Hey guys. So there are 2 updates! RUclips disabled annotations so you can find my review of PDS here:ruclips.net/video/dwPZ5uZSw4o/видео.html Also, I now own an authentic copy of the game and you can find those files here: ruclips.net/video/YD6phD8vNvw/видео.html Thanks!
Hey man i have a question, right now in the pseudo saturn there is a new version Pseudo Saturn Kai 6.314 can i use that to play your patched disc version of Panzer Dragoon Saga or i need to use the 6.037 that appears in your video?
Gongo Experience I bought the red all in one cart that came with Kai Lite 6.314 - I’ve tried burning US and EU rips (including these), burning them with and without the Pseudo Saturn patch, and trying both CWX and JHL when loading up. I get to the opening cutscene, and then it crashes to an audio CD every time and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong lol!
You have made my Christmas sir. I have been searching for working files for this game since I was 14 years old. Throughout those 10 years I thought my searches were fruitless, as all the files I kept finding were all corrupt. However, today, on a whim I found your video. While i cannot play the files yet, as I have no working gaming PC or sega saturn. My husband and I are hoping to buy a PC soon. Until that time I can save the files to a drive and keep them in storage until the time comes when we can buy a PC and play the game. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas.
I remember stumbling upon Panzer Dragoon 1 on Gametap, which is now shut down, and falling in love with it. A few years after, I found a walkthrough on Panzer Dragoon Saga and since then, I've dreamt of playing it myself. My friend, you are a true hero amongst gamers and you're absolutely right in saying that this is a game, no a franchise, that should be known and loved around the world once again. I believe I speak for all retro gamers here when I say thank you, for giving this game another chance.
Glad to hear! I haven't tested this with any of the other flashes cause I didn't want to have to buy a new ARP cartridge if PDS was incompatible with them. Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to put that in the video description in case anyone wants to use that instead of PSKL.
Thanks for the awesome vid. There is another option, 100% free in case anyone wants to know... if you have a Mac, download OpenEmu and the PDS rom. Plays perfectly, not one hassle other than maybe 5 minutes to set up. All 4 discs run BEAUTIFULLY! It's crazy how great this worked, no joke.
I feel so honored to have owned this game and played the crap out of it. One of my favorite games of all time. I regrettably sold it to a friend of mine like 17 years ago for $150 (He’s a game collector).
Me at the start of watching this video: "Oh sweet, I'm so down for this" Me at around 10 minutes of watching: "You know what I'd rather just buy the fuckin' thing" haha
Dude up until this video, I learned how to install pseudo saturn on my own this past year. Copying street fighter zero iii I bought first, radiant silvergun , in the hunt, Albert odyssey, everything! I bought and have a near mint copy of panzer dragoon saga 1-4 . On forums I read it couldn't be done. But apparently you've proven that wrong. All the saturns I have ever owned that are working not blindly bought dudded ones ( had about 15 saturns within my lifetime or so) are model 2s weather NA or JP. I think ima try this out considering I got a good full copy. Not gunna lie tho. Playing my copies of radiant silvergun and street fighter zero iii everyday is just such a wonderful feeling on its own. Sega Saturn is one of the best consoles ever in my opinion. Thank you so much for this video! It makes a huge fucking deal! Pseudo saturn life
Seriously Thanks!!! Great vid, very clear and detailed instruction. I had all but given up hope of ever playing this game. Now it runs on my Saturn! (@ 12:30 If anyone was wondering I have a model 1 with the oval buttons and can confirm that the loader works so far).
Glad to hear everything worked out for you! Share this if you know anyone else who would be interested. Trying to spare as many people as possible from spending a fortune when they don't have to/
You're doing Segata Sanshiro's work here, son. Got a Pseudo Saturn cart on the way to me from Hong Kong as we speak, so I won't even have to mess with the disc swap trick, no risk of harming the disc drive motor or laser even a tiny bit.
I owned a Saturn with Panzeer Dragoon Saga and used a Game Shark in the slot to save games. I never had trouble playing and never had to remove the game shark.
So some stuff i found out, to help others. For the grey saturns, bios 1.00 does NOT support JHL loading however bios 1.01 DOES. You can see the bios version when you turn the system on via the animation at the bottom. Another way to tell is on the “SEGA” screen. If it says “UNDERLICENSE” it will NOT however if it says “UNDER LICENSE” (with a space) it should, also if you have issues loading past the intro animation and your system keeps resetting try opening your pseudo saturn cart and first using electric tape to prevent the components from shorting and then wrap the front of the pcb in a layer or two of aluminum foil to shield the laser from electronic interference. I have a video on my channel if you have any questions.
Thank you so much for this video, man. I actually managed to successfully emulate all 4 discs on SSF last summer and it easily ranks in my top 10 games all time. Of course, the process wasn't without hiccups (testing SSF version, repairing image files, using an emu exploit to get to the final boss fight) but for the most part the game ran fine. I may take all this information up for myself, however since I've always wanted a copy of my own and there's certainly a point of pride about doing one's own recreation. The more people play this game, the better.
