    The fashion sole isn’t as stated. This sole design along with a sponge rubber compound is designed to be used on hard flat surfaces such as concrete. The heal removal is to stave off tripping due to hang ups. Similar to traditional iron worker lace ups.

      You are correct, good observation. I guess what I meant was, for the purpose of this video and thinking about my audience, wedge soles in western boots are usually an aesthetic borrowed from functional soles on Thorogoods, RedWings and the like, as you mentioned. Thanks for the comment!

      @ben-jam-in6941 4 года назад +1

      I was thinking similar things. The wedge sole ain't designed for fashion but for WORK!!
      Most comfortable sole if your gonna be walking or in my personal experience chasing cattle all day (on my feet not on horseback) in the back of a Stockyard. Glad someone else noticed and knows the real intended use for the wedge.

      I'm not a physician, but knee pain could be related to heel hight. You may need a shorter heel or maybe your knees are just not used to a heel at all. Sorry they hurt but best of luck to ya!

    From my experience a creep sole is not a good option for horse riding as you stated. It’s too thick to slip in and out of the stirrups, which can be very dangerous if your foot gets stuck. A creep sole is good for walking/work, it’s soft and dampens impact. Most horse riders use pure leather soles with a steel shank or thin rubber soles. Also the “fashion sole” is used in work boots and has been for a long time. Red wing for example has been using that sole for a long time.

    • @GulottasVideo
      @GulottasVideo  5 лет назад +5

      You're right, I wish I would have elaborated more on those soles. I made this video for my south Louisiana customers who don't usually where wedge soles for work and the majority of my crepe sole customers are riders. I'm generalizing my customers here and never mean to give misinformation so thank you for clarifying! I'm grateful for your time.

    I'm afraid to wear my boots with leather sole. I don't think the leather soles would last so I was thinking to go see a cobbler to put on rubber sole over the leather sole. How long does the leather soles last?

    • @GulottasVideo
      @GulottasVideo  2 года назад

      I mean, I would never be afraid to wear out a sole. How long a sole lasts really depends on the wearer and conditions and time spent in the boots. I work indoors and if I wear a particular boot almost every day a leather sole might last me a year. I'd suggest just wearing them until you wear out the sole then put a pair of rubbers on. Thanks for the comment!

    As far as comfort leather sole every time,for work you need hard rubber such as vibram or double h boots ice soles,foam soles wear out too quick and absorb water,oils,ect from wherever you walk. PS Justin,airat are junk and mostly made overseas buy American double H best boots out there

      Double H Ice sole is almost unbeatable, I have to agree with you there. They are very hard though, and for some people a softer sole is a good compromise for cushioned comfort. Always good to have options

    Couple of things... Wedge soles been around longer than this fella has been a live.... they have a larger contact surface and they tend to pick up less rocks, dirt, etc. on a jobsite... they are definitely work boots and not "fashion".... I can't believe he said that. (insert face palm) and I never thought I'd get boot advice from a dude with a mohawk... Just stumbled across this channel.

    • @GulottasVideo
      @GulottasVideo  3 года назад +2

      Heheh, I think I confused a lot of y'all with that one. So, I recorded this video for my local customer base, which is south Louisiana, where almost no one wears wedge soles to work, mostly because most oilfield jobs require a defined heel. So the vast majority of my customer have never seen wedge soles on workboots, basically the only boots around here with wedge soles are in the fashion/casual category. The boots in the video, for example, are Ariat Ramblers, which are definitely not a work boot. I am aware of the use of wedge soles on workboots though. This was never meant for a national audience, but I'm so glad you found it, and thanks for your comment! Also, prolly a good rule of thumb to not take advice from a dude with a mohawk, hahah.
