I agree the footage looks great! Like film. I have a Canon PS A40 & A70, many working Sony point & Shoot cameras from $1.95 to $20. I want to try working with the 640 footage. Was reading you can’t do anything with 640 footage now that we have 4K; I guess the experts are wrong! All the cheap cameras I have, do 640, 720, and 1080p footage. after seeing Your video I became inspired!
Love the unicycle action! However, not too bad for an older camera. That was fun! The photo challenge sounds like a one to watch for. Stay safe and healthy out there! Thank you for sharing a part of your day with us!
I picked up the same one in the thrift store. Had new batteries and a 2 gig card it works great I paid 21.58 out the door. Crazy thing is the next day I went back in the same store' in the back they had the a510 model marked (N/T not tested) for 89 cents. I picked up a card and batteries and it too works just as good if not better than the bigger model. What a deal.
Well I just want to cry you made things so simple like they were back then and really enjoying it the video is fantastic you bring back a lot of memories this is such an awesome video such a great little camera I'm a camera holic I have all those cameras still put away they look brand new I'll never get rid of them
i absolutely love this. i got a powershot SD600 at a garage sale and used that to make a few videos lol. but if you want to push it just a little more, CHDK can enable the camera to shoot virtually RAW video in its native resolution.
Hey there. I know this comment is quite old, and apologise for reviving it, but I tried chdk on my a630 and could not get anything else than 480p video out of it, and normal resolution photos even using chdk. Will be very thankful if you do end up reply. Have a nice day
@@f_for_freedom2492 ah, I wasn’t able to find any resolution settings either. 480p IS it’s native video resolution, I didn’t mean sensor resolution so sorry about that. But there is a setting for video BITRATE in there. Setting the bitrate to 2x the usual makes the video quality remarkably clear even for standard definition video
@@EVRLYNMedia Hi, thanks for the reply. Well don't worry about it. I thought I had read on their forums that the sensor had a crazy high resolution, but the processor just isn't powerful enough to encode it. Well, I tried the bitrate setting, but it doesn't seem to make quite a difference on mine. Perhaps it's just worn out. Is that even possible ? I've also had a serious issue with grain even in very bright scenes, so it's probable that mine is just worn out. Thanks for the reply either way, have a nice day !
@@f_for_freedom2492 That's odd. The quality difference is subtle (i mean its still 480p) but i would definitely chose the better video quality. i use an sandisk extreme III card to get the most bitrate out of that otherwise bottlenecked interface.
@@EVRLYNMedia It is indeed odd, I also use a sandisk extreme (not sure which one, but it does 90mb/s, so it should be plenty) but I could not personally notice a difference. Maybe this camera really is worn out. Well either way, I'll be moving on to film soon, and this one will be sitting pretty on a shelf probably, as decoration. Rest well deserved.
Howdy Weston! I had some nostalgia back in the ‘50s…picture me standing next to the Disney Studio cameras in the high desert east of Bend, Oregon, taking Kodachrome 25 slides of the filming of Disney’s “Tonka” with my Kodak Pony 135!!! Even the rubber tipped arrows looked real!! Well, until a rubber tipped Arrow bounced off of the back of a cavalry officer!!!
Love your video so excited to see how good it works it's a great little camera while you're bringing back memories I want to go back to those point and shoots thank you for sharing
11:20 This is the camera that I use for my RUclips channel XD When I'm not using my iPhone. You can see the footage in my "The Notebook" video, minimally edited. The main problem I have is the hinge on the battery door, and the microphone noise. It does take some great photos though...!
how u slow motion 20fbs .....cuse i have powershot sx50hs it film 24fbs/s and when i slow down to -500% it looks so lagy please any help ? and sorry foe my english 😁
I bought a brand new cannon "film" camera to replace my old film camera that finally broke... Digital was just coming out and I thought, Who would get into that. LOL Now I need to get a dslr to shoot my videos in my shop for my channel. I am still using my phone. What is your input for us non-filmmaking or vlogging channels? I do more how-to type videos in my shop. Blacksmithing, Welding and other projects. So I like watching videographers and vloggers but my needs are different. I just do the best I can. Take care.
You can get an old Canon DSLR for really cheap used, they’re great because you can set the focus manually on the lens to your table to show what you’re doing.
hahah honestly I really enjoyed the gimbal footage, kind of a vibe! I just got my hands on one of these from my wife's grandparents and this video is exactly what I needed. Thanks Weston!
I have the A570, thought they were expensive. What's the reason for such a big video card. You do a vid then save it to something, pc, then record over it. I just recently found out if you are going to do a lot of over recording you need a special card, I need it for my dash cam.
Thanks for this. Dug out my icy blue version of this camera hoping to make videos with it but I guess I better get a real one. I don't know how you ride that unicycle..well done sir
I have a Casio Exilim S8 which takes pictures and video. My Google Pixel 3 reads the SD card for photos but doesn't read the video. Where do I look to find the answer to fix this problem?
Try bringing down ur whites in lumetri in premiere. Like 25 points. It looks like ur having the highlight clip issue that happens on sony cameras. I'm assuming you didnt expose ur interview like that. Give it a shot and you'll notice much better highlight roll off.
Sir, I have a question I don’t have an sd card on my Camera rn “Same model” and it is not opening. Is it not opening bec it doesn’t have sd card? Or the camera is broken?
How much mAh battery should be used for this camera? I have 2450mAh AA battery but after 2 minutes it shows that replaces the battery. Can you please help me?
my Powershot a520 is not powering on with battery, but works fine on the DC power cord, so its something to do with the contacts, even though they are clean, could be a capacitor thats worn out, but any fix is welcome in the comments, Sidenote, CCD based digital cams have recently become sought after becuase of their more film like output, don't pay to much for one, chances are it will just stop working one day and need a team of experts to figure out which component on the circuit board expired.

No Kodak is similar to a Canon digicam, Kodak are junk in comparison. Photos from a Kodak are mushy the colors are weird not even close to being as good as a Canon.
The cinematic looked like an intro to a movie from the 2000’s, dont get me wrong that was great!
Thanks so much! It does really look like that!

It’s got that 2004 vibe. Proof that you don’t need $3000 of camera gear to make something cool, but also proof you do need a $600 gimbal hahaha
Haha yeah. At least this gimbal wasn’t that expensive. The look is definitely a vibe, reminds me of late 90s hallmark movies!
Hey now you have the gimbal from this video! Crazy!
I love the nostalgic vibe that camera produces
Me too! Another video about just that is coming soon!
