Yes well...intermediate was kind of lame wasn't it? Haven't had time anymore for another round today so tomorrow you'll see some hard and extreme difficulty for AIs! Hope you still enjoyed the very first skirmish! Cheers

wow I started play Age of Empire since 1998 and till now 2021 for me this game is best of the best. its happy to see one more new game of this series coming :)
i really hope i can disable win conditions in the game like the sacred sites or the wonder construction. i really enjoyed AoE2 for the long games, and hope that AoE4 gives us the chance to do the same.
You can. In the match making setup, there were options to enable/disable whichever win condition you like. So I switched off Wonder & Sacred site victory conditions for longer games but left the 'Destroy all enemy landmarks' victory enabled to have some way of winning
I’ve never played AOE (just grew up on consoles and only recently got into strategy games) but oh my god this looks like so much fun. The constant management of so many different things, and the advancement and combat just all comes together so seamlessly
same, I never play AoE too, the only RTS game type like this I play is Command & Conquer Generals, it's similar and cool too, but it's less complicated compared to AoE
I am a die hard fan of this series, I really hope you continue to post this every now and then when it comes out. Obviously at a harder difficulty though, I hope the hardest isn’t easygoing tbh though.
You can shift click on the mills and other building to quickly add farms around it! Great video, at first I didn't like the game at all because of the crazy bad marketing campaign and some bad first looks/animations. But to be honest I am starting to like the game more and more because of these videos! You guys are carrying the developers so hard, keep it up!
Very nice man. Keep it coming. I know the beta is off but start thinking of some ideas for mindblowing thumbnails etc. Your channel is going to blow up :)
I like how much you post it always puts a smile on my face when you post a video. Edit:did not know niv was so good at aoe does that mean theres a possibility you record this when it comes out officially?
It's not about technology. Even back in AoE they could have programmed a mechanic that requires catapults to be driven by units. But they didn't implement it then, and they don't implement it now, because it's not fun. Making games isn't about striving for what's the most true to life. It's about finding a balance between fun and realism. While pulled catapults may look cool, they don't necessarily make for good gameplay. QA and playtesting will have confirmed that self-driving catapults is the best way to implement the mechanic.
Game looks super awesome thanks for sharing! My only gripe is that damn town center bell...Everytime you click the town center that Bell is way too loud and obnoxious. Sounds like an alarm bell like you're rallying the workers lol they need to fix that!!!
anyone notice @16:43 the archers attempt to push in closed formation and get charged by cavalry actively disrupting that formation. just a nice bit of unit mechanics add other things you enjoyed about the game play please
Couldn't MS just have put a static "Technical Stress Test" text in the corner of the screen. That text is driving me crazy. Anyway thanks for the video man.
Hope to see the AOE4 campaign from you when the game comes out. And you should play it on higher difficulty becouse the AI was so passive, like it tried to do the turtle strategy but instead of the real turtle it just built walls without any towers or anything and spread out a lot
I've always wondered if you could produce a special unit that could navigate through the woods. That would be interesting, the woods shouldn't count as a wall.
I mean if they had made the units smaller in comparison to the buildings they probably could of had more, but the director was being annoying so here we are.
If you like this game maybe you should play Ancestors Legacy. It have one of the best style of gameplay and combat I ever seen, capable of give difficulty even on you. And he have VIKINGS!!!!! 😍 P. S. Sorry for my English XD
You need to pull your human units away from the buildings that shoot arrows, just use your catapults for those and use the human units to attack villagers and protect catapults.
Much more? Such as? AoE 4 focuses on bringing variety to the old AoE 2 formula. Each civilization has its own playstyle and a lot of units have multiple 'modes' (longbowmen can place down anti cavalry stakes, knights have lances that they will charge with, hell I'm seeing melee units set fire to buildings). You can have units on walls, too, so sieges can get pretty interesting Even visually, I believe it's a new engine
I still prefer the unit movement and attacking animation inAOE2, it is much more precise which makes the very essential part of the game play: Microing. I doubt if we can see the fun 1v1 magonel war or the mind game when a group of archers try to dodge mogonel's shot
I dislike micromanagement. I would like to see more emphasis on strategy. Ofc a game can not please all, so I hope the devs focus on one interest group and make them happy. If Aoe4 was stuck somewhere in the middle, it will risk that nobody is pleased.
“Let’s produce a couple longbowmen for self-defense.” Proceeds to immediately harass the other player’s economy. Are you sure you aren’t playing as the Americans?
One critique that I have about the animations is that the villagers look like they are working in slow motion, especially when chopping wood. It looks weird.
It's basically aoe 2 and 3 in combination, the XP and card system removed and bringing back fan favorite from aoe 2. Hopefully there will be another suprise
I would preffer bigger maps.I think by this [point/years passed they could advance/expand/iprove the engine to be able to easly handlebigger maps cbs sometimes i just want like long play and try to see how much i can grow and have massive armies slogfest :P
Aoe 4 looks fine. But i really do need to get a new pc first with better graphic card and ram because last time my laptop hanged when i played aoe 3 de.
A pity they didn't incorporate chinese Ji spear unit shape of L spear. A all in one spear unit that deals with chivalry and shield footman, that is responsible for winning most battles in china.
They're speaking Old English (very much Anglo-Saxon German) to, I think, early Middle English. As Mickael said, it changes with the progression of the ages.
Yes well...intermediate was kind of lame wasn't it? Haven't had time anymore for another round today so tomorrow you'll see some hard and extreme difficulty for AIs! Hope you still enjoyed the very first skirmish! Cheers
Lets go 1v1 and I give you some level xD
Now i know why Nivarias have an easy ride this time 😂😂
The most one-sided battle between Britain and china since the 2nd opium war. :)
nice ing work tupid devs u make most powerful in game are europe factions then u make very less powerful are asia even gun powder did started from asia factions..

