- The Unknown Region is quite a strange place and a lot of the facts seem to point towards it being artificially created, today we look at some theories on how this might be possible.

7:25 With the Vecta Prime system being the apparent gateway to the galaxy, it would make sense for the New Republic to heavily fortify it after the Yuzang Vong invasion in case anything else tried to get through.
There could be more Vong fleets, there could be something else (a machine race?). Turning Vecta Prime into a fortress system with Interdictor technology and emergency beacons to warn the rest of the galaxy seems prudent.
And a few faculties at surrounding systems on the chain, just in case they get overwhelmed.
I don't think the Vecta Prime system was the gate way per se. It's more probable that the Vong just Kind of wound up there and could have come through other systems in that area as well. They did travel with sublight speed to that Galaxy, not with a fixed end point, if I remember correctly.
Instead of fortifying one random system, they should fortify the complete outer systems of the Galaxy, kinda like tha Atlantik Wall. :p

Vector Prime wasn't a system. It was a gap in the hyperspace barrier around the galaxy. It was located near the Helska system. And it might not be possible to do anything about it. We don't know how big a gap it was.
Maybe the Unknown Regions are chaotic because it is the remains of a collision with another much smaller galaxy.

In legends it’s implied the unknown regions was designed by the celestial to protect the wrest of the galaxy from a inter dimensional horror the Mnggal Mnggal.
The unknown regions is located inside Rian Johnson’s head & this is the primary reason why episode 8 was so messed up.

I remember a video about Plagueis saying that his big experiment with the Force made it counterattack and create Anakin because it was mad at the Sith. So, Plagueis would avoid Anakin at all costs (he later confirmed Anakin's age and the time of his "conception" matched the days he tried the experiment the subdue the Force). At the time, he didn't tell any of this to Sidious, and that's why, unware of the danger, he took him as his main Sith apprentice.
Can't we just say both of them created Anakin. Creating life is a really hard thing to do and it probably would take the power of 2 Sith.

I think it would be better to keep them a mystery.
They should delve deeper into the unknown region mythos, but, I think, by not, diluting the expanded universe stories. So many fine writers, and artists, put their all into it all, that it should be given credit, and far more respect.
Also, I rather like the idea of the unknown region, having been artificially manipulated into being the weird place it is. Even more, the irony, that it was meant to shelter it's makers, and ultimately failed, trapping them instead...while letting the enemies in.
Rakata prime is in the unknown region and they rule the galaxy for a time.
I like to imagine snoke is just a deformed rakatan but I doubt it

The Corellian Trilogy was the first set of novels I read that got me into canon...er... legends. After that I bought tons of books on Amazon at the time and read them all. Haven't kept up though since maybe the mid 2000s.

I have a theory that the reason for the UR being so hard to get to from the Eastern side of the galaxy in canon is due to the Mortis Gods. I think that the Son and Daughter may have had a battle in the region which resulted in the anomalies which caused all the stuff (solar storms, nebulae, black holes etc) that made the region near-inaccessible to the rest of the galaxy. After that, the Father took them to Mortis to protect the universe from their power.
I hope some of the unknown regions is in episode 9

My fix for the Holdo maneuver would be that hyperspace travel would be made impossible or at least very hard. They could even take it to the Unknown Regions, where the Great Hyperspace War, or a couple wars after that, caused the hyperspace lanes to collapse, and creating black holes instead. Two birds one stone.

In my almost 49 years orbiting the star Sol, in the Milky Way galaxy, I have enjoyed a lot of different Science Fiction. Unfortunately, in some of my favorite franchises their is usually at least one writer who decides to write something that really frustrates anyone who has studied physics and or astronomy, and then a editor or producer that's has as little or less understanding of those subjects makes what the writer did official and the fictional universe is stuck with a stupid concept until, but sometimes even after, reboots.
Because of course galaxies have hard physical edges, and you can only enter or exit at the edges of the disc or spiral. Instead of being three dimensional objects in three dimensional spaces which can be entered or exited from any direction or point, and at a certain distance from the gravitational center the number of orbiting particles becomes statistically zero.

Here's an idea for a video - why didn't the Rebel Alliance, New Republic, or Resistance use battle droids to compensate for their smaller numbers against the Empire or First Order? Didn't y'all do a video on why the Rebel Alliance didn't use clone troopers?

@@khadenallast4495 The only problem with that (in Star Wars) is the end of The Empire Strikes Back- well, that's the most obvious one. The rendezvous of the Rebel Fleet is clearly outside the Galactic Plane, (and whether its "The Galaxy" seen out the Redemption's window or one of the satellite galaxies, (which ALSO have been travelled to, i.e., the Rishi Maze) is fairly immaterial).
I wonder if the Architects have something to do with Iokath, as it is located in the unknown region as well.

I don’t know why I have believed this, but I thought the chaos in the Unknown Region is a result of an ongoing collision with another much smaller galaxy.
It could also be the result of a super weapon.
I hope we see more of the unknown region but I think star wars would lose something if all of their galaxy was completely mapped and discovered. Needs a bit of mystery.

And yet maps are flat, but what is there to keep ships from traveling over or under to get around these things? Or multiple probe, probe ships to plot safer locations about it. Similarly to dump out marbles to see what marbles do not disappear in order to figure it out.

Why cant people explore up, down, left, right, forward or back from the center of known space??? These explanations make it seem like there are only a few directions to go to fund un known space. Known space is to me like a d6. Essentially like an area inside a cube. Just pick a direction and one will find the end of known space and enter unknown locations. Am I wrong with the 3d galaxy map???

At the end of ESB it is presumed that they are looking at one of the satellite galaxies instead of the actual one.

What is the difference between a gravity well and a black hole?
A gravity well is the pull of gravity that a large body in space exerts. A black hole is basically a lot of mass in a small area of space.
