this is the best video for this mod. Watched it twice and was able to do mine in less than an hour...thanks to the video knew what tools i needed beforehand. No problems, thanks!
I had a question I ordered this piece from another site and then from yours. Both came with the PCV inlet closed I would have to drill to make hole if I didn't want to reroute it.... does not come as advertised in the "unboxing" is this specifically for the LLY models? Both my #76-1006B models def did not look like this.
Can you send us pictures of that? It could have been a manufacturing miss. The inlet mouth piece for sure come with a inlet to keep the CCV system returning to the mouth piece. Here are a copy of the instructions: www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/assets/1/pdf/sb-76-1006b.pdf
my lly runs good on the interstate but when I turn the AC on and drive at 2k rpm for about 10 mins on the interstate in 95 degree weather it gets hot enough where the fan will turn on at 210 (the middle of the gauge). Do you think if I install this it will fix my problem? Checked for bad head gasket because upper radiator hose was not stiff the day after driving
The LBZ inlet is what this is based on, so your inlet performs the way S&B engineers designed the LLY upgrade to perform. S&B does not make a intake mouth piece upgrade for the LBZ trucks though.
Not sure if your still reading comments but I have a question about the turbo vane position sensor. Mine was gummed up and I cleaned it. It started making its normal tapping noise when the key is turned to the run position before starting. My question is can the sensor still tap but not send the correct information. I know there is a problem with turbo because I don’t have good off the line power. I’m pretty sure the vanes are not opening or closing all the way. Thanks
I did mine in less then an hour but I unplug my turbo forgot to plug it in went home to plug it in and it still won’t build boost any idea as to what it could be or what I need to do
idk, but from a selling standpoint S&B only works on S&B products to force you buy their cold intake. Not saying it's a bad choice but its what mostly companies do.
If I were to install the S&B mouthpiece and cold air kit on my 05' LLY, would I need to rescale the MAF for the increase in airflow over the stock system? Or would it not throw any codes and be good to go? Thanks!
Thoroughbred Diesel thanks for the reply, my first Duramax. Pity like the look of the resonator. Does not having the resonator make it run better? Not even sure what purpose the resonator serves, assume it’s for quietness or filtration? Cheers Steve
+John Henry No, this modification is not needed for the LMM. You actually do not want to cap off your PCV system completely. We suggest a reroute that keeps all of the PCV system in place but would clean up the system more.
I have installed an inlet from an LBZ . Still have overheat issues even though have made the recommended changes. Is this inlet supposed to be better than the LBZ inlet?
It is comparable in flow, we have never had an issue with the amount of air that is processed by that mouthpiece causing an overheat. I would look elsewhere for you overheat issue.
I have done the 2 radiators, stock and 1 between the framerail, I think they call it the v2. Didn't work. Look at the oil cooler and it's obvious what the problem is..
It says in the instructions to disconnect the negatives on the batteries. Is this necessary? Hate the way the truck runs after disconnecting the battery. Computer has to relearn everything.
thank you. I have this loud knocking noise coming from the driver side and it will increase sound or decrease depending on the rpms . started on friday now today it is super loud and can be heard from far away. Any ideas on what it could be my PCV Tube is cracked and wrapped with duck tape temporary If this could have been the cause of the noise.
imacenurface An audible knock is probably not going to be a cracked PCV valve. I would consider having that issue looked at by a professional, it could be an injector for example that will need to be addressed.
I've got a code on my 2005 lly p0016. crank and cam correlation. Have you any idea how to fix that? and is it going to damage anything if its not repaired right away?
Could be a number of things. Could be electrical or mechanical. I would suggest looking up the trouble tree for the code to give you a better scope of the problem. Give us a call if you need any assistance.
I think DIY vids are best when they use simple tools that the “everyday man” would have. If u got something to save time of course use it. Excellent video lots of help.

Thanks for the step by step Instructions, followed u all the way till the end. Awesome mod that made a big difference👌🏻
Great video, I just got a 05 lly and just ordered this inlet, looking to do the egr delete as well.
Always looking forward watching thoroughbreds channel.
Thanks!
Does the lmm need the larger ID in the elbow, please?
Give us a call.
Does the resonator stay off after the elbow install? If yes, why?
Thank you
It does and basically for fitment issues.
@@thoroughbreddiesel thanks fellas

Having trouble getting ccv tube on. The mouthpiece is resting on the egr valve. Is this piece only for deleted trucks
No, this fits full emissions intact trucks. Are you sure it is seated correctly?
What brand of hose clamp plier are you using? Where do you get it? I like that design with the eyelet. Thanks.
Awesome video perfect information
Glad it was helpful!
I just installed the S&B mouthpiece on my LLY along with the Werhli intake. Now I have zero boost any ideas what could be causing this problem?
MAF sensor not installed?
Why did you take off that thing off the tube? Want to install this in a week
If your referring to the resonator, we removed and plugged it to clean up the engine bay.