Hi just thought I would let u know that I finished the whole game using files off the net and using ssf emulator. I did have problems with certain images and dummy drives but somehow I did it. It is the best game and an amazing experience. I really enjoyed your vid
i did, it needed some extra work but I did it. I'm on dis 2 now but I got into an infinite loop fighting the guardian dragon and don't know what to do.
I can't play this as I'm using a Japanese Saturn and I'm already using the original PseudoSaturn but thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this. Infinite kudos to you, kind sir!
Thanks for the video! I just purchased a cheap action replay card to try all this! Btw did you know that there is a SD card reader for the Saturn, its by the maker of the SDcard reader for Dreamcast.. just google GDemu. Its pretty neat, but its also very pricey.. I got one for my dreamcast, but I cant justify spending another $150!
Also, for everyone interested in emulating it: i testify that these images work perfectly! I just tested the game on the latest version of Yabause (0.9.15) and it works, at least on my pc (which i haven't upgraded for the last 4 years) PERFECTLY!!! I have only played for the first 4 hours, but seriously...i did very minimum tweaking in the options (just had to disable "higher quality sound" and put a frame limiter) and i haven't encountered a single glitch/artifact of any sort... Of course the results will vary enormously based on an infinite amount of factors...when it comes to emulation every single setting of every single piece of hardware/software on your PC can have an impact on it...so it isn't guaranteed that it will work on your pc.
Nice video! I bought a modchip in my case, and it works just as fine. PAL Model 2 Saturn, with 60hz mod. Might I add, as a recommendation: From my experience, Verbatim CD-R's recorded at 16x have been working wonders for me since the very first game I put in there. They are very cheap, and can be found almost anywhere ;)
Dude this video got me to play the final PD game that was missing loved 1 and zwei bought orta on chad box one and this was the only one missing thanks a lot bro 😎
Thanks for the video and links! The problem I am running into is after disk 1 I save and it says to insert disk 2. I insert the 2nd disk in and it goes to the CD player screen. When I just load the 2nd disk using Pseudo Saturn(.832, 2nd model Saturn) the game loads, but when I try to load the save it gives me an error saying change2.scb. Any ideas???
Were you presented with a save game option after beating Azel? From what I remember, the problem with my original image file of disc 1 is that right after beating Azel, rather than giving me the option to save and then switch disks, it would just crash and take me to the saturn dashboard. That was with the old corrupt disc image though. The new ones I made should be able to get through the whole game and I had another user confirm this for me so I know I'm not just crazy or lucky lol. That being said though, I don't remember if I was able to switch disks right at the change disks screen. I think I had to turn the saturn off and put disc 2 and reboot the saturn, pick the JHL loader and I was able to continue. I don't remember ever getting that error message. There could have been an error in burning disk 2. If you are able to, send me a photo of your error message and I'll see if there's anything I can do.
Thats odd.. Ive got all 4 discs as backups, and they all work. I was able to play through the game 100% a couple of times on a real saturn. It doesnt like the Action Replay cart, that is accurate. But I guess I got a good rip of PDS discs 1-4?
@@RantingSpidermanTV I have a US model 2. Maybe it's because mine has a mod chip I got like 10 years ago, and using rips I downloaded about the same time.
you are an awesome dude. for real. what you said at the end is right. you are doing the people a great serive. sega saturn games (american library) are expensive and very hard to find. people really need to see how great sega saturn was. the american side really dropped the ball on this console. you did what you did for unselfish reasons and i commend you for that
“Panzer Dragoon Saga” is the ONLY Saturn game I’ve had trouble emulating. (However, when I had a Saturn with a mod chip it seemed to play the burned discs no problem).
I liked and subbed just because of this video. Thank you so much, some of us cannot afford 600 dollar games even though I would totally pay that if I had it lol
Is there a way you can upload a link with Panzer Dragoon II Zwei game file? Or does someone know where to find a patched or compatible rom to burn on a CD??
thanks!!! now don't feel so bad for selling this game for $60 to a kid at gamestop after I finished it. The game was amazing and in some ways better then final fantasy 7 but the graphics sometimes where just as blocky as FF7 and it bugged me so I was wishing they would find a way to recreate the game in HD or an emulator that would up-rez and/or smooth out the polygons.
Nice video, yes its a lot of work but its truly a masterful game for the Saturn. Of course, I was fortunate to get a copy at the time (PAL region as well!), and, I didn't actually pay anything for it as it was a birthday present, and I'm only stating this to rub it in, but any way of playing PDS is a major thing given all those reasons you stated at the beginning of the video at how painful it is to play it in any form outside of a high rarity premium. In all honesty, had there ever been a design for a higher quality Dreamcast or even PS2/X box release, then yeah the original code would have been extremely helpful. In all honesty though, while it was obviously a big project, its quite a small game. It wouldn't be the end of the world to start from complete scratch, only a few games like FF XII has really benefited from forward thinking about HD rereleases.
You can do all of that --- Or be as stupid as me and pay 1000$ for the game. Seriously though, thank you so much for the tutorial! I hope that as many people as possible will find a way to play this amazing game!
