Great reaction. Thank you for sharing not just your thoughts about the song, but your life too. Music does that to me in the same way certain smells take you back to a memory. ❤
You are spot on about how Perry makes you feel, when he sings! Having seen Classic Journey in 1983, 1986 and for Perry's first solo tour. No matter where you sit, Perry has, a way of making you feel like you're the ONLY person/fan in that arena!!! When he points in your direction, you feel like he sees only you! When he searches for you in the crowd, and then points at you!! When he tells the light people ....... 'Hey turn the house lights on, I want to see my friends!!!' Next to Elvis Presley and Freddy Mercury, Steve Perry is the other Greatest Showman!!!
I was lucky enough to go to all of the Journey concerts in the 70s and 80s when they came to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Unmatched vocals, lyrics, instrumentals, and arrangements. Just mind blowing talent.
Journey is my favorite band. It's mostly because of Steve Perry. He can write great songs even though he didn't write this one. But he makes it his. He does put everything he has in his singing. He is very passionate and the voice control is crazy. He can hold those notes so long. Kenny Loggins said he's amazing. Steve can change his voice and sing anything and actually sound like another singer. There's a reason Jon bon Jovi gave him the name "The Voice" for a reason.
Journey is a great American rock band formed in 1973 & had their biggest commercial success between 78-87, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist. They had so many hits including "Who's Crying Now", "Still They Ride", "Wheel In The Sky", "Send Her My Love", "After The Fall", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", "Any Way You Want It" etc.
Stan, totally agree im listening to music since 1958 I believe Steve Perry is the greatest singer ever. Yes. there's many great singers but he is the cream of the crop. Journey is an iconic group this is an iconic song. Steve took a long hiatus from singing but thankfully returned a few yrs ago doing Christmas songs. Sure hope he does different genres also.
My all time favorite band!! And Steve Perry is the greatest singer to me!!
No one sings like a Steve Perry. The passion and emotion, when he’s things that he believes every word and when he thinks that you believe every word.