Will the s&b turbo inlet work with the hsp air intake ?
If the HSP air intake is for the LLY, yes.
Any Edge products that are available for sale in California will have a associated EO number.
will the resonator fit back on once the S&B elbow is installed?
I would like to know this as well.
No, the s&b eliminates the port for resonator, it cannot be re installed
Do they make one for a 2006 LBZ?
The LBZ inlet is what this is based on, so your inlet performs the way S&B engineers designed the LLY upgrade to perform. S&B does not make a intake mouth piece upgrade for the LBZ trucks though.
Will this improve my truck gas mileage on a 2005 GMC 2500hd duramax?
It will make the truck more efficient and correct an airflow issue from the stock tube.
Will it work on a Garrett turbo
Stock or Performax, yes.
Excellent video
Thank you very much!

2 questions for everyone
Will you need a tune after install this S&B and will it fit a stock intake box ??
Thank you
No tuning required and this inlet mouth piece is designed to work with the stock (or LLY configuration) air box.
This may be a dumb question, but what is the purpose of the resonator that he pulled off at the beginning of the video??
The resonator reduces turbo noise under the hood with the stock setup. I can't wait to do this to my LLy
Does the LMM already have this bigger tube?
I just switched to the Kodiak 5500 intake. It's the oil cooler that is the problem on lly's
The PVC reroute will prevent that
Will the stock intake tube fit the s&b intake piece
It’s crazy how y’all don’t offer this part for the LML yet.
Amazing video thank you
Our pleasure!
I have the same question as mattb115 will this work with banks intake?
It should work with any intake. So the Banks shouldn't be an issue.
do i need a s and b intake to use the elbow? or can i use my existing volant intake
+topo2407 Yes, this can be used with any intake system as long as the intake is for a LLY.
ok thank you
What’s the name or part # for those pliers?
I understand this is for the lly but would it work for the lbz as well? I like the fact that it deletes the resonator intake completely.
No, it will not work. It retains the stock LLY air intake configuration.
Turbo mouthpiece isnt a problem on LBZs. You want to delete the 6.6 resonator box you can. You can plug the hole or cap it.
Will the S&B work with a Banks ram air intake?
idk, but from a selling standpoint S&B only works on S&B products to force you buy their cold intake. Not saying it's a bad choice but its what mostly companies do.
I believe the inlet size is the same. I'm using a Spectre intake and it works fine.
Everything I read says yes. I ordered the combo today
What is this for?
If I were to install the S&B mouthpiece and cold air kit on my 05' LLY, would I need to rescale the MAF for the increase in airflow over the stock system? Or would it not throw any codes and be good to go? Thanks!
Steven Zarzecki It will not throw any codes. If the truck feels sluggish, log your MAF and possibly rescale to a LBZ MAF levels if you have EFI live.
Thoroughbred Diesel pt tractor puller
Just ordered one of these. Realised you didn’t have the resonator on. Does that mean with this mod I can’t use it anymore?
The CCV will be reused but the resonator will not be.
Thoroughbred Diesel thanks for the reply, my first Duramax. Pity like the look of the resonator. Does not having the resonator make it run better? Not even sure what purpose the resonator serves, assume it’s for quietness or filtration? Cheers Steve
Stephen King it’s to quiet the turbo and intake noise
What are EGTS
Is this recommended for the'08 LMM engine as well? Also, do you recommend capping off the PCV system while there?
+John Henry No, this modification is not needed for the LMM. You actually do not want to cap off your PCV system completely. We suggest a reroute that keeps all of the PCV system in place but would clean up the system more.

Anytime that you are unhooking electrical connections it is advised that you unhook the batteries. It is a small risk, but the risk is still there.

Does anyone know what the hose is that T's off at the inlet tube? It has like oil residue in it. Clamps onto the inlet tube
It is a PCV tube or Positive Crankcase Ventilation. It feeds into the turbo inlet.

Since this truck obviously has the egr delete on it , why didn’t you do a Ccv reroute .
The customer wanted to do his own CCV reroute.