You, sir, are amazing. What you're doing will surely help in preserving a piece of history: i'm downloading this immediately (even tho i don't own a saturn anymore) just for the sake of preservation since...who knows if this will be avaiable in the long-term.. Thank you!
I had one years ago...it started to malfunction so i gave it away to a guy that was willing to seek someone able to repair it. The only reason i didn't keep it was because, to be honest, it's still one of my least liked "main" consoles..just not many games i ever cared too much for. now i have an excuse to buy another one, and it shouldn't be too hard; even here in Italy you can find them for around 60-70 euro for the console alone (games are a whole other story...you have to sell your siblings to afford them)
That's actually exactly how I feel. The Saturn is well at the bottom of my favorite consoles and the estern library is nothing compared to the Japanese library. Not to mention, you really need a lot of things to get the full experience out of the Saturn (New battery, save cartridge, arcade stick). Lol yeah the games are fucking expensive. Owning one now is better than owning one back in the day since the Saturn scene is growing and people are coming up with new tricks, mods, and maintenance logs to keep the console at it's peak. I would totally suggest importing simple fighting games from japan since they are cheap and english friendly.
That's one of the problems...i mainly play Rpgs (from old Crpgs to modern Arpgs) therefore Sega as a whole rarely made something to my taste; and when i play platformers...i have already enough stuff on my "to play list" i play also Jrpgs , but i usually reserve them to portable gaming rather than consoles (i'd much rather play Chronotrigger/Suikoden for the 30th time on my phone rather than...anything from the appstore) and turnbased stuff works pretty well on touchscreen. Regarding the accessories yeah..the memory expansions i remember being definitely tricky to find, which is kind of a problem since it is a must for some games like King of fighters 95..which i've never played, but many people say even a noobish at fighters like me would like it. i was also curious about checking out the saturn versions of Symphony of the night & Tomb raider, but as far as "exclusives" go i have a pretty small list that i really want to play on saturn, mostly Nights into dreams,Psychic killer taromaru,,Shining force 3 & Virtua cop 2 That said, lately i focused more and more on my old PC gaming geekiness (i grew up with DOS/Windows games like Hexen, Baldur's gate,The Elder Scrolls daggerfall..) so i definitely need something different...maybe i'll get some games to go with the saturn then ; ) edit: now that i think about itf Nights into dreams isn't even an exclusive, but i think there's something about the saturn version that makes it different...at least i think, because everyone seems to praise it as "the definitive version"
since the action replay cartridges became pricy I rather buy an ode for the sega saturn, it was interesting a few years back and there are new ode options for sega saturn and even being able to keep the disc drive along with the ode. Of course for better experience the action replay also works as ram expansion and save data.
I actually had played disk 1 all the way through from another download I had found, hoping with your disk 2 I could pick right up. At the end of disk 1 it let me save and then said to insert disk 2, which is where I have been getting the save error. It might be that I have to start all over with your version of disk 1...all good though. Amazing game! So pissed off at myself cause I had bought that game for about $150 from someone back in 2002ish and I returned it cause it was supposed to be mint but had some scratches. Wish I could've not done that lol. I'll start from the beginning and let you know. Thanks again for the video and quick responses. From one gamer to another, much love!
You are having the same problem I first had. The original disk 1 file floating around on the internet is corrupt at the end. All you have to do is burn a disk with the disk 1 file in my package and rebeat Azel. You do NOT have to start the whole game over because the save data is on your battery/back up cartridge. Just burn a new disk 1 from the package, beat Azel, save and turn off your Saturn and put in the disk 2 that is also in the video description.
I'll try that. The problem is that I saved after I beat Azel which is why every time I put disc 1 back in it tells me to insert disk 2, which then gives me the error. I've burnt the new disk 1, loaded the file, then have the same error. I assume if I had saved prior to the boss fight I would be okay. Gonna have to start al over it seems. That's okay though. I'll let you know how it goes when I get to disk 2. Thanks again.
I guess maybe you could have a corrupt save file on disk 1. Yeah try again with my image files. Luckily PDS is only about 20 hours in total so catching back up won't be so hard. Plus you get to listen to that sweet opening level music again B) best of luck to you and let me know how it goes! Thanks for the kind words on the video! Glad I was able to help in some way!
Finally got around to playing again. Saved right before disk 2, booted up disk 2, and Shazam!!! Worked like a charm. Thanks again. You, my friend, are a lifesaver.
Awesome! Glad it worked out for you! feel free to report any other problems you may encounter. Want to compile a log in the description of all possible issues there may be. Thanks again!
Sega saturn games off coolroms DO work it's just you need to open up the ".cue" file of the game in notepad and change "(name of the bin file).iso" to .bin instead of .iso, though i've seen this error off a lot of sites.
Awesome video. I literally just started trying to get this to run on my Saturn yesterday, and had problems. I'm gonna try out your files tonight. Question though, I use ATLUS on my action replay (couldn't get pseudo Saturn to work). Will these work with it? Also, love your content so far. I plan on checking out more later.
Hi, thanks for the great tutorial! One question - Can you tell - from where you can buy that Sega CD/Saturn Jewel Case? Does exactly name for it or something? I can't find it anywhere. Cheers!
