I still like the old D2 best, by far, with its unobtrusive timeless design. Newer models have the ugly large "mouth" grille, LED christmas tree lighting, and have become rounder and more heavy. Most D2s really achieve their claimed 0-100 km/h times, while for the successors this is only true with the lightest possible configuration. And who needs built-in navigation these days, a phone or tablet does that just fine. Another important thing: there is more space for the legs in the old model, the center console is larger in the D3 and D4. They also have smaller trunks, especially in case of the latter. Carbon interior? Bah, carbon is nothing but a type of plastic. If your taste is that bad, the D2 panels can be made to look the same with foil.

D3 s8!!! I like all 3 generations but its something special about that v10!!! People that claim that the 2nd generation s8 isn't fast enough, obvious don't know anything about cars. its actually faster than it should be for a car weighting 2.5 tons, its 2.5 tons and 450hp, that is not enough horsepower to make a 2.5 ton car move as fast as the s8 moves. I own one so I know, a mercedes s63 weight slightly more than the d3 s8 but it has 518hp and 465 lb-ft and in real speed time and not on paper its no faster than the d3 s8. A friend of mines has one and on a roll race I pull on him, people act like 450hp from a n/a v10 should be pushing Lamborghini times, its a 2.5 ton luxury saloon, it is faster than it should be. I could understand if the s8 weight about 3,800 lbs but it don't, so I never understand when I hear that its not too fast, I run a 0-60 time on an average of 4.9-5.1 consistently, once 4.8...that from a 2.5 ton car with 450hp...cars with 60 times like that either weight way less with over 400+ hp or have 500+ horsepower. I'm not defending my car but I get sick of seeing people saying that it should be faster when physics shows that it shouldn't, name another car with a n/a engine that weight 2.5 tons that run a 60mph under 5.0 secs. besides the 518hp s63? No I'm not saying the d3 s8 is the fastest but for what it is, its fast.
if you own own you should know that you never get near the 450hp/395tq advertised. this v10 engine builds carbon up like crazy and power never kicks in until 3000rpm. we just dynoed one a week ago and it was 310hp to the wheel. real bad engine design from audi and why didn't they put some turbos on it at least to match the c6 rs6 with the v10

Audi really should make an RS8. AMG S-Class' success is a proof that there are space for high-performance big-size sedans.
And considering that the '13 RS6 already has 560 hp, I guess it would still be possible to extract some 600 hp from this V8 TFSI.
I still like the first gen, and the second generation is my favourite, it just has class.

i know you guys are funny, but the truth is there are many fast 4 door luxury cars before the s8, for eg the 6.3 mercedes benz sel and so on, but i love the s8 and especially the first gen, thumbs up please

I have S8 D2 with manual gearbox it does by vcds 5.5 sec 0 - 100 , so compared to 5.2 v10 S8 ,D2 not slow at all... u need take S8 with manual gearbox in this comparisson guys ;]

I have a first gen S8 with manual 6speed transmission! Should have tested that.. :) it takes 5.5sec 0/100... (all though i have never tried...)
That's why the S-class is the leader in class, the 5series e best in class, and 3 series is best in class aswell lol

raar he, dat een nieuwe auto beter is dan een auto die ontworpen is aan het begin van de jaren 90 die nu minder kost dan een nieuwe mini kia.
zou niet goed zijn als die nieuwe niet de beste was, anders kon audi wel opdoeken natuurlijk.
als je niets hebt met youngtimers en de autos niet in context kan zien moet je je niet aan dit soort vergelijkingen geven.

Niek Van Lieshout das e klasse. dit gaat over autos die een slag groter zijn.
Niek vL Audi A8 is een rivaal voor een S klasse. 500E W124 ging tegen de BMW M5 E34.

I agree, they shouldn't have made them look like foglights, that's like making a sub stick look like a cassette. They didn't on the older models, they were discreet.
They are not fog lights, they are radar sensors for adaptive cruise control and crash avoidance.
