You know you can SANG when your nickname is The Voice!!
You are right Stan, there is noone like Steve Perry. He is nicknamed "The Voice" for a reason. So iconic. You can never mistake his voice! Great reaction video Stan.
Gotta agree with my Pop, Steve Perry..best voice in ROCK
Best voice EVER
I recommend Captured by the Moment also off the Street Talk album. Steve pays homage to influential people we have lost such as Martin Luther King, JFK, and music icons such as Sam Cooke, Janis Joplin, Jimmi Hendrix, etc. It is one of my favorite Steve Perry songs
YES!!!!! GREAT song, it's my favorite
Theres a behind the music that covers the breakup but it's a few reasons. It's a combination of resentments, health issues, touring fatigue and falling out of love with music.
I saw recently that Steve Perry agreed to sing with Dolly Parton. Truth or speculation ...? Truth, I hope - that would be an amazing duet! This song is part of the soundtrack of my younger years. When CDs first came out, my very first purchase was the Greatest Hits Journey CD. I still have it; CDs hold up longer than cassette tapes, but still, it's quite worn. Lol
Sherry was his long time g/f which is in the official video.
2018 album " Traces ".
This song hit #1. Something Journey couldn't even do. Open Arms hit #2 even though I think it should have been #1. Steve Perry had a great solo album. Well 2
Yes, I think "You Better Wait" is one of the best songs he ever did :)
@@abdeton1899 That's my favorite song by him on the the album. I also like Captured by the moment
@@Mary-cz8pf Yes, that's a great one, too. Have you seen Journey's live in Houston from 1981, "Mother, Father"? It is other-worldly great! I still also love "Open Arms'... such diversity with them :)
@@abdeton1899 I have it on DVD. I've watched several times Wish I could have gone to one of their concerts. Mother Father is a great song.
@@Mary-cz8pf Oh me too! We would have been overjoyed at one of their concerts, my friend. Steve has the best voice ever imo (although I fluctuate with him and Barry Gibb) and Neal is my favorite guitarist ever :)
The video for the song is amusing.
Love you, Stan. You are an amazing person, I can tell :)
Thank you so much

In Rock, it didn't get better than Steve Perry and Freddie Mercury! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the reasons Perry burned out is that Neal Schon was the band leader who recruited him and Neal had very high standards for vocals touring. I believe it was in a radio interview where he said Neal Schon wouldn't play songs in lower keys than the original recordings and this wore perry out singing top of register constantly. This was one of the factors of him quitting.
They've admitted to working him to hard. He should not perform when he's sick. He performed while having the flu. Doctors told him NO. Singing while your sick can damage and wear down vocal chords and energy.
Both Journey and Steve Perry have done OK apart, but there was something special about the Perry-Schon-Cain combination. Perry left Journey a couple times, but the final breakup was caused when Steve needed hip surgery. He kept putting it off, delaying a tour. Finally Schon started looking for other singers. Steve said fine, but don't call it Journey. Well, obviously, Schon kept the name and Steve went back home, permanently. There were lots of bad feelings involved.
They worked Steve to hard, pushing him to extremes. As soon as one tour was done a new album was recorded and then back on a tour. Back and forth without time to rest. Writing songs for the next album during tours. Steve was burnt out and knew he needed to leave and take a break. Good for him. He did solo work later on. Several albums, latest one 2021. He didn't want to leave because he didn't want to hurt the fans, but his heath came first.
The breakup is a long story, possibly with lots of factors going into it. Power struggles in the band, jealousy, burnout, personal tragedies, maybe a sense of being disrespected.
I believe he had a bad hip and couldn’t tour anymore.
