What size is the Table top? The size of the table top I have is 75.5cm - 155cm
Why did you use 2 x 4 Kallax instead of 1 x 8 Kallax? I decieded to go for the 2 x 4 one as I was unsure if I would use them back to back or side by side.

As someone who lives alone, you have given me inspiration and motivation to keep up the work that I do! I recently had to put up 3 ikea units by myself and it was quite difficult! I think ikea have made their instructions even harder so that we use task rabbit! ugh! anyway, enough babbling! Well done you!

I was looking to do my own kitchen island because they are expensive and I came across your video it looks easy I will be making it for my new apartment thank you
Just wanted to say a quick thank you, as I attempted this over the weekend - I can’t lie, the hardest part for me was lugging that silly box upstairs, as it was not the lightest.
I used the 8-box unit as it was on sale for £50, then purchased the under-frame for £20 [the 4-box under-frame is £15 from memory].
For the tabletop, I managed to find a return Lagkapten top in the re-use section of IKEA for £12.99.
Just need to figure out what I’m doing with the top section, as I used the doors/drawers for the bottom (which aren’t the cheapest).
I kind of like the idea of incorporating some sort of wine rack.
I used one of the bottom cubes to hide away my air-fryer when not in use, giving me some much needed worktop space back.
Oh I love that 🤩 I think using the 8 box unit with the under frame is such a money saver and definitely the better option, that’s an amazing find for the table top 😃 always good to look in those sections, love the idea of the wine rack that would look lovely ☺️ so glad you’ve done this it’s so functional and easy to switch up ♥️ xxx

Thank you for sharing this. You did an amazing job. I liked the idea of the table top, but found their ready cut worktops. I want wheels on my kitchen island so that I can move it around when cleaning or need more space. I also want the door and draw inserts so that I can keep kitchen gadgets in. I just placed an order for everything and it only came to £394. We will need to buy some 2x6 wood for the underside so we can attach the wheels. We were originally going to go to B&Q so just saved over £400, and we will save space as it will not be so wide as B&Q units, so huge win.

The only thing I would have done differently is to put wheels instead of legs. You can get the wheels with a locking break on the so it doesn't move around.
