  • At first I thought it would be similiar to lowering the C7 and C6 cars on the bolts but its not. Here's my step by step guide I created on the Free & easy way to lower your C8 Z06 on the stock suspension. No need to go buy aftermarket springs or coilovers when you can do it at home with basic knowledge and basic tools watching my basic video 😄.
    As with Lower and any car, he always wants to go get a proper alignment done afterwards because different settings were changed. I did go on some test drives since I have lowered it in the car still feels great. I didn't feel any diminished ride quality or anything like that. You do see the noticeable difference every time you walk up to the car on how much lower it is. It's not slammed, and you can't really get it slammed, but it is definitely lower, it looks even better, and it's just one thing you can do that won't cost you anything and gives you an even fresher look for the car.

    Nicely done Jesse. Thanks for sharing! A couple of suggestions: loosen the lug nuts prior to jacking; use a jack stand as a safety before starting the lowering; mark the tube that the two spring seats revolve around so that you can easily tell if it rotates when you are using the spanners to rotate the seats.

    Only thing I’m truly envious of regarding Porsche GT3’s. The stock wheel gap and wheel offset is basically perfect from the factory. Wish the Z06 came the same way.

      @@jesse_iwuji Porsche GT3s are normally purchased by skilled and knowledgeable enthusiasts who do track days and can know how to watch out for dangers of driving a lowered sports car on the street. Most Corvette owners are not as knowlegeable, and fewer Corvettes ever see use on a race track, so the stock Z06 ride height needs to be set higher for the average Joe Corvette owner.

    The Adjustable Bottom Spring Perches for changing the car's ride height are more commonly known as Pre-Load Adjusters. The car does not need a new suspension alignment after marginally changing the Ride Height, as this change is no different than the suspension being compressed and moving when the car is driven. The stock Z06 comes with such a high ride height for adequate underside and front end clearance to cross speed bumps and driveway exit and entry ramps. This is why a Front End Raising Hydraulic System is offered as an option on the Z06 and comes standard on many exoric European sports cars which usually come set-up with lower ride heights. Before lowering your car's ride height to make it look "cooler" and handle better, make sure you will still have adequate underside clearance to drive it in and out of your driveway around your neighborhood without without damaging it. Also realise in this video, no considertion is being given to the added weight of 2 passengers (400lbs) sitting in the car, which will compress the springs and lower the car even further, and also make it more likely to bottom out and caause damage when crossing a speed bump or driveway entry at speed.

    Jesse, I’m assuming no front lift to be able to lower your Z06. Have you had any issues with driveways, etc. with the vehicle being lower? I had a C7 Stingray and a C7 Grand Sport, and I lowered both and never had any issues. I only have 2 individuals ahead of me at a dealership to get my C8 Z06 and debating if I need the front lift…or go without it and lower it so it’s more aggressive.

    • @jesse_iwuji
      @jesse_iwuji  Год назад +1

      Yes no front lift, no issues going into driveways, even at stock height I have not seen any reason to need nose lift on this car
