Mario movie if we’re lucky😂) you almost NEVER see humans vs humans conflicts. I also think the lack of human enemies was another major missed opportunity. We should’ve been fighting alongside Brutes and against humans as the Arbiter prior to the Great Schism in 2. It would’ve added some much needed enemy variety to the Arbiter’s repetitive sections by making you go against an enemy that makes you play the game differently (after playing several mods with human enemies I can safely say that they’re at their best when there’s a bunch of cover and flanking routes for you and the enemy to hunt each other with. When you combine that with the Arbiter’s cloaking ability it makes you feel like the Predator), it would’ve also made the eventual human Elite alliance feel far shakier and like one of desperation, and if we got the original ending with it’s “big reveal” they could’ve shown Sentinels fighting alongside their Reclaimers who can naturally interface with technology that’s normally unresponsive as a way to foreshadow the human Forerunner connection Bungie had planned. Having Brute Allie’s would’ve been a great way to make them feel like a proper member species of the Covenant if they actually did stuff, instead of just kind of being there until Bungie needed a new enemy type. It also would’ve been a great way to show the player what Brutes are capable of before you have to fight them, and it would’ve made their eventual betrayal feel far more impactful if you got to see Brutes and Elites fighting and dying alongside each other for a common goal. Infinite also should’ve had human enemies since the Banished will let anyone join as long as you’re competent and loyal to their cause. They could’ve had Insurrectionists who threw in with the Banished sabotage the Infinity, and used that for the explanation for why the UNSC’s most advanced ship was so quickly overrun. Then for the rest of the game you’d have to deal with turncoats in the form of normal humans and even some Spartan 4s. The game also should’ve taken place during and shortly and right after the Infinity went down. Infinite has the same problem as BOTW the most of interesting stuff happens in the past and it makes you wish you were playing that game instead. Yeah, I can definitely understand wanting to move on and being frustrated with the fact that a lot of people are just here for one type of content. From what I’ve heard a lot of RUclipsrs will eventually start to hate working on their channels because they get boxed in, and they massively change up their content because it will alienate their audience and the algorithm doesn’t like change/variation. That’s why you’ll see people Nostalgia Critic and Jim Sterling do those terrible skits that nobody likes and barely fit since they can’t have those be separate videos. Makes sense. You’re definitely right about the fact that most people wouldn’t know what you’re talking about and would likely assume you just made stuff up when it comes to implementing cut content into your stories. If done right I think it could really enhance the setting. Same goes for fanon (fan canon) content. Good luck on whatever you do next. Hopefully, people will like it. The guy stretched the lore into all kinds of weird directions and implemented things form the new games that don’t fit with his fanfiction/game). This happen due to a combination of cramming certain characters into events where they don’t belong, adding fan lore/characters to the story, and the fact that as you change stuff and build on that it’s only inevitable that the story will grow into its own thing as the writer makes changes to their version of the setting. Plus, if the thing lacks a narrative end the author is pretty much forced to make up all kinds of new stuff because they would’ve resolved most of the stuff from the official thing, and introduced a lot of other plot threads that will develop overtime. At that point you’d be better off just filing off the serial numbers and making that into its own ip because it only vaguely resembles what it’s originally based on.
