Upwards and onwards to the next project , this has been a good project to watch. The back window reminds me of the Jenson Interceptor and the Reliant Scimitar .

Cars are meant to be driven. No need for full restoration just solve the safety and mechanical problems and use it or sell it or even junk it...

Hello again. I have previously commented in the thread where I wrote, among other things, that 924 was galvanized from 1982 and is therefore reasonably resistant to rust. Regarding the problem of a hot engine being difficult to start, this, as you point out, is a known problem. However, the 924 Turbo (931) does not have this problem) and of course neither does the 924S which has a 944 engine and I know there were solutions to the problem on the 924 as well. I had the pleasure of having a 1977 924 in the period 1985-1988 before I bought a 1985 944 in 1988. My 924 had the starting problem when the engine was hot, but it rarely showed up. I really enjoyed my 924 even if the chassis, as you point out, deserved a stronger engine (this was resolved with the 924 Turbo and 924S). The 924 has a fabulous balance while being light (early versions weigh under 1100 Kg) and the car is quite simply a fine sports car. It's a pitty that the 924 has never really been recognized for this. Snobbery with various Porsche models sometimes makes no sense. The simplest models are often the best (eg Cayman vs 911 and Macan vs Cayenne).

Mk1 106 rallye is a brilliant little car, hope you find one. For me, the best hot hatch of that era was the V6 clio but you won't get one of those cheap.
Enjoyed the journey with this Porsche.

I note some nasty cracks in the curved rubber F.I. connector hoses at the front of the engine. Failure there could result in a fiery finish. Just a mention. I hope you make a good deal and find something interesting.

My dad had the same rear window delamination problem with his 944 about 30 years ago. Somehow….a stray golf club broke the rear window😮 and insurance paid for a replacement. Oops!

I think if you liked that, you need something like a Reliant Scimitar with the UK's "muscle engine" the Essex 3.0 V6 which earned the Scimi's the nickname "poor mans Jensen", avoid any with a Rover V8 put in the hole as they are very oversteery due to the increased weight mass up front but any Essex or Cologne V6 motor in there like a Cossie 2.9 injection 32v would be phenomenal. I read a chap had taken the engine and box, electronics from a Ford Scorpio (new shape) Ultima which was just about the best Cosworth engine coupled with a very intelligent smart gearbox and put it in his Scimitar and is now possibly the fastest Reliant Scimitar around the world with sub 10s 0-60 and easily a ton and half or more top end. If you wanted even more powah, the South American's had a 4 litre Cologne V6 which with some engineering and surgery could be modified to take the 32v Cossie heads although bearings main and big end would need beefing up...

See this is what I don't get with the Yanks, Ford UK and Germany put together a modified XR4i for America known there as the XR4Ti, had full RS bodykit including whale tail, Recaro RS interior as used on the Cosworths, big fat alloys, an injection Cologne 2.8 V6 and an uprated Type 9 5 speed gearbox plus electric windows, tiltable steering wheel, variable rate PAS, ABS, limited slip diff a 150mph easy out the box beast... America says nyet to it like the said nyet to the MK3 Granada, even the 32v 2.9 injection monster motor with the full RS kit, Connolly leather interior, PAS, ABS on all disc rotors fore and aft, easily 150mph and get there really quickly and certainly leave any cop cars in the dust... Yet they wet their knickers over a Fox body which for all intents and purposes was a Ford UK MK3 Escort body and trappings... madness :( One of my mates who owns an M BMW was saying about how good it was and I said give me a grand I will find something that would destroy that, so he asks and I said BMW 750iL with the full under the bonnet Alpina modifications... 196mph by the book my mate was not happy with that having paid a LOT of money for his M class Beemer...

The rover v8 weighs a lot less than the boat anchor v6 fords.

@@dodgydruidThe xr4ti did not have a v6 engine, you maybe should do some research before posting ,as both comments are rather inaccurate.32v heads is another piece of nonsense.
