    You chose a perfect piece of music for your video. Vivaldi's concerto is so evocative...I can feel the actual four seasons when I listen to it. Excellent, sir. Best wishes from Virginia. Cork Camden

    Wow! These are some very crisp, almost poetic images of the mangrove! Thanks for sheding some light onto this mighty predator that most local inhabitants thought was long gone from their surroundings. Funny that in such a high-tech, vibrant, 22nd century-like city like Singapore, people still cohabit with such ancient, dinosaurish creatures! Two things though: 1/ it's sad to see some trash floatting in almost each of the video scenes... 2/ the narrator should probably think about taking some vitamins... :-)

    • @TouchingTails
      @TouchingTails  3 года назад +2

      thank you! yea I had trouble wrapping my head around some of the things we experienced while filming this as well, some scenes made me forget that I was living in a bustling city just a few kilometers away. And thanks for the constructive notes! yea it was sad to see so much trash, but my hope is that with more awareness for the nature we share this island with, people would be more environmentally considerate with their actions. As for the VO, we have gotten a new mic! This project's VO was done remotely in not the most ideal situations! We have been busy with other projects but the upcoming videos will be better in that regard!

    Amazing documentary! Great shots of these beautiful creatures.
    I'm shocked that they're in Singapore, it's great that there is conservation and they're allowed to rebound.
    Do you know the current population estimates? And what's the largest one that currently resides in Singapore?

    • @TouchingTails
      @TouchingTails  2 года назад +4

      thank you so much! I was shocked upon learning about their presence as well.
      as for their population, there is not much published in terms of census data in recent years, so I'm not too sure myself. these crocs free-roam between Sungei Buloh and Johor, so its hard to get a proper estimate. I can tell you that during the weeks of filming, every other trip we made we saw at least one large adult and 1-2 juvis. it should be noted that as of 2008, the species was listed as "Critically Endangered" in the Singapore Red Data Book. If I get more info i'll be sure to update you!
      as for the largest, colloquially "Tailless" is known as one of the large conspicuous adults in the area, he/she is about 2-3 metres in length, (don't quote me on this tho!) the largest wild croc caught was 4.72m long. although personally I have seen individuals while filming this episode that were HUGE, much larger than Tailless. they would come in occasionally for short periods, spooking other crocs before leaving, rarely staying for more than 30 minutes @ high tide. Those looked like they could be around 3-4, or even 5 metres in length. (again, don't quote me! haha) hope that helps and sorry for the late reply!

Although there are always those few bad eggs. Hopefully with more awareness comes more responsibility.

    Maybe everyone was watching a different video than I was, but this video was very poorly done. The music and voice over seriously clashed. Music was way too loud and drowned out much of the commentary as the narrator's soft voice wasn't strong enough to overcome the volume of the music. Next time either ditch the music completely or if you have to have it, just lower it considerably.
    Also, did anyone notice the considerable amount of human made trash in the water by the crocodiles? Bottles, cans etc. Made for very disgusting viewing and the narrator never mentioned anything about it despite it being so obvious. I was waiting to her some confirmation that the garbage in the lagoon was unacceptable and if we are to keep this natural wonder around we have to work to preserve it, but nothing about that was said.

    • @TouchingTails
      @TouchingTails  2 года назад +1

      thank you for this comment, and I genuinely appreciate the constructive criticism. I'm sorry you felt that way and I hope to improve to make better videos in the future! I agree that the voice-over could have been better recorded and that the music does drown it out at times. We produced this episode with barely any budget and there were constraints when it came to recording of the VO, in fact we did it just on an iPhone remotely; now looking back I would have much preferred to have done it in a studio, and would do so in the future! I am working on that aspect.
      As for the trash, I agree that its a shame to look at while admiring these incredible animals, and I do wish that the natural environment at Sungei Buloh would be more respected. I also agree that we probably should have talked about it, being the elephant in the room, and in the future I'll definitely include a segment to address it. I hope that with videos like these, more awareness can be generated and as such, more respect and consciousness towards litter behavior could be provoked.
