Crabs are stereotypically red too. Planktons are algae and are green. Sponges are stereotypically yellow as well (as he's visually more like a dish sponge than a real sea sponge). Starfish are stereotypically pink or red. In other words, yeah this "theory" holds no real merit, especially given just how many different opposing representations each color can have (like red for example, has a ton of both negative and positive meaning). Color theory in general is kinda stupid.

People might think this is reaching but this is actually what character designers have to think about. Even graphic designers need to have an explanation for their color palettes when they make a simple ad.
In the older seasons he was. Obviously not in modern Spongebob. Now he's only ever really portrayed as dumb. Personally when thinking of the characters personalities I only ever really think of how they were in the older seasons because there seemed to be more character to them, they were a bit more complex. Patrick was still seen as dumb in older seasons but it was way less exaggerated as it is in modern Spongebob and at least in older seasons Spongebob and Patrick were more naive and not so much just plain stupid. In newer seasons it might be a different story though.

You know, talking about how every color on each characters' palettes come together to inform the "feel" of the character, while giving examples of art with similar color schemes to the characters.
I know Mr. Krabs doesn't always wear the same outfit but I feel like there's something with his fully blue outfit to consider, especially since it takes up more of his visual expression than his body, maybe minus the claws. could be related to his personality, but more than likely it's just the fact that he uses his clothes to define a certain expectation of himself outside of how he truly acts. Is Plankton Green? He seems way more Spring than Green, he's pale and dark which lowers contrast but still, let me pull up the RGB to verify... OK so 83-99-123 is like, right between Green and Spring actually, some sort of Quaternary between them. I'll go with the idea that he's Green for ya. uhhh patrick isn't Pink unless you live in like, the early 2000's, he's blatantly not Pink. But sure I'll grab his RGB as well. ...OK I think the Pink thing got to me too. Because he's Red. *I* thought he was Fuchsia. But actually his shade of red is slightly closer to Orange than to Fuchsia (not by much but still). Also what? Pink is "chill and lighthearted"? What are you on about lol Pink is one of the most intense colours in existence, and Red is its main rival, which is what Patrick's colour actually is. Funny that Patrick and Mr. Krabs are the same colour and yet their colour psychology is entirely altered by saturation rather than by hue, with paler saturations definitely being more chill. But you didn't take that into account because you got the colours wrong @_@ But yeah I feel like you tried to make the colour ("Pink") match the character very adamantly with Patrick, pretty much just listing off Patrick's character as if we're supposed to agree that it matches up with his colour. Sandy is in a similar situation to Mr. Krabs clothing-wise except not only is there an atmospheric difference between when she is and isn't wearing her space suit, but also the colour Brown (More of a shade since Brown is basically the dark version of every warm colour from Fuchsia to Chartreuse but I getcha) is SO MUCH LESS PROMINENT unless she's in her bathing suit. Not that White exactly has a notable hue, but it still has colour psychology of its own. And honestly achromatic hues such as White, Gray, and Black feel like they have that "dependable" quality more-so than Brown, which I just see as Earthy (which makes sense because when more of her brown is shown off, it's in a place that looks more like nature as we know it on the land's surface, including a brown-wooded tree). This explanation had the same issue as Patrick's tbh. 5:23 Turqoise? That's like, quaternary between Aqua and Spring, right? I don't know why you got so specific when you have trouble saying the word Turqoise you coulda just said Aqua or Spring. Really he's closer to Spring than Aqua, though let's be real his palette is so pale that it's kind of hard to tell. 5:29 OK yeah this definitely feels like you just tried to explain Squidward instead of the colour. It doesn't not suit Turqoise but it doesn't suit Turqoise as well as Squidward, especially the random inclusion of "mix of emotions" At least Yellow seems correct, and you ended off on a positive message
Well every Color has it's main TENDENCIES, but recognizing that would be the same as being a dick. You don't say green is blue UNLESS there's an economic bias behind. And SpongeBob isn't always Yellow because....