I kinda wish they would have kept how fallen units would turn into skeletons overtime like back in age of empires 2
The "Technical Stress Test" is the new DVD icon you are waiting for to hit the corner
I really do like how it generates random ornaments around buildings
yeah its awesome, definitly makes everyhting feel more connected
Where?
@@gunsparkles313 the plants and paths
@@Advicesquad yep 👍
I always want to build more realistic and detailed "town" when playing AOE, this looks good to me
I really love the atmosphere of the game, sound fx, soundtrack is top notch work! Really reminded me or Stronghold 1 when I tried the beta.
wow I started play Age of Empire since 1998 and till now 2021 for me this game is best of the best. its happy to see one more new game of this series coming :)
best of the best still AOE 2 :))
Can you keep posting loads of this please? Thanks in advance if you do!
Different Civs too!
i really hope i can disable win conditions in the game like the sacred sites or the wonder construction.

Play total war. Disclaimer don’t blame for your future addiction.
Aoe/empire earth/ age of mythology are pretty fun also.
same, I never play AoE too, the only RTS game type like this I play is Command & Conquer Generals, it's similar and cool too, but it's less complicated compared to AoE
22:36- first time seeing onagers get some kills. Orgasmic.
I am a die hard fan of this series, I really hope you continue to post this every now and then when it comes out. Obviously at a harder difficulty though, I hope the hardest isn’t easygoing tbh though.
The game looks awesome! But i cant stand the church bell everytime you klick the home base lol
really nice video...your voice is so calm and friendly...keep it up!

Are the thumbnails so bad? I got good click ratings actually :D
Looks great, that Town Center bell though is quite grating
I love how the sheep now follows you.
I like how much you post it always puts a smile on my face when you post a video. Edit:did not know niv was so good at aoe does that mean theres a possibility you record this when it comes out officially?
This is awesome! Next time please explore the naval units :)
Plot twist :This game is like the trailers of strategy mobile games
Minor nitpick, but I really had hoped that technology in video games had improved enough so we would no longer get self driving catapults
they tried that in aoe3, but they looked too clumsy when not totally zoomed in.
It's not about technology. Even back in AoE they could have programmed a mechanic that requires catapults to be driven by units. But they didn't implement it then, and they don't implement it now, because it's not fun. Making games isn't about striving for what's the most true to life. The also had unit driven catapults in Battle of Middleearth
Agree, I loved how they made every single siege unit in AOEIII controled by an soldier I'm very disapointed by they did not keep that in this game.
Game looks super awesome thanks for sharing! My only gripe is that damn town center bell...Everytime you click the town center that Bell is way too loud and obnoxious. Sounds like an alarm bell like you're rallying the workers lol they need to fix that!!!
So beautiful so well done. Thank you for showing us how this game is truly
anyone notice @16:43 the archers attempt to push in closed formation and get charged by cavalry actively disrupting that formation. just a nice bit of unit mechanics
add other things you enjoyed about the game play please
i wish the scout can do scouting by himself 😀
cant wait u play it full access
I forgot this game was coming out
Great gameplay!
Hope you can turn that bell off on town centre xD
Was looking for this comment. OMG that was so annoying.
Very much this.
DING DING
The bell wasn't there in the closed beta. It'll likely be changed by launch, given the feedback.
Age of Empires 2 is the ultimate Medieval Age game. This AOE4 must be really good and bold to bring the medieval era again.
This is exactly how i remember it from years ago but now with better graphics ...... and a 42" screen. Bliss.
Couldn't MS just have put a static "Technical Stress Test" text in the corner of the screen. That text is driving me crazy.
Anyway thanks for the video man.
Hope to see the AOE4 campaign from you when the game comes out. And you should play it on higher difficulty becouse the AI was so passive, like it tried to do the turtle strategy but instead of the real turtle it just built walls without any towers or anything and spread out a lot
wow, they even had a road when new building, build
I love old englisch. As a german it Sounds just so familiar. (And cool) :D
Any similarity between the miniature of the video and the final result, pure coincidence.
Unit collisions look weird ... i see them catapults stacking on top of / overlapping each other.
This looks like fun.
Idk why i am still standing with AOE 2 and AOM.
Why are the units so big?
I used to play stronghold it was my childhood game haha
Great gameplay
Finally age of empires 4
Finally they have finished building a wonder
I've always wondered if you could produce a special unit that could navigate through the woods. That would be interesting, the woods shouldn't count as a wall.
Childhood love AOE ❤️
This is why I invested in a gaming pc
The AI in the original AoE was so aggressive
The old games had way more units I wish they could recreate that
I mean if they had made the units smaller in comparison to the buildings they probably could of had more, but the director was being annoying so here we are.
The graphics are on fire ..😍
Catapult can attac your units? like in aoe2 ?
You may have just sold on buying this game. I love the fact that you can play the Eastern Empires
damn its so good ---old times(((((
It's like previously aeo games like Aeo 2 just with good graphics.
If you like this game maybe you should play Ancestors Legacy. It have one of the best style of gameplay and combat I ever seen, capable of give difficulty even on you.

