- Today, we'll focus on the low light performance of the Insta360 ONE X2, and compare it with all the other 360 cameras - including Insta360 One R, GoPro MAX, Qoocam 8K, and Ricoh Theta Z1 for 360 photo comparison.
To educate you about the challenges in low light VR filmmaking, we will explore moving 360 and Flowstate stabilization. Why does the low shutter speed create a blurry low light footage? We'll discuss how to use vibration dampening to avoid this problem. We will show you the results from professional VR cameras like the Insta360 Titan, Qoocam 8K Enterprise, and Teche 360Anywhere. Hi Hugh, I have a question on post sharpening. In your Neat Video denoise tutorial, you mentioned not to sharpen with the plugin as you would see a visible seam and recommended using the VR sharpen premiere filter after denoising. However, I noticed in Davinci Resolve you denoise and sharpen in one go. Does this give better results than using Premiere and Neat Video? Thanks!

Is it better to shoot in log in low light. I have the Insta360 EVO. And if I shoot in log can I just import into Davinci Resolve do the colour grading and export (either a final VR180 version or s version I can import into Premiere Pro) or are there some special settings needed to preserve all the VR info?
Good afternoon! There is a question. 360 videos have too narrow a viewing angle (FOV) by default. Using +/- on the additional keyboard, you can change the angle of view to a larger or smaller one. Question: how do I post a video on RUclips so that there is a set, desired angle of view, and not the one that RUclips puts by default?

Hey Hugh, another awesome learning experience. Thanks so much. Just one question about shutter speed and image blur when shooting photos from a moving car in daylight. Are there any general guidelines for shutter speed, i.e. shutterspeed x for car speed y? What about when walking? Many thanks again.
For photo? I don't have a calculation for it. But if you want less motion blur - use higher shutter speed - take test shot to see which one work best :)

Hi SuperHugh, I have a question. I need to shoot with insta360 EVO (360mode) in a quasi dark environment, very very low light...(eg. candles) I made some tests. ISO 200, 400, 800, I saw literally nothing. I have tested the HDR mode and this is the mode which enables me to see the most. Using 1/60 shutter speed. A lot of noise though. I use your NeatVideo and use your tutorials.
Insta360 EVO is not the best for low light but I wanted to know which setting would you go for if you were stock with a insta360 EVO (HDR, non HDR, ISO ?) to film super super low light with still to be able to get the most out of it ?
EVO like One X - so go ISO 800, film HDR or regular with LOG, and then to remove noise in Neat Video.
Hi hugh, I love your videos and I find them very helpful, thanks for the hard work!, I have a couple of questions, I have been thinking about purchasing the theta Z1, mainly to do some virtual really tours for real estate, but I'm also interested in virtual reality video and streaming, and I have noticed you usually don't compare the Z1 with other cameras In streaming or video situations, so, is the video in the Z1 that bad? do you think the One X2 could do a professional work for real estate or I should consider getting 2 cams?
You should consider getting both camera for professional works. Z1 is a photo camera not video camera. Livestream is okay with Z1 but Qoocam 8K is a lot better in livestream and video work. ONE X2 as well on video. Testing the livestream in the next tutorial so I won't comment on the livestream yet until in-depth testing

Do you prefer using the Vivid mode on the One X2 or standard like the One R has?
Is the Vivid mod doing some tone mapping boosting shadows? I wonder how it affects low light.
I don't think Vivid mode is boosting the shadow - it is crushing the shadow instead. I think Vivid mode is like GoPro color - in well light day light it is amazing - but in challenge environment - I will just go with LOG and deal with that in POST.
@@hughhou interesting so despite named the same it must be different from the Vidid color profile on the Insta360 One R for the 4K mod, which boosts shadows significantly, not with curves but with something like a local time mapper (sometimes too much, bringing out a lot of noise)

Premiere with Neat Video is the best solution right now for 360 video. But if you don't have Premiere - then Resolve paid license will work. Just only need one not both.

That depend. For 360 video - I still shoot mostly with Qoocam 8K just b/c better sharpness and higher resolution.

If most of the shooting will be on a light day, which camera is better for the picture Insta360 ONE X2 or Qoocam 8K ? I recently sent my camera a Qoocam 8K to the manufacturer for the second time due to battery problems. And now I think, can I buy an ONE X2 camera? But 8 k resolution in the Qoocam 8K, gives me reason to doubt the advisability of buying an insta. I would like to hear your opinion. Maybe you were comparing 5.7k resolution from ONE X2camera and downscale from Qoocam 8K camera?
Even down scale - which it is for my 360 demo video here: ruclips.net/video/nf-xOUcyAfo/видео.html - Qoocam 8K still retain more details than ONE X2 - so it is really up to you. If you are used to 8K resolution and details - you won't happen to go down to 5.7K. It is easier to shoot, cut and process, and even look sharpener - but the resolution drop and lose in details are something you need to deal with.

Btw i also bought the titan gpu. I have a beefy computer now with i9 9900 processor and 64 gb of RAM. Its awsome! Love it for video editing 😍 last year i havent edited much 360-videos because with a regular gpu its a nightmare. This saves me a lot of time.

man, I took this Insta360 One R to the Seattle Space Needle, late night, and was incredibly disappointed after following other tutorials vs this vid. I knew the cam couldn't handle it if there is lack of light.

So far I gafferd two aputure amaran AL-M9 very tiny LED Lights with a diffuser Gel opposite each other on to my selfie stick - worked fine and I guess the nadir was not that big als the halo light will be - but the halo light with it´s 360 approach will work even better. I want to up my game here - and so I ask you for your honest thoughts. I consider the Qoocam 8k or even the enterprise version - but as far as I see the examples and see the reviews and videos the Qoocam it seems that they just can not provide the quality you would normaly expect with the 8k resolution. The reason why I want to continue to use a 2 sided lens camera is the far less stitching issue with near objects because it´s only one stitchline. The figures of the QooCam puts it on par with the Insta Pro 2 - in terms of resolution - which seems to be great - but all in all the firmware and the postproduction seems not to deliver the quality. So what´s your suggestion? Is the insta One X2 just the better cam than the QooCam 8k or QooCam 8K enterprise? What are your experiences and opinion in this topic?
so sorry, my demo is in German - but really a nice tour through the archive of the tyrolean museum with their stuffed animals - check out the snake - with a VR Headset its really great - and to be honest - the resolution for the oculus Go is enough.
Nice demo! Qoocam 8K or Enterprise still the best 2 lens 8K camera out there. It is not as good as Insta360 Pro 2 or Teche 360 Anywhere - but you pay what you get. I think it is a great upgrade if you are releasing content on the new Quest 2 - as Quest 2 can saturate higher in 8K resolution - that is where it shine.

You spoke around 4 minutes and 30 seconds from the begging and still no information about low light review of X2. You need to go straight to the point, not speaking a lot and make the video so long that nobody wants to watch
