This reminds me of a time when my friends from high school and I had a late night cypher that woke my dad up. He busted through the door wearing only whitey tighties to break up a fight. Hip-hop has always been about busting each other's balls and that's great fun but it's also so much more than that. We can't let the ignorant dictate the trajectory of rap's future. It's a beautiful thing really, coming out of the grimey streets to become what it is today. Rap has come this far because of it's connection to the people who are really just living the grind and making the best of what they got. That connection is the soul of rap and losing it would be tragic but I have faith because of Crook and many others who will continue to pump blood through the streets and keep the heart of rap beating strong.
One of the only people on this platform that I really trust with their opinion on this thing we all love called Hip Hop. Respect!!

Marshall is too humble & I have heard him do nothing but pay homage to those that came before him. He's never bragged about how good of an MC he is. We already know that you & Marshall & Joel are at the top of my greatest MC's. I agree hiphop is being hijacked.

I'm old enough to remember when Em first came out, and they were hating on him from the start. He's never going to escape this for as long as he's alive. I agree this narrative is tired and so sad at this point in his career. He's proven a million times over that he belongs in hip hop. He wasn't a one hit wonder, so he deserves more respect than he's been getting lately, and it does seem like ever since 2017, he's been getting so much hatred. I get that Revival wasn't a fan favorite, but I don't believe it deserved to bring about such hate. I honestly commended him for dropping Kamikaze because they were coming after him left and right, and that album to me was pure hip hop. He had to, but it's true that you can't just keep coming after everybody that says shit against you, but every man has a breaking point, and I think Kamikaze was his breaking point. Also, his last two projects were good, so I don't understand why people say he's fallen off. Hip hop is just very weird right now, Crook!
Also, there seems to be a lot of trying to rewrite history when it comes to Em too. I keep hearing that now people are saying that Em didn't body Jay Z when clearly that was the absolute consensus at that time. Everyone and I mean everyone was saying Em did his thing on that track. Now people seem to be trying to go back on that. So weird right now! When and why did hip hop get so weird, Crook?

To me the question is how do we save rap. At the end of the day its harder than ever for a real mc to make it. Most rap fans these days are kids who like lil pump or lil xan guys who think tupac is boring. So take the corruption out of the business take attention off of the powers that be that get to rig the system. The shit that sells to these kids today isnt real hip hop as we know it. Its whats trendy who can fuck with autotune on a pop ass trap beat. How do you change the mindset of the consumer to get them to realise this bullshit today isnt what rap is supposed to be. How do you bring wisdom and knowledge, song structure, different flows and deep witty lyrics to kids who dont want that? Its a difficult task i think it might take a generation or 2 personally but maybe thats a cynical view.
