the animation, delivery, and characters themselves make it actually really fun and enjoyable
the direction is spot-on
reminds me so much of the likes of Iron Giant, Cats Don't Dance, How to Train Your Dragon, etc
even feel a lot of Sly Cooper influences, especially in the varied boss battles
it's genuinely so charming and fun and this game has made me smile and even laugh consistently in the entire 10 hours I've played it so far

its just an avg double a game to me, from what i seen, kena bring of sprits is better, and "Dust: An Elysian Tail"is better, from what i saw.

@@aaronclay4665 the thing is Hifi is "cringe" on purpose, bring back those old video game feels like Ratchet per example and it suit the universe of the game when in Forespoken the universe is kinda dark with a serious plot so the MC and the universe doesn't match and that's why people doesn't like Frey and i can understand but also they should chill about her and not only focusing only on her to say the game is bad and overhall look upon every bad things the game does for it's current date of release and how pricy it is !
@@aaronclay4665 So you clearly know nothing at all about artists’ intent. In the case of Hi-fi Rush, the devs are clearly going for a “Saturday morning cartoon” vibe (as Charlie even says in the first 15 minutes). It’s supposed to be a wacky game with exaggerated dialogue and such. That was the *intent*.
Forspoken, on the other hand, was a game that was trying to take itself completely seriously, and that was the artists’ intent. The issue is that the writers attempted to give the protagonist a personality through constant quippy dialogue. Instead of giving her “personality”, it just made her seem like an asshole who spouts MCU lines all the time.
@@aaronclay4665 There's a huge difference in presentation. Hi Fi Rush has a much more cohesive art style, animations, writing, etc so when the dialogue is campy, it fits considering that this is a game where you fight a robot werewolf on top of a pile of money with a guitar made of random garbage that can sometimes shoot lasers.
Forspoken meanwhile goes for a gritty realistic artstyle and even touches on some heavy themes like suicide. So most of its campy dialogue feels dissonant with the rest of the game.
HFR leans into its camp and has fun with it, while Forspoken almost feels ashamed of itself, like it needs to crack a joke because it's afraid of taking the magical elements too seriously. While HFR isn't afraid to make fun of itself and laugh along with everyone else.

9:20 is not that simple, Capcom: Clover Studio has been dissolved so a lot of devs moved on from Capcom and branched off to make other studios

So you must be thinking before knowing this info that how did the Tango go from horror to this type of game? Well, Shinji Mikami (one of the guys that founded PlatinumGames) the guy behind Resident Evil - 1,2,3,4, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Killer7, God Hand, Vanguish.
shinji mikami wasn't the guy behind most of those games. he was mostly a producer or executive producer including on hi-fi rush. out of those games he only directed RE 1, REmake, RE 4, God hand and Vanguish. i'm not saying he isn't important to any of these games but he isn't the guy behind them. other people like Suda 51, hideki kamiya were more impotant to the rest

@@aaronclay4665 Hi Fi Rush is a feel-good game where the main objective is for the player to have fun. I'd argue the writing for each character does well in achieving that objective. That makes it good writing. Chai is silly and goofy and his relationships with the other characters are just as OP describe - endearing.
Forspoken took itself way too seriously. It seemed the writers had some grand, dramatic story they wanted to tell but executed it extremely poorly.

This showed up after I watched MaxDood play, and I was very surprised at the night and day difference between chat experiences.

Honestly, I think Max have the best community in the entire gaming community. most of his audience are very mature, chills and having fun. I can confidently say that Max clearly has a lot of influence to his audiences.
This game is shaping up to be one of my favorites in a long time.
Chat fucking doesnt understand what it means to have fun. Theres no real hidden messages or anything its just supposed to be a game you have fun with. Its bright anime art style and campy dialogue leans into this because you're supposed to just let yourself have fun with it and not think too much into it. The world actively doesnt try to make you think too hard and basically goes "Yeah its a super fun and quirky world you're just supposed to accept and lean into the vibe"
I compare it a lot to sunset overdrive mixed with Kill la Kill in that sense where its so far past cringe its just fun. Like if you go into this fun quirky music beat em up expecting sekrio or elden ring idk what you want from this but it aint that. Its a fun game and i think Charlie should def play more
Furi Kuri mixed with JSR. I think it's trippy no one is drawing a parallel between Chai and Naota of FLCL. The flying V and being subject to a condition which Chai can't quite comprehend..
Speed runs of this game are gonna be sick
Maybe, there's like zero interesting movement tech though, so it might not be a great speed game.

I finished the main story earlier today. Fun game, though I think you could get through most of it just tapping X on the beat. Incorporating different combos makes it a lot more fun, though. The final stage with Kale gave me some trouble.
Well, yeah. You could skip by with that, but that's how it is with every character action game. That's why they grade you on variety.

I've found most people I've seen ignored those parts, and honestly I did too for most of the fight. The game mentions the fists and people end up fixating on only those the entire fights.
