We live in southern Colorado and regularly drive to various places in Texas. No charging options in southern Colorado through northeastern New Mexico and through Texas panhandle except in Amarillo. And so we need 400 mile range…we also regularly keep our gas models 10 years and don’t want that battery replacement cost or getting new cars every 4 years. The infrastructure in California is not replicated outside the cities in the rest of the country. It is gonna be a long time before the infrastructure is there.

I sold my Model 3 after two years. I found that while on the interstate I was burning at a rate of 1.8 instead of 1:1 on the range. The cost at the Tesla chargers isn't cheap either. My calculations at the time were that I was operating at the same cost as a 38mpg vehicle except I wasn't getting the range as a 38mpg vehicle. I would have to stop numerous times between Phoenix and San Diego. Gila Bend, Tacna, Yuma, and El Centro. I'd be on electric vapor after coming over the mountain down into San Diego. I would have to find a hotel with a charger immediately.

I traded in my ‘22 RAV4 Hybrid after 8 months due to the fact that it did not live up to the claimed 38-40 mpg as soon as the weather got cold (31mpg). The press generally does not mention this fact in their reviews.

Was renting a Bolt on the Avis Uber rental program. Drove 34,000 miles in 5 months.
The vehicle held up great to daily hard hammering. Extremely nimble in parking lots, and customers really liked the easy entry/exit and how roomy the back seat area is.

Most people don't give a flying turd about tailpipe emissions. Yes, some do. It sounds like that is your thing but most people are bottom line people, especially today. BEV is for virtue signallers but is impractical for most people except as a purely urban transport method. Useless on the road. Range anxiety is a real thing. Gas stations are everywhere. 100 years ago gas range anxiety was real. Maybe in 20 years fast cheap charging will be everywhere but not under current politics. Most people want a reliable affordable car. EV is neither. Watching your range plunge on a -10 degree day is truly fear inspiring.

There isn't a grid problem as the utilities have said for years. The US grid has grown 5x since the 70's and will easily keep up, although it would be nice if they accelerated energy storage for wind and solar. But the energy market is also set up for non-stored power so that will need to change too. It isn't like we will be replacing all 200 million vehicles overnight.

My Electric Company puts out a magazine each month so you can read up on the state of the business. This months magazine was 2023 in review, they had to take "another" 4 percent of power generation offline with no replacement warning of not being able to keep the lights on through cold blasts of Winter Storms. Makes zero sense to cut supply and raise demand at the same time.

Look around and if you can find one buy a crown Victoria or equal with around 80/100 thousand miles, these cars of that type can run for over 200,000 miles and most mechanics can fix them, the same applies to most of the well made Buick's, and many others keep on using a gas powered car or truck , because the EV crazies in CA will bring you down to their stupid world and cause you to see your wallet empty quickly, just look at CA companies and people are leaving, in droves and higher and higher taxes, so wait until all the hazards with EV types have been sorted and then take a look in say 15 years.

How's your 100,000 ft view of the EV picture? Do you believe lithium mining is sustainable? Do you believe the RoI on lithium mining, along with its long term resourcing worldwide, will come close to oil/ICE? Have you seen evidence that worldwide oil supply is trending to alarming levels? Are you knowledgeable enough to talk about gas turbine engines (GTE) and the aviation industry, relative to climate change i.e. impact vs. ICE cars worldwide? What about the trucking / long haul industry? ........all current and foreseeable EV owners are financing a much larger transition, whilst losing massively on the long term. This ain't horse --> car 2.0, it's more so fuel injection in the 50's not being for primetime 2.0. EVs will come back after this scam runs through, and after much larger systems are converted.
