- Welcome to the latest episode of my series Favourite Albums of All Time. Today I’m discussing Chicago V by Chicago. This is my favourite Chicago album, and where I became a fan of the band, although I knew some of the early 80s hits before I bought this album.

Your taste is impeccable!! And excellent analysis of great overlooked records!! Thank you sir for your diligent work..love the show
Im a massive fan of Terry Kath era Chicago his guitar playing and vocals were such an essential part of Chicago's classic sound as and Chicago v is a brilliant album love hit by Varese, dialogue parts 1 and 2 and since you've been gone it's some of their best deep cuts but my favorite Chicago from the Terry Kath era is Chicago viii it is some of Terry's finest guitar playing especially on the epic track oh thank you great spirit
Well done! I wish RUclips would allow you to play snippets of the recording, but... I enjoyed your breakdown. I am buying the 50 anniversary vinyl that Friday Music made today. I hope it is Audiophile quality. When I was 11 years old Saturday In The Park was my favorite song of all time. I had not listened to this for many years and I had forgotten how great the rest of the album was.
Chicago were and are still a great band, so many great albums and songs. 😄👍
You nailed it with your thoughts on this an VII. Both are very much jazz rock albums. Both don’t get talked about much. Thank you
It’s a fabulous album! A lot of people hear the name Chicago and think soft rock, power ballads. There’s so much more to this band’s catalogue!
@@bicyclelegsmusic you briefly mentioned VII. That one has a lot of pure fusion instrumentals on it! Making it my top album
Side 1 in particular of Chicago VII is breathtaking.
@@bicyclelegsmusic I read that side one and two or I should say all the jazz fusion tracks were what the band wanted the pop tracks the record company pushed to be on the album. Do a single album of the pop stuff. The band said no and it wound up a double album. Something like that.
