Those same hooks come on the stunnas absolute fire bait btw and are defiantly high quality hooks far better than the mustard or gammies I was using one of the best products berkley makes
I love hearing that from a young man. You can't reel that bait fast enough to take it away from a bass. I love running deep Crank baits in shallow structure. You have to feel the structure. I don't compete. I just eat fish any time I want to.
I’m hoping this “dialed in” series will continue! Great info and technique specific videos are always great especially when they’re 15 mins long. Lots of good tips
Great information on deep cranking I’m definitely not the best at it so hopefully I can take this and become a lot better offshore fisherman because I’ve always struggled with it.
Great video great tips and props to the Dredger. They've been catching us a lot of fish for the past few years. I'm old and have a bad back and most of my fishing nowadays is for pure pleasure and I troll when I have to lol. I completely understand what you're saying about the fusion hooks but there are drawbacks. I catch very large bass in deep water reservoirs out west and because those hooks are so rigid for small gauge wire I've broken them right at the weld on big bass on more than one occasion. If you've got something in that 8 to 12 lb range down there deep I really recommend 2x and 3x treble hooks. I run awg's on the belly and round bends on the tail.
You can not reel fast enough with a 5:4:1... If you're burning as fast as you can and a monster eats it and comes running straight toward you, where do you go from there? You're already telling as fast as you can??
michael shoffner you will from time to time for sure. If there is a ton of stumps or debris I wouldn’t suggest long lining, most of the bottom on the Tennessee river is smooth because the current washes it out.
I’ve seen small local tournament rules that don’t allow long lining or dragging. I understand no trolling but why no long line or dragging? It’s a technique just like anything else.
Justin Atkins no shade thrown. Different strokes for different folks. Just clownin around man. Let’s see another back to back championship and go get the cup again!
Thanks Justin. I have the Ike Delay Jerkbait rod and love the feel but I wasn't sure that the 7'10" would be stout enough for a 10XD or a crank that big with that rating.
Mike Adams yes it would be perfect for anything like a 10xd or other Super deep divers. When the 10xd came out a lot of companies came out with big stiff cranking rods to make the bait easier to cast but that causes a lot of fish to jump off. It felt like it casted that big bait good but it didn’t have the correct action for fighting fish on trebles. A little adjustment in your casting form to allow the rod to load up and you can throw a huge plug a long ways and it won’t work you near as hard as those stiffer rods and you won’t lose near as many fish.
Thanks for all the info, Justin.....The Ike Series rod that I use for Jerk baits is great. I love the feel of a glass rod with Trebles. I will check out that Villian 2.0 for sure.

This is the quality of video we all appreciate so much. Can't think of anything it didn't cover. Hope to see more from Justin.

This was so informative and I have to say he covered everything in great detail. Awesome video and best of luck to you on the tour as well !
Actually, the more full the spool the LESS cranking power you have, not more... but the more speed you get.
Wow he explained so many things I wanted to know. Great info! Saving this video
love videos like this.

how to you avoid getting hung up on stuff on the bottom if you are running that deep?

Josh Stubinski thank you sir !!
Thanks from Idahoo"
can you tell he's sponsored by pure fishing , lol.
🤙🏻🎣
Question about that Rod....It's only rated for a 1 oz lure max. Isn't it a little light for the Dredger 25.5?
Mike Adams no not at all. That’s just a general ballpark. I wouldn’t be scared to throw an A Rig on that rod

Mike Adams some of their shorter actions in the delay series are really light. For a jerkbait I love the villain 2.0 in a 6’10” medium light.
