You are blessed to find housing pretty easily in the UK. Here in France, in the city I am in you can look for housing for so long without success especially when you are coming from abroad. When I think about the things I regret coming to France with (in my case not physical things but emotionally and mindsetwise) I don't even know where to start.
The red oil, put it on a wooden surface not bare floor so it doesn't change it's taste.
And it can stay for over a year

in London 1h30min is the a reasonable work travelling time but then again there a lot of people who work in London but leave outside London and even the direct train is about 45 minutes not counting the time to actually get to the train station. But then again my cousin had a boss who lived in France and took the Eurostar to go to work and return on the same day from Monday to Friday.

Yeah, from the house tour, I could tell that it was nearly built and for personal use.
I got a furnished house in the UK 🇬🇧 but the major thing that the house did not come with was blender 😢 so there was nothing wrong with you carrying your blender o.
