- The Sea Cliff Bridge is a feature of the final races of the 2022 UCI road world championships. This glorious stretch of road is only 10km from Helensburgh, where the elite road races for women and men will begin. There will be a brief neutral zone, though to the end of the steep descent from Bald Hill, and kilometre zero will be at Stanwell Park, only 5km from the Sea Cliff Bridge.
On 10 June 2022, when it was 100 days until #Wollongong2022, there was an opportunity to ride the course with the Safety Officer of the worlds, Mark Renshaw. I joined for the early stanza (and then had mechanical troubles, and abandoned while the others in my bunch continued through to Wollongong).
This is the story of my ride on Friday 10 June 2022.

Thank you very much! Excellent photography.
Love The Gong! It's beautiful!
Rob, maybe you can ask Mark Renshaw if they have finished rebuilding the road from Keira to Kembla. I was there 3 weeks ago and there was a big steel gate, concrete bollards, a lot of pot holes, a lot of mud and a lot tree branches. With 6 weeks to go, I think the worlds course will end up being a hot dog circuit crit race across the sea cliff bridge.Thats about the only thing we are ever shown of the course on their (your channel) advertising.
Bartlomiej,
It seems you think Mark Renshaw can solve more than his remit requires. I was there yesterday and can confirm that it's still a no-through-road... and it's because the issues relating to storms (ie. road slips and fallen trees and general carnage of horrible weather for much of this year) have impacted the road.
That's life in 2022 mate.
Lots of things can be better but we must appreciate the good.
(At the motocross track, I turned around, went back up the hill, took in the Mt Keira lookout before dropping back down into Wollongong for a coffee followed by a swim. It wasn't what I'd planned for the day but it was pretty bloody good.)
