My father held the Kansas record for 10 years. He was the greatest flat head Fisher I have ever seen. He had 200 acres of land and had a flathead skull on every post
BILOXI FATTY flathead skulls on fence posts! (Mine were obtained by my noodling grandpa in Southwest Missouri.).
For those not in the know, a flathead skull on the fence post signifies a few things: #1 Its good folk. #2 They can kick your ass. #3 They won’t cause they gotta peace keeper up under the seat that they ain’t afraid to use!
Bridges do offer so much. Catfish also love the shade on hot summer days. And also an easy food source from all types of live bait that fall or jump off the bridge. I have hooked alot of fish as soon as my bait hits the water.
169 bridge and MN river good spot for flats. Caught a couple few nights ago on the south side of the river bank fishing but haven't been on the north side yet.

If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
My Dad taught us how to catch flatheads at night using carp minnows on the Rio Grande in New Mexico. Great videos guys!

Caught a 39lb flat in mt sterling il. Out of a creek.. was only using worm fishing for channel and whatever else bit. Didn't expect to see a monster like that. Its my PB so far and it's been two years. Still trying to beat it

They bite a lot different down here. We fish with bluegill and they hold on to it for a while before they take it. A lot of the time, if you miss a flathead here , The bream won’t have any scales left. They hold it in their mouth before they run with it.
Whats a good time to wait in 1 spot for these flatheads. Usually with channels if no bites or not much in 20mins i find new spot and seems to work but flatheads I've only caught a few over years so not experienced on their habits.

Flatheads are some of the hardest fighting freshwater fish I know. In one morning I caught both an 8lb flathead and a 20lb blue catfish, and they both fought just as hard. Their just all out fun fish to catch
Come to NC and I'll show you a hole where you can catch double digit numbers of 20+ lb flatheads from the bank. They are also an insane neon green and yellow color. Good luck rippin lips fellas 🇺🇸

Chattanooga Tennessee aquarium in the river exhibit there are pictures taken by divers that inspect the Chickamauga Dam for cracks and what not. You have to go and see for yourself to believe the size of those flatheads living in those cracks. Literally could eat a medium sized dog or large cat. They are other worldly HUGE.
Great video guys. One of the rivers I fish a lot reminds me of this river you guys are fishing. It's mostly pretty shallow, but constantly changes every time the water comes up. One of my favorite spots is on a bridge pylon with lots of structure. The front part is usually 6 to 8 foot deep then it's heavy wood structure. The back part of the wood structure usually runs 16 to 20 ft. Some times you can wear them flatheads out.

That must a different kind of flatjead than we have that just smashes it. Where i live they just chew on it, pick it up and move it around, chew it some more, swim around with it a while then might take it.

I noticed you guys are using penn fathoms on some of your setups. Curious how those are with the bigger catfish abd how they handle casting. I just recently setup my penn fathom 15LW on a Big cat fever Heavy rod for some catfish next spring once i get my boat operational. Wondering if i could cast it from shore or if its not worth even trying
They handle big fish better ir as good as any high quality reel. We run the lw20

Yep bullheads work extremely well at catching flatheads that is usually my first choice second would be bluegill my great granddad use to say lye soap was the best bait I don't know for sure if he was being serious or just messing with me
Big Rivers are for holding cut bait, very large cut bait is what they are good for.

I really don’t get catch and release on catfish but to each their own. I guess I’m from the South where we fry some golden catfish nuggets in peanut oil.
We believe in selective harvest. Small fish can be eaten while the large ones are returned to the water.

We pulled out 2 50 lb flats this year our best was a 68 lb flat head and our best blue this year was a 57 lb....but my boy cought a 72 lb Asin carp ...

Are you fishin a Great Lakes trib? I'm not lookin for you to burn the spot up. I'm just curious. I am in NYS. Our tribs hold some nice Channel Cats but never saw a Flathead and I target Cats all summer long. Obviously the fall bite is silly but I'm on to Chrome by then.
