The great thing about the Blazin moves is that the rappers gave their input on what the moves should look like which is awesome because it definitely shows off their personalities and stage personas.
I agree; it's very awesome, and I think out of all the ones I saw my personal favorites were(in no particular order): Doc(you know , the dude with the best intro who clearly may or may not be Redman from the Wu-Tang Clan, but I can't be too sure on that), Ludacris, Prodigy, Sean Paul, David Banner, Ghostface Killah, Crazy Legs, Slick Rick, Ice-T, Lil' Flip, Lil' Kim, Dan G(the dude with the spin kick he uses on that guy House), and while I don't know every single rapper in the game, mostly everyone here had an amazing Blazin Move, straight out of a wrestling game, or even a Street Fighter game. Even some of the more whack looking Blazin Moves didn't feel or look awful, and I felt the impacts were really on point. Damn, I wish I'd gotten to play this game back in the day, because I was a fan of some of these rappers in the game, and still am, but I would've loved to play as some of these guys and beat the absolute crap out them especially with Ghostface Killah's Blazin Move. Too bad these moves don't have individual names, because I'd love to hear and see what the names would be. But that's legitimately great that literally each rapper in game had gave their input on what the moves should look like; even if some of them were whack, like House's, which is the whackest Blazin Move ever. His is just a submission choke. I know he's a big dude, but still, that was whack, and it looked weak. Glad to know that Ghostface wanted his Blazin to be him spinning someone around, breaking them over his back, and then, suplexing them back down. That was just awesome. And it's also awesome, how Sean Paul wanted to kick someone several times in the air, spin around, and then end it with a leg drop on their gut, because I liked it a lot. And I don't even like Sean Paul, honestly. But even if I don't like or even know who most of these rappers are, it's nice to see that a lot of them have sick finishers, with amazing impacts. I really wish I could've played this game when it came out, it still looks GREAT; for a GCN/PS2/Xbox era game, I mean that in a good way, no sarcasm here. I just wish I didn't start playing this series with Icon, the one game in this series that we don't talk about here because it was so bad, it killed the Def Jam games. Which is a shame; these Blazin Moves were awesome and I'd have loved to been able to play a 4th game on the Switch somehow. Or even if they were somehow able to port Def Jam: Fight For NY to the Switch, or it's sequel, Vendetta, which people really hated for some reason. Either way, the Blazin Moves were some of the sickest moves I've ever seen in any fighting game; and knowing that rappers like Ludacris wanted his Blazin Move to be him springboarding off you, and then, while still in the air, elbow dropping you, right in the face, that's awesome, and also, it's insane, but in all the right ways. But if I had to rank my own personal Top 12 Blazin Moves in the game, I'd definitely go with: 1st: Ghostface Killah 2nd: Doc 3rd: Ludacris 4th: Lil' Flip 5th: Ice-T 6th: Sean Paul 7th: Prodigy 8th: Dan G 9th: Crazy Legs 10th: Lil' Kim 11th: Slick Rick 12th: David Banner. But those are just my own opinions on which Blazin Moves I thought looked the best. Honorable Mentions to: Scarface(the dude who's Blazin went before Sean Paul's), Xzibit, Bonecrusher, W.C., Magic, Crow(Snoop Dogg), and to Warren G; for having some cool Blazin Moves as well. Sorry if this seemed like it went on forever. But I just really love this game, and rap as a genre. You just rarely, if ever; get to see an amazing game like this come along. It's special to be able to have had a game like this come along, and either hear about it, or play it and see how awesome it is for yourself. To add context to C.O.M.P's The Man With The Hand (the one where he says he's eating a bunch of doritos). C.O.M.P actually has a deformed hand but the implication is that he's choking you out with said hand. C.O.M.P is an actually rapper and one his bodies of work is named The Man With The Hand. The move makes more sense on a custom character.
Missed opportunity calling it Rate the Blazin'. But still, thank you for playing this and glad you enjoyed it. This game was great and a blast to play at parties!
Blaze's and Nyne's were way better in Vendetta. Blaze did basically a backbreaker into an inverted F5, while Nyne jumped into the air, holding the guy with his legs, did a backflip and landing with a Pedigree
This issue with nyne is that there is no build up to that pedigree and in my opinion it doesn't fit him. I do still think it should of made it into the game.

30, if you are combining 3 styles, and 20, if you're combining 2 styles.