Those cases have never been recreated. Logically so as they are (in all honesty) pretty poorly designed and prone to breaking easily. There was a kickstarter a while back to try to start reproducing them but they found out the cases would be too expensive to produce. What I did was I went to a retro video game store in my state and bought some crappy sports game and essentially gutted and made a Panzer Dragoon Saga case. It cost me like 5-10 bucks for the game so I think it was worth it. That's what I would recommend. Just make sure the case you buy is in decent shape should you chose to go this route.
Hello, most honorable anonymous internet spider friend! I would like to tell you that the Panzer Dragoon Saga NTSC ROMs on emuparadise are corrupted and do not work fully on a real Saturn! Your provided ROMs, however, DO work! Thank you! No need to re-start the game, either!
Would just like to say thank you for this video and the download link. I started panzer dragoon saga again recently using burnt discs and pseudo cart (had the actual game a few years ago but stupidly sold it) Anyway got to end of disc 1 and saved and couldn't load disc 2. Tried a couple different downloads but kept saying "file not found change2 scb" When trying to load disc 2. Used your files and it loaded up first time.
It doesn't boot for me. it goes to the sega logo and then goes to black screen for a bit then back to main menu. ohh well. Got saturn ver 2 with pseudo with switch on latest version. using verbrum disks.
DOOD, THANKS FOR COVERING THIS GREAT GAME!!!! THIS GAME WILL BE RESURRECTED!!!! Oh, and how do the game images get corrupted? I play my ripped images and I'm on disk 3....hummmm
I'm pretty sure the original files online were ripped incorrectly. I hear IMGBurn is the best for ripping Saturn disc images. I wonder if getting perfect rips from the discs could make the copies work with the swap disc trick.
I'm a tad confused, you said not to ever remove the Psuedo Saturn cartridge, but to have another action replay cart on standby for saving data. How will I be able to save in PDS with a cart I can't save on? Should I just rely on the internal battery or is there another way for me to save it off my other un-modified action replay cart?
You have to turn the console off and possibly take the game out of the CD tray due to its anti-cheat feature.. Remove the modded cartridge and insert the second ARP cartridge and turn on the console. There is a feature to back up saves to this cartridge when the game is not in play. Honestly, it's easier to use the battery since they typically last a year and the game itself can be completed in 20 hours.
I had problems not booting. It would just go to the media menu. I adjusted the pot a bit,(turned it clockwise a bit and tested it each time as i don't have my meter with me.) boots fine thanks. Also fixed my panzar dragoon 2 not booting propally after intro, after the intro it also went to the media menu.. WOrks wonders now. Wonder how good those Etsy rips are. that site sells riped cd's with label and case for about 10 bucks.
A year later now that this video is out and me messing with multiple Saturn consoles and action replays ( with me also owning the original PDS complete ) I found an image of the game cus I’m afraid to put these disc into my computer for an ISO. . . I play the image that I find off emuparidse with a pseudo saturn flash cart version pseudo saturn Kai lite. It works! It works for me though from what I understand it comes down to your consoles connectivity to the ram slot is secure, no pins to far apart. Also the game does need patches to some degree. Make sure the ISOs if you can are patched before attempting to run the games on pseudo saturn Kai lite. I haven’t had any problems with the image I found and I just make sure I used a pseudo saturn cart that’s flashed onto an action replay. Cuz to my knowledge the extra 4m to 1m aids the carts performance. How do I know. Download a saturn homebrew game or a Super Nintendo emulator to the Saturn, which requires the extra ram to extend the functionality. And as far as the JHL flasher goes on the pseudo saturn... I can get it to work on a white japenese ss. Side note. Here’s another way to brick your pseudo saturn action replay Cart / Sega saturns consoles laser. I usually play ram required games with my pseudo saturn cart. Street fighter Zero 3 being my favorite. With that being said , a quick history... capcom games for extra ram are always 4m, SNK and rarely Sunsoft games are at 1m. When you use an action replay in general without it being flashed to play a real ram required game, the console is making a slightly harder effort with co siding with the ram to play the games. Usually, it will go to 4m first then down to 1m and bounce back and fourth if it’s NOT a capcom ram required game. Your suppose to play the snk/ sunsoft ram needed games with an actual 1m ram cart because the Saturn / games that call for that expect it to be a 1m ram cart and not a duo cart that can switch on the fly 4 and 1 m. With that being said the last time I bricked a pseudo saturn cart / killed a saturns lazer, was playing king of fighters 97 , metal slug, and astra super stars on my flashed pseudo saturn cart with a rather old model 2 saturn. If you listen to the game while it’s being used in an all in one flashed ram cart like the action replay while it’s playing an snk or sunsoft game... especially a game that still takes a long time to load in between fights like king of fighters... the system is trying really hard to load and read everything bouncing back and fourth from 1m to 4m where the cart really just wants to read at 4m to expect the highest volume of read instead of jumping up and down in aiding the game/ console. If your going to play snk sunsoft ram required games the right way without hurting your flashed ram cart or console, play the original discs if you could with a 1 m. Or be like me and just anticipate yol probably replace your console within a year to three years due to these consoles already being 23 years plus. These consoles are old. Retro, fragile, coming of age. Even the PlayStation ones and PlayStation 2s nowa days are showing their age with dieing lazers. I just want to let everybody know now that pseudo saturn has been around for a few years and me messing around with atleast 30 saturn consoles within that time period as well. The last thing you want to do is put stress on your Saturn or the flashed ram cart. I was devastated when king of fighters 97 killed my console and cart. I play street fighter zero 3 all the time with my flashed ram and no issues unless if the power supply is low or if somebody bumps into the console while the walk by causing the sprites to scramble. Leaving your Saturn on as well for any of these ram required games, weather capcom , snk , sunsoft for extended periods of time messes up your console and ram cart too. Spidy is right about that as well!
