Jim and Meat were both lovely, friendly, intelligent and vastly talented guys. I was one of the first hacks to champion their work and I'm so sorry they are both gone now. Legends. Btw the lady who runs Jim's website sent me tickets for the London run of the Bat musical and it's a must-see show for anyone who loves Jim's music. "Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs"... Also we should never forget the contribution of producer Todd Rundgren to the original album, including making his guitar sound like a motorcycle when Jim demanded motorcycle sounds on the title track!
In the history of Rock music seldom has someone’s career owed so much to one man as Meatloaf owes his totally without question to the genius that is Jim Steinman ,no question.
So,,, your saying jim Steinman gave meatloaf his awesome singing voice? And he could give the songs to Justin Beber and they’d still be awesome?? That’s like saying Elton John owes everything to Bernie taupin Don’t think so
meat and jim are pretty much brothers . it go,s beyond friends beyond band mates there family . and theres alot of love between them. and that jim has now passed on im pretty sure its hit meat very hard
They just never worked together after Bat Out Of Hell, they tried though. On the second album, Meatloaf's voice went bad and the songs sounded terrible. The record company was in a hurry so they ended up letting Jim do the singing himself for the follow-up album. Jim lost interested in doing any more sequels and started to work with other artists. Meatloaf used Jim's songs to fill up his albums and went on for over a decade. FINALLY, the planets aligned and they ended up talking to each other on the phone to do Bat Out Of Hell 2 16 years later with massive success. Now there was some conflict with the third Bat Out Of hell and Meatloaf tried to force Jim to come make the third album before he was ready. Meat just wasn't about to wait so he went forward and than the legal wrangling began to use the name Bat Out Of Hell. Finally Jim got ready to do another album with Meat 10 years after but by than Meatloaf lost his voice and his career was about to end. Now Jim's life has come to and end 5 years later. RIP JIM!
That's the way it did go! They had conflicts, got back together, had more conflicts, got back together. Very common in the music business! @@marmartin528
Lol no you didn't Marvin. You wouldn't dare piss off Jim. Jim is the only reason you're famous sure you had a good voice but what's a voice without a good songwriter?
Like saying a husband is more important than a wife would be myopic, there are innumerable examples otherwise. Obviously much more extensive musically, nevertheless: Elton has definite independent talent; so does Taupin. The UNION is legendary.
Lol don't worry meat never buy crap magazines or listen to any rubbish lies on the net or TV. All these people who create stories are after one thing $$$$ xx
What about the time Meat Loaf thought he should get more money from royalties ? He was in the wilderness for years without Jim’s songs . Even Bat 3 was a heap of shit with a lamé reference to Jim . The awful braver than we are should never have been released !
Goodbye Jim Steinman...you and Meat were magic together.
Don't worry. Jim is no longer rocking solo.
RIP to the two legends !

Jim Steinman RIP I will hear your music in my head till I pass.

agreed.
They owe each other their careers, who else could have sang the Bat out of hell album?
@@wiganer9912 yeah I guess that is very true .
Meat Loaf is an instrument that only Jim could play.
So,,, your saying jim Steinman gave meatloaf his awesome singing voice? And he could give the songs to Justin Beber and they’d still be awesome??

Don’t think so
I love how when he's talking about the gum Andrew looks surprised and about to crack up
Goodbye Jim. You and meat are solid gold and Crying out loud is my favourite song. Thank you for the music guys ❤️❤️
Now we have to say goodbye to Meat Loaf
CHEERS FOR BAT OUT OF HELL EVERY BIKERS DREAM SONG TO RIDE TO
Got my first speeding ticket to that song
Nice story Meat and Jim forever
Brilliant
I like Loaf, but he is rewriting history there--lawyers do not sue for no reason. Him and Jim took turns suing each other
Sadly meatloaf is knackered now
meat and jim are pretty much brothers . it go,s beyond friends beyond band mates there family . and theres alot of love between them. and that jim has now passed on im pretty sure its hit meat very hard
Two of my favourite artists of all time
Pittsburgh loves you Meat and Jim........Thank you......
Artists and lawyers... how are they from the same species?
Well, that was certainly an interesting story.
Jim is a much better story teller. R.I.Mythology, Jim Steinman a true original.
It’s possible to get along with someone you are around a lot. I have a job and I haven’t gotten into one argument with them.
Brilliant
He used to chew Juicy Fruit
Who's the cute guy sitting next to Meatloaf!
His name is Andrew Polec, he played the lead character of Strat in the Bat Out Of Hell Musical
Meatloaf sounds different to his singing here.
Meat would always embellish a story.
Meat and Jim... like Bernie and Elton... inseparable.
I bet you and jim rocky in heaven thank you both ❤❤

Dead Ringer? Missing an album bud
Who told you the story in that way? You only have bad words for some the music world consider as a legend.
That's the way it did go! They had conflicts, got back together, had more conflicts, got back together. Very common in the music business! @@marmartin528
Why can’t the manger’s put their names and not you and Jim? That’s just stupid.
Meat Loaf already seems a little ill in this interview.
I ship it. #meatjim...#jimloaf....
Actually nvm I don’t ship it.
#Steinloaf

He changed his name from Marvin to Michael in 1984. That effectively shows how outdated your knowledge about him is.
maxtor1981 Yeah

I hope you feel better after your empty and cruel words.
I thought he was long dead as a coffin nail, is he a cockroach or something?
dude be respectfull! he is a good singer and a funny man as this video clearly shows
Cockroach??
No... He's Meat Loaf 😎
try to think about this one for a second... Maybe, JUST MAYBE... this was filmed while he was alive, many years ago?!?