@@MrWolfchamp-xi3cu honestly different directions are fine. I'd be more upset if they produced a clone but they completely scrapped the original formula. Personally didn't like vendetta because it's a wrestling game with rapper costumes and icon was not a fighting game. Movement was like wading through tar and you honestly won if your song was playing because the buff was that strong. If they kept the formula and tweaked some things in a new direction, would've been great
try it on pcsx2 emulator.
8:55 That freeze frame of bonecrusher's face absolutely killed me
YOU WILL BE DESTROYED
Hog Rider Goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Bonecrusher gave a "I am your worst nightmare" vibe.
the face you see right before he plows you
Reminds me of that meme with the dude flying chasing another dude down the school hallway
Fat Joe's finish is 10/10 if you initiate it at the right angle because it freeze frames the terror on the opponent's face as he swings him before the bearhug backbreaker.
I can imagine that as brutal Honda moves if he's in Final Fight Streetwise
Agreed. Outmuscling a guy for a takedown, then divorcing him from the ground to eventually shatter his spine? 😚👌 Excellent.
And let’s not forget it was the bane of every who play this games existence 😂😂
@@Beneben20 Right. Not only that, you would usually take 2 pedigrees in a row beforehand and that does just as much damage as the blazin finish.
The Max falling in love with Def Jam Arc is definitely one if my favourites
he should do Vendetta next
AND BASH ICON
@@RGF91 We just don’t speak of Icon
Max giving the WC crip walk a 12/10 is peak!
When playing with friends we had only one rule; "Crow is banned." Mf was too fast and most dudes would spend all day and night countering then ending the fight with his busted haymaker. I was most dudes lol
Hated fighting Crow in this game.
Okay, so if FFNY ever gets a chance at any tournaments, you gotta speak up and tell everyone that Crow is banned.
@@thedredayshow9246 DJFFNY does have tournaments, with tier lists and banned characters and all that stuff.
@@thedredayshow9246 there’s tournaments yeah, they even have a tier list with a ‘banned’ tier in there

I find the concept of DefJam so interesting. Just pick a bunch of rappers and pop stars and have them duke it out with unique fighting styles and crazy moves
One of my all time favorite child hood games! Truly underrated masterpiece! So glad you did a Rate The Super on this! Keep up the good work Max!
Could not have said it better myself
Definitely not underrated. damn nair everybody in my hood played this game.
@@ultraunique3476 criminally underrated
He definitely needs to rate the supers in vendetta because there were definitely alot of 10/10 supers in that game
I've been quoting Redmans intro since childhood, easily one of the best fighting game dialogues ever
That intro came from, I wanna say, blue steel. It was Dave Chappelle's linr
The moment the notification popped up, i understood the meaning of the phrase "this is something i didn't know i needed".
Thanks so fucking much Max.
This game is LEGENDARY! I wish there wasn't so much red tape in the industry because if they remade this for newer systems and updated rosters it would be a HIT!
One of the cool thing about this games supers is that theirs a video of the devs asking the rappers what they would want their supers to be .
I never thought I'd see the day where Max makes a "Rate the Super" for this game, but I'm glad he did.
The fact you gave Redmans intro a 10/10 is scary because in my top 10 video I said the same thing😂
My top 3 favorite blazin finishers in FFNY
1)Ghostface
2) Dan G
3) scarface
Honorable mentions
Sean Paul
Crazy legs
Pogo stick finisher
Jumprope finisher
@@707zacbuster Dan G has the best one IMO.
It's like a souped version of Crazy Legs'
9/10 you dyslexic
That crip walk into the finger in the eyes fuckin killed me😂😂😂
Yep WC’s was way too good I loved it
I preferred his front blazin from dj vendetta more but its a good blazin for sure. Cracks me up
Ive never regretted getting rid of a game more than this. Fucking 300 bucks now
I got mine for GC at the time for $31 and Malee for $50
I regret not playing it at all. I dismissed it because of the rap aesthetic. It was around the time I stopped listening to rap and get into rock and metal.
i play it on my pcsx2 emulator and works perfectly fine
@@PvEGamingChannel as someone who also has a pcsx2 emulator this makes me happy since I was scared to emulate it in case it didn’t work