I tried to play Panzer Dragoon on my Sega Saturn with the same version of pseudo that you have and it didn't work, I burned the games iso you left on the description.
No. Those are duplicates made to look real but there is no guarantee they even have the games image file on the disks. You can find similar copies on etsy.
its worked on ssf for ages for me not sure what the guy in vid is on about in that regards tbh. That said i never have potato computers emulating saturn though
Do you have other completely scanned games that you would be willing to share? I like the idea of recreating the entire image of the games that I can't just pick up readily..BTW, thank you for putting so much work into this project!! My local staples wanted to charge me $24 just to print and staple the manual! I expected maybe $10 but damn...
It was quite the task but I'm glad it's helping people. I have yet to do this for any other games. The reason I chose PDS is because I really enjoy the and had to overcome several hurdles just to be able to play it. It seriously is one of the most difficult games to be able to play. No other games yet have peaked my interest as much. I am open to the idea though. This sort of thing is a double edge sword. While I would love to be able to offer cheap alternatives to people wanting to play rare games, I also don't want to create a repro market where people sell fake games at high prices on eBay. Going the extra mile for the manual was expensive cause I had to print it several times to get it right lol Definitely make sure you're printing to Black and White printer for the black and white parts of any manual. Saves a ton. If you have suggestions for other games you'd be interested in self reproing, let me know and I'll see if I can make it happen.
IT S A GREAT GAME ,,IT S ONE OF THE GAME I EVER PLAYED..ACTUALLY I AM PLAYING IT ON SSF EMULATOR ,USING ISO (E) FROM DOPEROMS,,BUT WAO,,IT S A LITTLE COMPLICATED CHECKING OUT IN OPTIONS ,BIOS , I HAVE TO FIND A MULTIREGION BIOS BECAUSE THE EUROPEAN ONE DIDNT WORK,, I GOT IT FROM A VIDEO IN RUclips,,,BUT ITS NICE...EVEN I THINK SEROUSLY TO BUY THE CONSOLE......ENJOY IT....
before watching this video, i flashed version 0.832 to my action replay, not kai lite. will that still work? if not, is it worth attempting to reflash to kai lite?
Really? Wow. So far you're the only one who has had an issue like that. But the swap trick works? Interesting because usually these files DON'T work with the swap trick. Definitely strange. Not sure if the swap trick method will let you save when it's time to change disks. Good luck to you!
Hey man, thanks for doing all this but I'm just wondering if you record yourself and speak through the mask, or if you record your voice and then video of yourself gesticulating and bobbing your head up and down. Let me know, I am losing sleep over this.
Thanks for the post...but I'm having an issue even with the files you mentioned. I can't get past Saga's memory cart detection. In your video, PDS loads right up and you don't get the memory cart protection warning at all. It's super strange. I'm using a Model 1 U.S. Saturn with Pseudo Saturn Kai 6.074. Anyone know how to get around this?
From what I remember, once the Psuedo Saturn is installed, the Saturn should boot straight to the cart and give you the screen that says JHL or CWX. Selecting JHL SHOULD start the game. What exactly does your warning say? What kind of Satrun cartridge are you using?
The warning says: "The System Memory (Cartridge Memory) is not ready for use. Please clear all files using your Memory Manager. Go to the System Settings Screen by pressing the Reset Button while holding the L or R Button. From there, you can access your Memory Manager." Screenshot here: imgur.com/a/AyzXc AFAIK, this is the error you get from PDS whenever you start it with a cartridge in the slot. So, the game is booting up with the JHL 0.832 loader, but it's not going past PDS' cartridge protection. I'm using an Action Replay Plus 4+1 flashed with Pseudo Saturn Kai Lite 6.074. I even just flashed it back to standard Pseudo Saturn 0.832 just to see if it's a problem with Kai, but still the same issue.
That's very strange. Try using a legit game and see what it does. There is a possibility you may need a new battery in the back of the game. It may be that the Saturn is trying to save data to the cartridge but can't and it has nothing to fall back on. You could also maybe try to burn a different copy of the first game and see what doing that does. I've never gotten this error before so let me know what happens and I'll see if I can help you!
