You may have solved two of my problems. First, I don't like the texture of canned ground beef. So I will try cooking it the way you did and dry canning as well. Second, my hubby likes to grab a pint jar of different meats to make himself something to eat, then the other half stays in the fridge and we don't always get to it. So canning a single serving in half pints is a great idea!
