This looks like an interesting lens, but I've got to say the 9mm f/1.7 on a M43 Olympus body with PDAF will work better for video. Get the lens and camera for about the price of this lens.
@@PavSZ Couldn't help noticing the price difference. At a whopping $999, it's a big investment, especially given it's a plastic lens. I guess I'm more price conscience than most- that's why I shoot M43. I shoot Olympus because there's no PDAF in Panasonic land... it's really a shame!
@@imagenatura I hear you! I have both M43 and full frame cameras (GH4, G9, and S5). I shoot real estate photography/videography and also as a hobbyist. I only got the S5 because some clients want full-frame cameras (when I shoot contract), but I have to admit that it is a better choice for indoor video since it can handle low light better and allows me to keep the ISO lower. But for stills and video in decent light, the M43 cameras offer a professional image quality that I would stack up against my full frame any day. And now (a year after your post), Panasonic has PDAF cameras for both M43 and S-series full frame bodies. I'm never going to give up my M43 kit. I bought a 100-400mm zoom (200-800 ff equivalent) and can keep growing my kit for much less $$ than I can with the full frame cameras.
18mm was already announced in the Lumix lens map awhile ago and all others have already come out. There is no plans for them to release 135mm f1.8 (it would be impossible for it to be the same size as others anyway)
Thanks for making in depth videos. I decided to purchase an S5 after watching your videos!
Glad I could help! Thank you for watching!!
Love that you’re one of the few S series camera shooters. Keep at it.
thanks you!
Amazing Lumix lens
it is
great informative video, from a new photographer/videographer keep doing you man! Love the content!
Thank yo so much! Nice to read this
It's very hard work right now 🙁
Thanks for sharing this product
My pleasure 😊 Thank you for watching!
Debating between this and the 16-35 for real estate vlogging. Great review.
both great. 16-35 more versatile overall
beautiful images, color & bokeh.
Many thanks!
Superb lense from Lumix 👍👍👍
It really is!
First! Looks like a great new wide angle lens! Good job bro!
Thanks!
Super Pav!!
thanks!
For such a niche focal length its probably better to get the sigma 16-28
I love the Sigma 16-28 but this is a different tool for a different job with that wide f1.8 aperture
Hello Sir. Really enjoy your content. How would you compare this Lumix S 18MM F1.8 with Sigma 17MM F4 for Videography with S5IIx?
Lumix is a better lens on Lumix S5IIx, for everything

@Jerimiah Cook Not quite. It's a 3.4, depending on which body you use. One could argue that F/1.8 on FF is overkill for such a wide lens.
it makes no sense to get 9mm for Olympus m43 body if you have a full frame Lumix camera and other lenses in this series already

is leica 9 mm is as good as this 18mm in sharpeness and micro constrast ?
maybe. I think you'd have to be very, very picky to find differences
One question, can we shoot open gate on lumix S1 with this lens?
very good question .... I don't really know
Man I only want Panasonic to make a solid fast 105mm prime. Then I'd be golden!
me too!
Hang in there. Jan 8th announcement upcoming.
This is awesome, but a 135mm f1.8 would be the last piece of the puzzle

@@PavSZ Yes that’s what I thought.. 😔
