Knight Cat: We're glad you're enjoying #ETFBattles and we began the show not knowing how viewers would react. Thus far, we've been grateful for the response, feedback and suggestions. Michael Jordan once said he doesn't know what he's gonna do until he "gets into the air." And while we're always prepared for each episode, ultimately we don't know what we're gonna do, say or what's gonna actually happen until we get into the air. The element of surprise, aside from the first-class analysis, keeps all of us on our toes. Thanks again and we look forward to hearing from you again.
Wow! I'm happy to have stumbled upon this new channel via Seeking Alpha! I am just starting out and consider myself a dividend investor. I actually have shares in both VYM and NOBL and based on this video, I don't see an issue in keeping both for the reason being that there are large enough differences between the two and can add a fair amount of diversity to my portfolio. Keep up the good work!
Aielo: Glad you found #ETFBattles and glad to be of service. Check out our other NOBL matchup, here's the link: ruclips.net/video/p8cDKP242CU/видео.html
VYM was the first ETF that I bought. That was in 2011. Since then, I've focused on ETFs in my taxable accounts, moving away from new investments in mutual funds.
The shift to ETFs is a smart move and what many investors have done over the past few years. Not sure if you saw it, but we just did a video about mutual funds vs. ETFs. Thanks Dave for dropping by and we hope to hear from you again. ruclips.net/video/tx7lDeKHOGA/видео.html
@@etfguide I make smart moves only after I've exhausted all the bad ones. :) In the mid 90's I looked at the early etf products, but I didn't have a brokerage account then and there weren't the good resources like we have now to learn. Never got warm and fuzzy over the HOLDers. :) I have 10 ETFs in my taxable account. It is easy to sell particular lots to get the tax treatment that I like. Thanks for the video link. I'll have a look.
@@daveschmarder-US1950 LOL on the smart moves Dave! WB said, "The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect." Generally, we think it's best to have both. RE: The HOLDRs?...wow, that's pretty old school. We remember them and they were OK during their day when there weren't that many good sector ETF choices, but HOLDRs had plenty of structural flaws. Today, the industry sector ETF category is among the largest within the overall ETF market and getting inexpensive exposure to the sectors you desire to overweight has never been more affordable. It's literally a buyers market!
Could have mentioned that VYM is market-cap weighted while NOBL is equal-weighted. This limits NOBL's top holding to around 1.6%, while VYM effectively has no limits, currently JNJ is around 4%.
Matt: Good point and as such, you could make an effective argument that VYM has a momentum bias whereas NOBL doesn't. VYM's strategy is particular beneficial in a bull market environment. In a different market cycle, NOBL would likely do better.
Jose: "Underweight" means the ETFs have limited or very low exposure to a certain industry sector or group of stocks. Thanks for watching, Ron #ETFBattles
FYI Francisco, we just did an #ETFBattles of VIG vs. NOBL which is a more head-to-head comparison vs. the plain vanilla S&P 500 index. ruclips.net/video/p8cDKP242CU/видео.html
Kevin: Please shoot us which ARK ETFs you'd like to see in upcoming episodes of #ETFBattles and please name the competing ETF or ETFs you'd like to see. Ticker symbols please! Keep in mind, ETF matchups are head-to-head, although we've been known to do DOUBLE-HEADERS, if warranted. Here's an example of a recent DOUBLE HEADER with SPY taking cross-fire from all angles: ruclips.net/video/AAaB_0B3VZ0/видео.html
This is the most fun i've ever had listening to etf comparisons.

Thanks for the shoutout. You guys are great. Looking forward to more knowledge on ETF’s...

This is an oldie but a goodie! I have both, and you just cannot go wrong with either one!!!!
Thank you JM! We enjoy vintage ETF Battles too. Ron 8-)

Dgrw vs dgro
Got it. Thank you Mike!
What does Mike mean when he says that both are drastically "UNDERWEIGHT"?
Jose: "Underweight" means the ETFs have limited or very low exposure to a certain industry sector or group of stocks. Thanks for watching, Ron #ETFBattles
It would be great to see VIG go up against VYM.
Or maybe VIG vs the S&P5 Hundy ... VOO!!!

I love this!
Glad to hear that!
Would love your thoughts on the ARK Investment ETFs. The returns seem amazing, although the expense rate is high.

I would like to see this too! and have both ARKK and ARKW on my watch list.
