So, a rifle belonging to a friend was recently burned in a house fire. It was set up pretty much like the original colt models save the holographic. The Handguard and the Pistol Grip are melted almost beyond recognition, although still there in its new remolded blob shape. The magazine is still inside the rifle but only drips of hardened plastic remain on the exterior. The rifle is rusty, much more rusty than one would think after only a week in the rubble. The bolt is registered , the charging handle won't budge, Trigger wont budge. Forward assist seems fine, magazine eject seems fine. So, the question, Would you even consider the possibility of any recovery of parts? Specifically , the barrel, the trigger group, the firing pin and the bolt carrier group. , I can send pictures upon request. Thank you for the consideration.
Hey I set up & commission CNC machining centers, if the magazine guage is hard to find can you do a video where you mic the guage dimensions, or if you can use AutoCAD generate a .dwg file with the dimensions & I can probably get 100ish of those guage blocks run off, probably can't get a surface grind finish like yours without actually paying for it but I can probably get enough machine time doing standard validation testing to cut 100 or so magazine guages out of 4140, if you cover bar stock cost you could sell the other guages on your page. There's no reason this guage should be unobtanium once we write a g-code program to cut them, milling marks on surface finish is honestly not important when gauging a sheet-metal clearance, even the highest tolerance sheet-metal magazines are probably .001" variance a microprecision

Is there a safe and reasonable way to demagnetize a bolt carrier and it's components without buying an expensive degausser/demagnetizing device? There are No legit gunsmiths in my area. No machine shops either.
can't wait till the buffer tube jig is available
Can u do a physical of a LWRC DI bolt ? I subbed to your channel. I've learned so much . Need me some tools now hahaha
Can I ask what brand, or where, those gauges are from?
I wonder how many gauges would be owned if Chad went the AK route.
I doubt I'll ever drop the coin for a KAC, but good to know about the different reaction rod. The multi use design is clever.
So, the question,
Would you even consider the possibility of any recovery of parts? Specifically , the barrel, the trigger group, the firing pin and the bolt carrier group. , I can send pictures upon request. Thank you for the consideration.
I'm curious how the bolt is registered
@@firearmsfuelfabrication Meaning it was in the forward position. I'm not that familiar with the lingo if that was grossly misrepresented.
anyway, IT was trashed to the scrap heap. Nothing was remotely close to worth risking salvage.
@@denniswhaley22 probably a hood idea. Extreme heat does crazy things to metal. And it would have been costly to make sure it's actually safe
@@denniswhaley22 they threw the AR away? I would have done a video on it.
There's no reason this guage should be unobtanium once we write a g-code program to cut them, milling marks on surface finish is honestly not important when gauging a sheet-metal clearance, even the highest tolerance sheet-metal magazines are probably .001" variance
a microprecision
Awesome thanks
