Wow, looks great. My goal is to get some Cherry Shrimp in the future. I have the Fluval Chi 5 Gallon with some White Clouds. I'm new to the hobby and just starting out. I am purchasing live plants as I can afford and have a Java Fern, Crypto and lots of Duck weed.
Actually it seems like White Cloud Mountain minnows are becoming sort of trendy? An old-school stalwart that's coming back into fashion... And it seems to be quite deserved. I mean, I'm now considering getting myself a group of them, though I hadn't heard of them before I began researching stocking options for my new aquarium. I don't care if they're fashionable, but I do care a lot about them having a great reputation and being very, very pretty.
I have a 10 gal with Java moss and adding 6 golden white clouds. I was looking to see if they work together and saw your post. It was just confirmation that's what I needed to do.
My first tank I've had for over a year now, a 10 gallon with 5 white clouds, a snail, and a cherry shrimp, heavily planted with staurogyne repens, anubia, and java fern. I'm super happy with it, the white clouds are awesome fish. I hope to breed them somehow because for some reason I never see fry though they constabtly display spawning behavior.
I have just set up a small tank specifically for cherry shrimp and decided the other day that white cloud mountain minnows are probably the best tank partner for them, as well as a few snails - so this was really cool to see! Yours seem to absolutely thrive! I love the landscape you have created for them as well!
The minnows were way too active for the shrimp in the size of tank I had, so I had to return the minnows to the aquatics shop. I’m sure with a bigger tank though, it might work - but I feel the shrimp would prefer calmer fish. I hope this helps!
I have cherry shrimp and yesterday put danio fry in to grow them up. I'll place minnows fry in too if I have success with the eggs. Your tank looks stunning. Nothing nicer than lots of green that makes the red cherries pop
Super informative and useful. spot on advice and information that's definitely real, not just made up theories. I've got a 5g cherry shrimp tank with a sponge filter but no heater and it does get cold in the room. That's going great, but for 2 months no shrimplets yet. I'd like to get the minnows into a 29g and breed those and breed some cherry shrimp with a little beat of heating to help along. I don't know how it's going to go, but it looks like a solid choice for me to move into.

I've had White clouds before, but I'm in the process of getting long finned ones from a RUclipsr named "WhiteCloud Dynasty". He's an awesome guy with a passion for white clouds. I'm so excited because for the longest I couldn't find anyone who were selling them 😁👍🏻
three years later still havent kept white clouds but am still highly considering it. Came back to this video to weight my thoughts again thanks for the information.
I’ve got a 10 gal with 15 white clouds. They will be moving to my 60 gal when it gets cycled. Right now I’m thinking it’s going to be a Danio Tank with my clouds and 10 giant danios and maybe some other danios. Have been thinking about adding some cherry shrimp or some Pygmy Corydoras maybe both.
Hey now! I have a tank with white clouds, and neocaridina shrimp. It’s a 10 gallon that’s heavily planted. I keep jungle Val as my background plant of choice. I also have 4 Amano’s and 2 nerites in the tank
Great vid.. thnx. I got 6 white clouds, 8 cherrys in fluval edge 12. Fluval stratum substrate... shrimp were pregnant with eggs... now they arent pregnant anymore but. i dont see baby shrimp
I do bacter every three days and I have lots of film for my shrimp and snail babies. 50gal 2 sponge filters a few plants mostly moss and duckweed for upside down shrimps and pond snails feeding
I have a 5.5 gallon tank with 6 white cloud minnows and am thinking of adding cherry shrimp. I have artificial plants in tank and is unheated Also lowest temperature I have seen in tank is about 57 Fahrenheit but its normally about 64 Fahrenheit. Would this be fine for cherry shrimp to survive
So, minnows won't harass the shrimp? I heard somewhere that they won't work with the cherry shrimp. It looks as though your tank is thriving, and your doing great. So, it's okay to have them together? I'm planning not on doing ANY breeding. Also, what temperature is your tank at average? Thanks for the video!
I haven't had any fry from this tank, but I have my pond of them I breed so that hasn't been a concern for me. I don't feed any sort of fry food either.
I have a 10 gallon that is decorated with driftwood, volcanic rock. and a castle ornament. I have 8 baby rednose minnows that are barely 1 inch long. I only have red and white gravel and recently planted this plant that grows in gravel. I want to ass cherry shrimp but I'm feeling that I shouldnt. Thoughts? I was hoping to have a stable shrimp colony that reproduces while being eaten by the minnows once the minnows grow bigger.
Hey,I’m Michael, love your tank set up.Ever hear of Green Aqua? They are out of Budhepest, and sell there products at Aquarium Design Group in Tx.I’m setting up a $0 Gal Stock Tub,and want to do White Cloud, but every place is out of them,.
Love the videos. Can you please tell me which lights you are using for the tank. I’m looking for a light for my 10 gal too but beamswork has different types of lights. Looking for a decent light for plants
This is the light that I have on the 10 gallon, but it grows hair algae a lot. amzn.to/36Nhpmu This is the Beamswork light I like and have on a few other tanks. amzn.to/2M3DULJ
Ive started a tank with some cherry shrimps and 2 white cloud. One of my shrimp is pregnant , and i was wondering if the fish will eat the baby /eggs eventually ?
I keep Golden White Clouds but every time I have released shrimp into the 29 gallon tank with the fish they dissappear. I'm assuming that they are being eaten.
For the talking head, its a Canon M3 with a Sigma 18-35 1.8 at 35mm. For close up and broll, its either my Sony A6500, Canon M3, or Canon 6D with a 100mm 2.8 macro or wide shots usually my 17-40 f4. For sand grit, the most coarse one they offer, i forget which numbers
Awesome video! I've seen conflicting info online regarding compatibility between WCMMs and cherry shrimp. This video definitely put me at ease! I have a 10gal tank with five white clouds. I want to up the count. To maybe 8 WCs total, but I also want to add cherry shrimp. Based on 8 total WCs, how many cherry shrimp would you recommend to start? Also, what temperature do you keep your tank at? I keep mine around 68-70 and it seems the cherry shrimp can tolerate that, as well. I've got lava rock in my tank and have begun adding Marimo balls. Would java moss/anubias work as well? Thanks again for the super informative vid!
Where can i find a reputable bay area cherry shrimp dealer? So hard to find a consistent affordable supplier these days. Your tank looks cherry by the way😅

Are there any shrimp that will survive in an outdoor pond that freezes over?

How do you know if any shrimp die and start to decay ? Like in the rocks or some where hidden and is feeding difficult ?
They do occasionally, especially from age. The rest of the shrimp take care of them. It doesn't throw the parameters off.
Feeding is very easy. I drop in algae wafers/shrimp food daily.