Thanks man, I'll keep working at it, hopefully I can find a solution. The battery is new, so there's no problem saving to the internal memory with other games, so it must be something else.. I do own PDS (bought it at launch back in '98!), so I've even made bin/cue's of with my own disc, and then patched them with antime's cartridge protection patch found here: antime.kapsi.fi/sega/own.html But still no beuno. Argh!
Got it working, btw! The worst part is I have no idea how...the only thing I can thing of is that I switched to another game, saved to the internal memory, and maybe that reinitialized the memory somehow... But I ripped my own discs in IMGburn, used Pseudopatcher on each disc (you have to put the bin/cue in the same directory as the patcher, otherwise you'll get an "image not found error" from the patcher), and burned them. Each discs works like a charm with JHL Loader 0.832. Might post rips of my originals just in case anyone wants them. This game needs to be preserved, thanks for doing this Ranting Spidey!
@@RantingSpidermanTV i tried 3 different company cdrs. also tried burning it from my laptop my computer and Gf's computer. im at around 14 wasted burns. something will give soon only have about 10 blanks left. is it possible its somehow my lazer? i dont want to try a pot tweak if not needed. every other game works on system.
@@z0dthepally Oh wow. Shame you had to waste so many CD's. I hope you enjoy PDS. I did a review on it a while back and I stand by it. PDS is a great game!

Hey man i have a question, right now in the pseudo saturn there is a new version Pseudo Saturn Kai 6.314 can i use that to play your patched disc version of Panzer Dragoon Saga or i need to use the 6.037 that appears in your video?
@@retroarcadia9345 Same question - I've tried these rips and countless others, but game reads as an audio CD after the opening cutscene.
I patched my action replay with the pseudo saturn kai 6.314 and burn the saga images that are patched and run pretty smooth. I don't have any trouble.
Gongo Experience
I bought the red all in one cart that came with Kai Lite 6.314 - I’ve tried burning US and EU rips (including these), burning them with and without the Pseudo Saturn patch, and trying both CWX and JHL when loading up.
I get to the opening cutscene, and then it crashes to an audio CD every time and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong lol!
@@PhilDrangusUsed this isos, are the ones that im playing. drive.google.com/file/d/0B7NWUWIOtvP3ZDhkREliOU8yMDQ/view
Dude your a legend. I have the original game, but what your doing here is absolutely class. More people need to know about this game!!!
As well as giving gamers the chance to experience this title once again.
I've noticed you havn't mentioned panzer dragoon zwei (2nd game) there.....
nvm, it works! thanks for patching these files and organizing them so well in a single download, much appreciated...
Glad to hear! I haven't tested this with any of the other flashes cause I didn't want to have to buy a new ARP cartridge if PDS was incompatible with them. Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to put that in the video description in case anyone wants to use that instead of PSKL.
This is one of the most beautiful things I've seen. I'm gonna try this out as soon as I can. Thank you so much and greetings from Chile!
Excellent how-to video! I own the actual discs for PD Saga, but I've been looking all over the place for the correct longbox scans.
dude... it's been so long since I saw this video and was introduced to your content. man feels like ages...
I feel so honored to have owned this game and played the crap out of it. One of my favorite games of all time. I regrettably sold it to a friend of mine like 17 years ago for $150 (He’s a game collector).
You my friend.... have helped me check off an item on my bucket list. I salute you.
Me at the start of watching this video: "Oh sweet, I'm so down for this"
Me at around 10 minutes of watching: "You know what I'd rather just buy the fuckin' thing"
haha
Very nice! I was lucky enough to find a modded Saturn years ago for $40 so i was able to enjoy this game for cheap before this method came out
I have own the game for years and believe me it's one the best of all time great video man
Dude up until this video, I learned how to install pseudo saturn on my own this past year. Pseudo saturn life
You just made the world a better place to live in.
Now using your patched disc images! They work great, thank you for the work you put in!
I'm surprised at just how well made this video is. Absolutely deserves more views and attention. Good job
SSF emulates PDS perfectly, just finished it over the weekend. 10/10 great game.
PC emulator?
Damn, I need to get SSF to work, but no software can creat a virtual drive in my pc for some reason
you tried deamon tools lite
i did, it needed some extra work but I did it. I'm on dis 2 now but I got into an infinite loop fighting the guardian dragon and don't know what to do.
Wow man this vid needs way more views this is badass!!! Im going to download and burn when I get a new saturn
I can't play this as I'm using a Japanese Saturn and I'm already using the original PseudoSaturn but thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this. Infinite kudos to you, kind sir!
As long as you're playing this wonderful game, it's all good! Thanks for the kind words!
Wait so how do you save Panzer Dragoon Saga if you have no battery. I was planning to load up with my pseudo Saturn then put in another memory card?
Boot the game using the disc swap trick while there is a memory cartridge inserted.
Thanks Spiderman
Also, for everyone interested in emulating it: i testify that these images work perfectly!
I just tested the game on the latest version of Yabause (0.9.15) and it works, at least on my pc (which i haven't upgraded for the last 4 years) PERFECTLY!!!
I have only played for the first 4 hours, but seriously...i did very minimum tweaking in the options (just had to disable "higher quality sound" and put a frame limiter) and i haven't encountered a single glitch/artifact of any sort...
