You can. In the match making setup, there were options to enable/disable whichever win condition you like. So I switched off Wonder & Sacred site victory conditions for longer games but left the 'Destroy all enemy landmarks' victory enabled to have some way of winning
wow I started play Age of Empire since 1998 and till now 2021 for me this game is best of the best. its happy to see one more new game of this series coming :)
I’ve never played AOE (just grew up on consoles and only recently got into strategy games) but oh my god this looks like so much fun. The constant management of so many different things, and the advancement and combat just all comes together so seamlessly
same, I never play AoE too, the only RTS game type like this I play is Command & Conquer Generals, it's similar and cool too, but it's less complicated compared to AoE
It's not about technology. Even back in AoE they could have programmed a mechanic that requires catapults to be driven by units. But they didn't implement it then, and they don't implement it now, because it's not fun. Making games isn't about striving for what's the most true to life. It's about finding a balance between fun and realism. While pulled catapults may look cool, they don't necessarily make for good gameplay. QA and playtesting will have confirmed that self-driving catapults is the best way to implement the mechanic.
anyone notice @16:43 the archers attempt to push in closed formation and get charged by cavalry actively disrupting that formation. just a nice bit of unit mechanics add other things you enjoyed about the game play please
I mean if they had made the units smaller in comparison to the buildings they probably could of had more, but the director was being annoying so here we are.
Game looks super awesome thanks for sharing! My only gripe is that damn town center bell...Everytime you click the town center that Bell is way too loud and obnoxious. Sounds like an alarm bell like you're rallying the workers lol they need to fix that!!!
You can shift click on the mills and other building to quickly add farms around it! Great video, at first I didn't like the game at all because of the crazy bad marketing campaign and some bad first looks/animations. But to be honest I am starting to like the game more and more because of these videos! You guys are carrying the developers so hard, keep it up!
I like how much you post it always puts a smile on my face when you post a video. Edit:did not know niv was so good at aoe does that mean theres a possibility you record this when it comes out officially?
Couldn't MS just have put a static "Technical Stress Test" text in the corner of the screen. That text is driving me crazy. Anyway thanks for the video man.
Much more? Such as? AoE 4 focuses on bringing variety to the old AoE 2 formula. Each civilization has its own playstyle and a lot of units have multiple 'modes' (longbowmen can place down anti cavalry stakes, knights have lances that they will charge with, hell I'm seeing melee units set fire to buildings). You can have units on walls, too, so sieges can get pretty interesting Even visually, I believe it's a new engine
Very nice man. Keep it coming. I know the beta is off but start thinking of some ideas for mindblowing thumbnails etc. Your channel is going to blow up :)
One critique that I have about the animations is that the villagers look like they are working in slow motion, especially when chopping wood. It looks weird.
“Let’s produce a couple longbowmen for self-defense.” Proceeds to immediately harass the other player’s economy. Are you sure you aren’t playing as the Americans?
I still prefer the unit movement and attacking animation inAOE2, it is much more precise which makes the very essential part of the game play: Microing. I doubt if we can see the fun 1v1 magonel war or the mind game when a group of archers try to dodge mogonel's shot
I dislike micromanagement. I would like to see more emphasis on strategy. Ofc a game can not please all, so I hope the devs focus on one interest group and make them happy. If Aoe4 was stuck somewhere in the middle, it will risk that nobody is pleased.
You need to pull your human units away from the buildings that shoot arrows, just use your catapults for those and use the human units to attack villagers and protect catapults.
I've always wondered if you could produce a special unit that could navigate through the woods. That would be interesting, the woods shouldn't count as a wall.
Hope to see the AOE4 campaign from you when the game comes out. And you should play it on higher difficulty becouse the AI was so passive, like it tried to do the turtle strategy but instead of the real turtle it just built walls without any towers or anything and spread out a lot
They're speaking Old English (very much Anglo-Saxon German) to, I think, early Middle English. As Mickael said, it changes with the progression of the ages.

Minor nitpick, but I really had hoped that technology in video games had improved enough so we would no longer get self driving catapults
they tried that in aoe3, but they looked too clumsy when not totally zoomed in.

Idk why i am still standing with AOE 2 and AOM.

Hope you can turn that bell off on town centre xD
Was looking for this comment. OMG that was so annoying.

Stronghold crusader 2 was really good. I've been playing that recently.
Age of Empires 2 is the ultimate Medieval Age game. This AOE4 must be really good and bold to bring the medieval era again.