2:22 gotta give it more credit, 7/10 because if you catch the perfect grab the camera pans and you can see actual terror in the eyes of the poor fool, not all supers got that
Wrong arena completely
He needs to see it in Club Murder
It's in my top ten just because of the expression of terror on your face!
Who remember that video of Aris getting destroyed by Crow for almost a hour? Literally had tears in my eyes watching him struggle 🤣
That was my favourite playthrough of his. Pure entertainment.
I wish his playthrough gets uploaded somewhere. RUclips only has some highlights
Remember when danny trejo called him a " pendejo " 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Him and crack were hard as hell man i felt his pain
This, Asura's Wrath, and MGR are getting a resurgence recently and I'm up for it. Only one left is God Hand and we get the full package. Hope we get more of these OTT games.
this game is honestly all but unmatched when it comes to presentation. i've never played this game and honestly i really should but good lord does this game know what it is and what its players wanna see.
Sad part is some rappers thought it was wack because it was wrestling
@@princemwamba5230 it's not even just wrestling though. There's like 5 different fighting styles and you can mix and match to create a whole new style. This games fighting mechanics are underrated.
@@SolidSnake240 oh i know im just saying
@@SolidSnake240 in all fairness the first 1 is a straight up wrestling game. So when this one is getting made they were like "I ain't gonna be in a wrestling game" because that was the reputation for the series at the time.
@@princemwamba5230 This is not a wrestling game. Vendetta is. This is a fighting game that happens to have wrestling in it.
The comp special is a mandible claw basically. Comp is from Baltimore and he was born with 2 fingers on one of his hands resembling a claw. He used to be called the baltimore claw..
After all these year's of watching max i never thought I would see max rate the supers on this game 🤣
Fax man 😂
@nemo pouncey R.I.P. Baby Chris
@nemo pouncey DMX was a beast in the first game! R.I.P. indeed😢
Why's that?
"This is like 'you're now carrying my child' super!"
Fucking dying laughing at that.
There's no game I've played more than this, it still kicks ass 18 years later
The fighting in this game is really something special loved all the interactivity with the arenas you could fight in and some of those finishers are absolutely brutal. Manny's still probably being a good favorite of mine along with Ghostface's and Dan G's. The ladies have some pretty good ones to as well.
Matt McMuscles would have been very disappointed if you gave Bless’ finisher anything higher than a three.
No no my guy if you were a real one you would know that the rage was a well-known character in that lore

Mad respect to Max for doing this video. PS2s library is absolutely legendary, maybe we will see this on the PlayStations game pass🙏🏿
True. As expected of best selling consoles of all time
This game is part of the rotation whenever my friends come over for a Vs. night. A real classic right here that’s for sure.
This game issa certified HOOD CLASSIC
I think I can say with no hesitation that Ice-T has the most brutal win quote ever uttered in a fighting game, ever. Max's reaction to hearing it for the first time on stream was absolutely glorious.
It's really something for him to insult someone's mother AND father, individually. That's just personal to a weird degree.
That quote made a lotta kids including myself jaws drop we replayed that fight to defend our mommas honor
@@AHappyBlackGuyon god 😂 this game is classic
That line led to the first time I got caught playing an M rated game 😂 my neighbor brought it over and we were playing in the garage and my dad came out just as he said it and immediately turned around 😂😂
So glad you did this, some great supers here that feel realistic... which makes them all the more intense to watch!
16:40 this gets a 10/10 from me for the brutality of it. also its perfect for "Stop, hes already dead!"
22:00 and this one gets a 10/10 for what feel like max disrespect with flair.
edit: 34:22 actually i think turning your opponent into a fucking jump rope is some max disrespect.
edit2: 35:50 what the actual fuck
I love this game. I had this on the PS2. And those blazin moves? So great.
21:53 This dude really had a Beyblade fight as his super, that's fucking amazing lmao
I just love that snoop was like “ima scream during mine”
35:19 This super was always my favorite just because of the fact that it captures the charismatic charm but also each move he does is super hard hitting.
"You're now carrying my child" Super is definetly a 10/10 name
Oh god the one where he literally uses his opponent like a pogo stick just made me die laughing! so good.
Ghostface Killa, Round the world into a torture rack into a high angle backdrop.....better get a 10!!!
My brother and I used to play this game so much. Seeing how well it's aged makes me nostalgic for those days of constantly replaying the campaign, trying and mixing all the fighting styles, and quoting Sean Paul at each other because neither of us understood him. Good times.
I'm am SO happy this game us finally (I feel) getting recognized. It is one of my favorite fighting/wrestling games with a great story, refined gameplay mechanics and os fun as hell. I remember I used to recommend this game to all of my friends and everyone who played it was like omg this is awesome!! Glad you got to play through it Max and enjoy it. Cannot wait to see the stream on youtube
all the games that used that thq n64 pro wrestling game models were the best! i always wanted a side scrolling beat em up with this control scheme. the was a smackdown vs raw game that kinda made one and then urban reign was sorta like it.
@@nickfry7839 urban reign was pretty dope too
This game alone better than 92% of the fighting games out currently 🤷 they don't make fun games like this anymore 😂 this game was hilariously fun
It was also 4 player
If this series ever comes back, Hannibal Buress (due to the Morpheus rap, he's a lyrical genius) needs to show up and do the Iconic Kick to Flavor Flav.
And he comes out in a death basket.
Imagine his super throws your ass in a death basket while drinking a 40
8:57 Bonecrusher step over the body is a nod to this little step he used to do in videos and performing.
Never imagined Max would do this, but i really glad he did. This game is so much fun.