Of course the results will vary enormously based on an infinite amount of factors...when it comes to emulation every single setting of every single piece of hardware/software on your PC can have an impact on it...so it isn't guaranteed that it will work on your pc.
as far as I know problems in emulation only occur past disc 1 so let me know how that works for you once you get to that point
Dude this video got me to play the final PD game that was missing
loved 1 and zwei bought orta on chad box one and this was the only one missing
thanks a lot bro 😎
This explains why my emulated versions of “Panzer Dragoon Saga” never worked past the 1st Disc…
this is some wizard shit
Thanks for everything man, I figured it out.. turned out I had to reburn the second cd again.. guess my burner is finicky >.
Thank you so much for this man thank you I thought I never be able to play this game again oh and you channels is great
Thats odd.. Ive got all 4 discs as backups, and they all work. I was able to play through the game 100% a couple of times on a real saturn. It doesnt like the Action Replay cart, that is accurate. But I guess I got a good rip of PDS discs 1-4?
That is odd. I've used the cleanest rips with the swap disc trick and got nothing lol what kind of Saturn do you have?
@@RantingSpidermanTV I have a US model 2. Maybe it's because mine has a mod chip I got like 10 years ago, and using rips I downloaded about the same time.
@@IndecksTTV It's totally the mod chip. It probably doesn't like the Action Replay cart because it introduces another form of foreign coding.
Man you are the awesome! Thanks so much for this it means too much to me. Had a broment. Legend.
you are an awesome dude. for real. what you said at the end is right. you are doing the people a great serive. sega saturn games (american library) are expensive and very hard to find. people really need to see how great sega saturn was. the american side really dropped the ball on this console. you did what you did for unselfish reasons and i commend you for that
Thank you! This is the only video I've ever asked people to share because I genuinely want people to play the game without going broke.
You the real MVP
“Panzer Dragoon Saga” is the ONLY Saturn game I’ve had trouble emulating. (However, when I had a Saturn with a mod chip it seemed to play the burned discs no problem).
I liked and subbed just because of this video. Thank you so much, some of us cannot afford 600 dollar games even though I would totally pay that if I had it lol
Is there a way you can upload a link with Panzer Dragoon II Zwei game file? Or does someone know where to find a patched or compatible rom to burn on a CD??
I believe Zwei is online but it has the same problem that Saga does. You HAVE to use the JHL loader.
thanks!!! now don't feel so bad for selling this game for $60 to a kid at gamestop after I finished it. The game was amazing and in some ways better then final fantasy 7 but the graphics sometimes where just as blocky as FF7 and it bugged me so I was wishing they would find a way to recreate the game in HD or an emulator that would up-rez and/or smooth out the polygons.
Just wanna say thanks!! Works great with all the saturn's Ihave tried... Thank you!
You're a true hero.
You are a great guy, Subbed !!!
You absolute legend mate!
You can do all of that
--- Or be as stupid as me and pay 1000$ for the game.
Thank you!
Great idea! Thank you for the kind words. I recommend getting a Saturn for this game. It's worth it.
That's one of the problems...i mainly play Rpgs (from old Crpgs to modern Arpgs) therefore Sega as a whole rarely made something to my taste; and when i play platformers...i have already enough stuff on my "to play list"
i play also Jrpgs , but i usually reserve them to portable gaming rather than consoles (i'd much rather play Chronotrigger/Suikoden for the 30th time on my phone rather than...anything from the appstore) and turnbased stuff works pretty well on touchscreen.
Regarding the accessories yeah..the memory expansions i remember being definitely tricky to find, which is kind of a problem since it is a must for some games like King of fighters 95..which i've never played, but many people say even a noobish at fighters like me would like it.
i was also curious about checking out the saturn versions of Symphony of the night & Tomb raider, but as far as "exclusives" go i have a pretty small list that i really want to play on saturn, mostly Nights into dreams,Psychic killer taromaru,,Shining force 3 & Virtua cop 2
That said, lately i focused more and more on my old PC gaming geekiness (i grew up with DOS/Windows games like Hexen, Baldur's gate,The Elder Scrolls daggerfall..) so i definitely need something different...maybe i'll get some games to go with the saturn then ; )
edit: now that i think about itf Nights into dreams isn't even an exclusive, but i think there's something about the saturn version that makes it different...at least i think, because everyone seems to praise it as "the definitive version"
It doesn't work for me, I'm using the same firmware on psk lite and jhl but the game crashes after the first cutscene
since the action replay cartridges became pricy I rather buy an ode for the sega saturn, it was interesting a few years back and there are new ode options for sega saturn and even being able to keep the disc drive along with the ode. Of course for better experience the action replay also works as ram expansion and save data.
This is awesome what you did and all but since I don’t have access to a CD burner I’ll probably end up buying a repro and a pseudo Saturn cart
You're a saint. It works on my Saturn so far.
You just got yourself a subscriber!
So... that Mednafen emulator I downloaded and made work wont allow Panzer Dragoon Saga to play past disc 1?
If you don't feel confident about burning Pseudo Saturn to your own Action Replay cartridge you can find them on eBay for not too expensive a price.
