Very nice layout you don't have to worry about what other model rail readers think it's your layout it's all about what you like we are simply along for a look at what other models are doing injoy the best hobby in the world be safe Brorher
I agree. I watched the last video as well and understood what you were talking about. I read what the other person commented and that person should have rewatched the video to get what you said. I will do that myself and if need be, turn on the closed captions on videos to understand what someone says. By the way I don't have to do that with you.
I'd recommend making the main on the outside (largest radius), with mostly (only?) straight leg for the main (not using the diverging route, if possible). Progress looks great!
Awesome video and layout, very cool! I really like the turnouts you use. I use Peco electroftog turnouts and track (Code 55) throughout my layout and are quite pleased. The track is durable when you start cutting with a cutting tool and the switches work great.
David HAPPY NEW YEAR great progress on the peninsular don't worry what the others think at the end of the day its your Railroad you do what you like and what best suits the amount of space that you have HAPPY RAILROADING AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR DAVID ;-)
Having planned a track to use for the main run, don't forget that you still need a spare empty track through the yard for anything that is stopping there. Recall seeing an exhibition layout go all pear-shaped because there was a lack of communication between those running it and they ended up with all the rear staging all blocked up with a train which had no where to go. You'd think that they had it all planned out but when someone unexpectedly took some extra stock to run it but nobody had thought it through with regard to what was already there. Raised voices ensued. All the best for 2025.
I’m sure that can easily happen. You make a good point. I will probably assign staging/storage tracks to certain set trains I run and when it comes to operations make sure I have an extra free.
Hi David , you have been busy. I like your plans. I would keep the run thought on the outside track. Looking forward to seeing your next update. Thanks for sharing.Have a good week. Happy New Year ! ! 😎😎 👍
Happy New Year, David!!! As you mentioned, trust the process!!! I'm glad to see the update and the completion of this change. I like your friends idea as well!
Nice! I see lots of room for additional stub end staging. You could go right down the middle of the loop for stub end storage. You could build on both sides of the throat with long stub end storage as well. You could use those stubs ends for storing the trains you do not run often. In the center stub end you would back up through the throats, then go around the loop. For the stubs on both sides of the throat, you would back into the loop, then move up the throat. You wouldn't have to expand the storage yard immediately, but you could put in the switches/turnouts now that would allow you to expand when you are ready. Just an idea...
Hey, The right side of the bench work on the peninsula get used as a work area when needed. I will probably put a turnout in on the other side for a small industry.
Happy New Year David. I am a little concerned that you might have difficulty seeing and getting to, the inner tracks of your staging but I'm sure you have thought of that. I would make the outside track the main and switch that before the throat to make it more scenic. Lastly I would make the throat as simple as possible. You have given yourself the room and why take chances with 3 way points when there is no need especially if that part of the track work is covered. All the best, Brian
Holy crap! I am new to your channel and I have to ask, do you always laminate plywood strips to make your grading? That's absolutely amazing, but it looks like it must be tedious as all get out! And if I might make one suggestion on your staging, that planned track on the outside of the loop you might consider making it around track, you know... just in case...😉As for the yard throat, Micro-Engineering are equally as good as PICO, and yes I know I just opened a can of worms with that statement, but I believe you would get the same function and reliability out of them without incurring the cost of having to buy new turnouts.
Hey, Thanks for taking a look at my channel. I do make all of my grades with spline. Yea it was tedious at first but I’ve got a bit of a process now and can do it pretty quickly. I found that the limitations of the ply helps create very nice curves.
The Atlas N code 55 turnouts do look so much better but I have never been impressed, the points are so fragile, some of the frogs have to be filed down inside because the and trains don't run so smoothly over them, Always wanted to try ME turnouts but too late now. I see a lot of blank plywood. What are you doing with that. Why not add more staging track, maybe some industry for operations? There is something to be said about the ruggedness of the Pecos

Thanks for your support. I very much do what makes me happy but I think my explanation of my plans wasn’t clear so I was just clarifying that 👍

I’ve decided to keep the main on the outside 👍
Keep the points on the outside to make the yard lengths even

I’ve done more of a stocktake and I’ve got more than enough to do this rejig so I’ll stick with it.

wow. neat
Glad you like it. I hope you’re staying warm.
Happy New Year. I'm glad to hear from you 😊 !
Thanks for watching. Hopefully I’ll get a good bit of progress in the next few weeks.
Happy New Year and great update. Thanks for sharing. Dave

Hey Tommy,
I hope you had a good New Year. I’ve decided the main will stay on the outside.
Mainline to the outside ... larger radius.
Happy New Year. I would make outside main. Not inner. Great progress.
Thanks Matt,
The more I think about it think I will leave the outside run as the main.

Hey Mike, in the end I’ve decided to keep the main on the outside. I’ll put on a little safety fascia though.

I think that’s good advice. Go with what I know works for me.
Happy New Year.
All the new work is looking cool.
Cheers,
I hope you had a good New Year.
The inner track could be used for locals - 4 wheel switchers etc.
I think there will be a few yard rules put in place.
Excellent as always David
Cheers.
Nice video, Happy New Year 🍀🍀.
Greetings Gert
Happy New Year to you too, thanks for taking a look.
Bless you 10:05

David try micro engineering code 55 turnouts just as good as pico code 55 even better ;-)