Can we agree that crow’s victory line is the most simplistic but the most badass thing we’ve ever heard
Loved this game.
Never understood that it was a wrestling game until years later in my life.
Started liking specific wrestling games like that thanks to it.
I’ve been so desperate to get this re-released! The memories I have from this game with my brother back in the day can’t be beat! So dope
Have to get rights from all the artist and labels it would be a hassle from that alone
I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE A RATE THE SUPER THIS GAME!!!! THE NOSTALGIA!!!
This game might be the definition of a hidden gem - who in the world would ever expect the licensed rapper fighting game to be any good? But it’s REALLY good. Me and my friends played it a ton in high school. Happy to see it getting some spotlight from a major streamer
I never thought I’ll see the day Max reacts to these supers 😂
This game needs a remastered or at least a sequel with alot of old rappers in it this game was so fun back then 😀😀😀👌🏽💯
Definitely one of the best games from the PS2 era. These new Pussifed developers could never create greatness like this game ever again.
Tell Em!!!
They can’t because it’s more about licensing and actually paying the celbrities
"Pussified"? Huh?
I laughed so hard when Max called Pockets "Buttons." (≧▽≦)
I always liked coming back to this game when my PS2 still worked. Miss it so much. It made it feel like the fighting game was like an RPG. Very cool.
The story mode was very RPG like
Ah yes Method Man the Ryu of the Def Jam series
Genuinely a joy to see this uploaded. Def Jam has some unbelievably brutal supers, so seeing Max see one of PlayStation 2's finest is quite the treat.
This is one of my favorite childhood games and Max rating the super moves is insane. I'm so grateful omg
His play through on Twitch was amazing to watch
Max’s reactions to the character quotes😂 😂..but this game right here is 🔥💯…A 10 out of 10.. You can tell they put maximum effort into this one
My biggest takeaway from this video is remembering that Carmen Electra exists.
This game is soooooo awesome! I played the living hell out of it back in the day. My favorite finishers were the jump rope and pogo stick ones. And you're right, they were very expensive to buy and you had to complete all the missions after the story mode ended to get them.
Def Jam Vendetta had 2 supers per character. Hoping to see him do a Rate The Super for that one too. Also, this is like the 6th time asking for a Street Fighter EX3 RTS.
Yeah it was a front and a back finisher for all characters
That’s why I loved dmx
FFNY reused a lot Vendetta finishers but it does miss some..
I'm so glad he gave WC's finisher that score lol I always used that one
Love these Rate The Super videos man, there's just something bout em.
FFNY is my favorite game of all time honestly. The atmosphere, the presentation, the gameplay, the music, all of it was so, SO perfect.
Crip walking in your finishers should be standard.😂
West Si-eedd!!👐🏾
Love the use of Max Anarchy music in the video. Lowkey miss playing it.
Aside from Snoop Dogg and the dude from Fast and Furious I have no idea who any of these characters are so I can say without bias that this game looks amazingly fun

This is one of those games that DESERVES a follow up or at least a remake. Great game.
Used to play the shit out of this game on my cousin ps2 and later on emulators.
I always build my CAC with these 4 which are my favourites:
14:00
17:08
35:19
36:28 - Street Respect is my favourite blazin' in this game despite being the most basic. i love this so much that i trained it a lot when a kid to reproduce it in somebody in an eventual fight, LOL
Busta Rhymes' Blazing Move was always my go-to in this game lol
To add context to C.O.M.P's The Man With The Hand (the one where he says he's eating a bunch of doritos). C.O.M.P actually has a deformed hand but the implication is that he's choking you out with said hand. C.O.M.P is an actually rapper and one his bodies of work is named The Man With The Hand. The move makes more sense on a custom character.
Been waiting for this one, had so much fun as a young-in, creating my character and going through the story. I always loved the supers lol.
Missed opportunity calling it Rate the Blazin'.
But still, thank you for playing this and glad you enjoyed it. This game was great and a blast to play at parties!
So glad your doing this. One of my favorite games ever. Has replay value to this day
35:49 using your opponent as a pogo stick is so damn creative! this attack is awesome!

Just see you rate the supers on this just made my night, I used to play this alot with my older brother and uncle on the PS2 when I was little
This game is still one o' my favorite fighting games of all time.
I still keep it in an emulator to replay it from time to time.
This game was feels like a fever dream to me. Been so long since I've played this game
It feels like this game is very underrated and I don't think not enough people talk about it this game these days
Should've had Steve collab on this one. Would love to hear his take on these because it's one of his favorite games.
yeah come on max we feel the need
THE NEED FOR STEEB
This game still remains to be one of my top five favorite games
Blaze's and Nyne's were way better in Vendetta. Blaze did basically a backbreaker into an inverted F5, while Nyne jumped into the air, holding the guy with his legs, did a backflip and landing with a Pedigree
And Joe Buddens front super was a lot better in my opinion too.
This issue with nyne is that there is no build up to that pedigree and in my opinion it doesn't fit him. I do still think it should of made it into the game.
Never did I think one of my favourite people would be playing one of my favourite childhood games. Awesome, nice one Max!