I just bought a reproduction copy off etsy.com for 60 dollars us version plus im getting an action replay plus for my Saturn hopefully it will work
Msuits5 it's risky cause like I said, many of the ISO files online are corrupt. Best of luck to you!
Spiderman is real! Thank God 🙏 for you!
How hard is it to even replace a longbox case? as I haven't seen a single video on the internet that shows how.
Hi, do you know the exact dimensions of the covers, and how to print them to the exact dimensions on A4 paper?
Thank you.
You rock, man. Thanks for your video!
luckily the rhea and phoebe exist and they're playable through that
could you make a tutorial on how to play the game through phoebe? I have the model 2.
i just made a quick video of the thing, which includes how to put the games into the ODE... so it should at the least help
A repro I bought. I want to do Ghosts and Goblins and the english translation of Castlevania.
Your work is really appreciated. Thank you so much for this :)
Would just like to say thank you for this video and the download link. I started panzer dragoon saga again recently using burnt discs and pseudo cart (had the actual game a few years ago but stupidly sold it)
Anyway got to end of disc 1 and saved and couldn't load disc 2. Tried a couple different downloads but kept saying "file not found change2 scb"
When trying to load disc 2.
Not sure, but I'm still playing it, so something's not right....
I just bought a japanese copy and if i need any help with the japanese subtitles I'll just youtube some gameplay to see what needs to be done.
When I burn pseudo saturn with imgburn, which speed should I burn? 2x, 4x?
Use the slowest speed possible.
@@RantingSpidermanTV so I guess will go with 2x then! Thanks Spidey for your response, and being such a friendly neighbor!!
Will this work with the Satiator?
Man that is amazing! I just do not know how to change disc after the first CD finishes and asks for the second CD. It does not load.
I tried to play Panzer Dragoon on my Sega Saturn with the same version of pseudo that you have and it didn't work, I burned the games iso you left on the description.
same
sweet, you can also play this with swap trick without action replay. thanks
dude I bought a us reproduction of this game for 60$ of etsy.com plus im getting an action replay plus too hopefully it works.
You can find 30 or 40 pound copies on Amazon UK... are those trustable
No. Those are duplicates made to look real but there is no guarantee they even have the games image file on the disks. You can find similar copies on etsy.
So... is it really not emulatable at all? Not even with Mednafen?
its worked on ssf for ages for me not sure what the guy in vid is on about in that regards tbh. That said i never have potato computers emulating saturn though
A USA Saturn model 1 in case my first comment wasn't clear.
So he's not just your friendly neighborhood Spiderman?
Can you play this game with a modchipped Saturn? (instead of using Psuedo Kai or is it a must?)
Martin Forslund wouldn't know first hand but I assume a mod chip would also work.
Ok I know this video is old but sega saturn emulation us excellent now I played panzer dragoon saga on emulation start to end with no problems
before watching this video, i flashed version 0.832 to my action replay, not kai lite. will that still work? if not, is it worth attempting to reflash to kai lite?
I have version 0.832 and it plays fine. :)
tried your disk 1 on 3 different saturns crashes every time. saturn 1 and 2 and japanese version dont work. swap trick works perfect vs psuedo saturn.
Really?
Yes.
I own this game!
No joke
Still have my copy bought day one.
Thank you brother....great video
Thanks Jesus!
I tried on my AR that's flashed to 0.831...screen goes black after initial FMV. Not sure if it's the burn or that flash?
Lee Kime 0.831 don't work on this game...
Thanks. I ordered another cart to install Kai Lite on
Let me know how that works out for you! Always eager for feedback so I have more information to give out in the video description.
I bought another cart and flashed it with Kai Lite. Game works great now so far. Thanks for putting the package together!
Awesome! Glad to help!!
The warning says:
"The System Memory (Cartridge Memory) is not ready for use. Please clear all files using your Memory Manager.
Go to the System Settings Screen by pressing the Reset Button while holding the L or R Button. From there, you can access your Memory Manager."

AFAIK, this is the error you get from PDS whenever you start it with a cartridge in the slot.
I do own PDS (bought it at launch back in '98!), so I've even made bin/cue's of with my own disc, and then patched them with antime's cartridge protection patch found here: antime.kapsi.fi/sega/own.html
But still no beuno.
This game needs to be preserved, thanks for doing this Ranting Spidey!
i get a black screen after Team Andromeda screen for about a min then kicks to Media player. any ideas?
I think this happened to me. It could be a poorly burned disc. Make a new copy and try again. Make sure you are using the JHL loader
@@RantingSpidermanTV i tried 3 different company cdrs. also tried burning it from my laptop my computer and Gf's computer. im at around 14 wasted burns. something will give soon only have about 10 blanks left.
is it possible its somehow my lazer? i dont want to try a pot tweak if not needed. every other game works on system.
and it was the laser did a slight pot tweak and bam first shot. ty mr lifesaver
@@z0dthepally Oh wow. Shame you had to waste so many CD's. I hope you enjoy PDS. I did a review on it a while back and I stand by it. PDS is a great game!