How did you feel about the UI? I wasn't the biggest fan as I felt it wasn't nearly as readable as it was in past games.
I do like it! A more medieval looking UI would be more immersive but I also like the modern style. Have no problems reading stuff
It looks good but I'm disappointed that after all these years the engine is still pretty much the same. Was hoping for much more.
Also, that bell is really annoying. Can it be turned down on its own ?
Much more? Such as?

there isn't much scope to the empire building rts genre without delving into other genres or risk being too heavy to run multiplayer.
@@IzitAllGoUnder The bell wasn't there in the closed beta. It'll likely be changed by launch, given the feedback.
I think you have the wrong idea of "mechanics = engine" and that's not the case.
The overall gameplay of it remind me of empire earth gameplay old time ago 😂
Happy to know that they didnt destroy the franchise like my fav old game stronghold
Stronghold crusader 2 was really good. I've been playing that recently.
BIG LIKE BRO. NICE NATO VS CHINA =))))))))))))))))))))))))
AI: I thought it was a peaceful game
I still prefer the unit movement and attacking animation inAOE2, it is much more precise which makes the very essential part of the game play: Microing. I doubt if we can see the fun 1v1 magonel war or the mind game when a group of archers try to dodge mogonel's shot

currently only rts worth playing are total war and starcraft so i hope this game is decent if only for the genre. looks decent tho
Great
Geil! Was training on aoe2 de multilayer?
Hey how did you do a 1v1 against the AI I can't seam to find the option 😂
it's 2021! the graphic looks like in 90s
“Let’s produce a couple longbowmen for self-defense.” Proceeds to immediately harass the other player’s economy.
Are you sure you aren’t playing as the Americans?
Looks like the enemy needs some Democracy
This is obviously just variant 2.0 of Age Of Empires II.😁 But a really nice one though!💖💖
oke you convinced me i pre order it haha the delux editiom but need to wait. til 28 okt 2021
Its an open beta
@@Gustavocavazos yeah i know but it´s not the full game yet indeed it´s comming on 28 okt here. can´t wait for that

I see that as well.

Good to see you beat the covid
I must be so terrible at this game, i lost on easy lol i'll keep trying!
The commentary went without a pause or a break for the first 2:24. My guy, pausing is refreshing
why are the english not called angle-saxons? and if there are english do we get danish/viking too later on?
It looks like the first Age of Empires had more pop limit than this.
We want at least 1,000
I've never played the English in AoE2. Were the voice overs in old English in that game to? I honestly wasn't expecting that.
In AoE2 it was old English. In AoE4 the language advances as you age up so it becomes more modern over time
Iamgrunt would be so proud
Now I can build walls and fill them with archers to create an impregnable defense like Stronghold legends?..
The aoe mobile game from years ago had that. I figured this would too. Pretty cool. Can't wait to put archers everywhere
I would preffer bigger maps.I think by this [point/years passed they could advance/expand/iprove the engine to be able to easly handlebigger maps cbs sometimes i just want like long play and try to see how much i can grow and have massive armies slogfest :P
Same! I don't want a population cap either.
So it still cannot view 360 degrees like total war, can it?
We need blood and gore in the game. Like they made it PG rating. Hopefully they still have the blood option
how do you turn this on
what relict gives to you ?
Is there a map editor??? Someone please lmk
If only the icons of the units were more lively and colorful sigh
Same for techs and buildings, I really hope they get rid of the minimalist UI and add proprer icons
wow
Not an exciting game, yes, but still an interesting demonstration of aoe4
I had no idea how it would be compared to its predecessors
Yeah i agree
Aoe 4 looks fine. But i really do need to get a new pc first with better graphic card and ram because last time my laptop hanged when i played aoe 3 de.

at last stop hitting a wall with a sword then that wall start catching fires.use siege engines instead
Kinda sucks that the catapults still move and fire without operators.
i cant wait to play this game!!!!
now all we need now is AOM2
Uh, do the English units speak old English or is it some other language entirely?
I think language changes with ages.
They're speaking Old English (very much Anglo-Saxon German) to, I think, early Middle English. As Mickael said, it changes with the progression of the ages.
What a nice touch! Thanks fellas
