I hang back too. You can still find really good things waiting. That is why you do so well because you are so kind. It shows through. God is blessing you for being good to his people! 😊
I recently went to the bins for the first time. It wasn’t nearly as overwhelming as I feared. It was pretty chill actually. My biggest tip is to double or triple check each item before checking out. I did look at each piece but apparently not closely enough because when I got home I found so many flaws! Check to make sure all buttons are accounted for, that zippers work, look at each surface of the garment for snags and holes. It’s natural to miss things because at that point of the day you’re exhausted, but it’s worth taking the time to look carefully.
Thank you for your advice and information. Also, thank you for your sweet spirit. It is pleasing to many and especially to the Lord. ❤ I have been to the GW bins once. I am working up my bravery to go back. 😂🎉 I didn’t have a bad experience but it’s very busy.
I’ve never been to the goodwill outlet. The closest one’s to me are 2 hours away, but I plan on going in a couple of weeks. One requires wearing gloves so I need to find a thin pair. I have been to the Amazon returns bins and didn’t like the crowds, noise or the crazy racing around. I went back to the wall with my cart several times to take deep breaths and relax. Thanks for your tips, I’ll definitely use them when I go to the goodwill outlet. I sell plush so I hope I find a lot!
My bins are 30 minutes away, and I go once a week (Monday or Friday) armed with reusable shopping bags, my water bottle, a full battery on my phone (for comps and Google Lens), antibacterial wipes (can't wear gloves), and an empty trunk. I do not go until after 12 because my anxiety tells me there's too much chaos earlier in the day, and my location normally only do one more swap out of bins while I'm there. I'm like you, I stay off to the side/in the back, and I go very slow and often find amazing things, just by taking my time, digging deep (found Eileen Fisher and Anthropologie last week at the bottom), and checking everything. I also go to people's throwbacks and have friended a couple girls who bring me anything that they decide to not keep. Anything that I think might be good, I throw in my cart and before leaving, I find a place to myself that I can do all of my comps. We have the "t-shirt bros" too, and I watched them the last two weeks, throw clothes in the air, and make tiktoks and I'm guessing they have their own items that they're looking for, but I don't get it. I'm generally there for a minimum of 2.5 hours and have found that my COG is running between $1.20-$1.60 per item if I'm averaging everything. **TIP**Don't be afraid to check bins with items that you might not normally source. I don't typically look for purses, but I picked up several Ipsy Makeup bags in those bins a few weeks ago and sold all of them within 3 days of listing, I probably didn't pay $1 for all of them, but made a hefty profit because they were gothic themed and the right people were looking.
I feel your pain!😂. I love going to the bins and I stand back to wait for the vultures to move on before searching. Great info! I was so intimidated the first couple of times I went to the bins.
Everyone seems to go to the middle of the row and I like to walk not run to the end of the row. I like to look for bins where the clothes don’t have tags from the regular goodwill. Sometimes I find really great stuff in those bins I think it has been directly donated and has not spent four weeks at the regular stores first. I also get to the bottom like you and the back corners and I like to look at plain looking shirts etc which sometimes look like nothing but end up being Lululemon. I also glance at the stuff that fell on the floor as people were tossing things around because I have found Lululemon on the floor several times. It is fun but exhausting for sure.
I would go but too far and I dont have a car. Looks interesting!! People are finding nice brands. I can't believe you found Channel!! So lucky. I hope you get into the newspaper.
I have to travel to go to the bins. My closest is 90 miles away-it is small and really not fabulous. I try to plan a few times a year thrifting trips to a Portland,Oregon or Seattle Washington. I am fortunate I have been able to make those an overnight (or two) with family members and we sneak other fun things to do. But because of this I really try to make it worthwhile. I have to have the mindset that I must take what the bins offer, all seasons, always hoping for a good amount!
I need an emotional support water and Diet Coke. Also, along the vein of peppermint, when we lived in South Africa, I always carried Vicks with me and often would just casually swipe it under my nose. So handy.
What is emotional support water? Wow very interesting, I have a cat !! And drink too much coffee. A veggie chef used to talk about drinking peppermint oil---would probably need to be the high end stuff not sure
So smart! I wouldn’t recommend drinking peppermint oil, but I do like to throw peppermint or fruity or herbal tea bags in my water bottles for some fun flavors.
I have a question for you... how do you determine shipping costs on ebay? Do you weigh your items first and use that dollar amount ? I am super new to ebay and your videos are informative!
I weigh my items and know my package dimensions. Then I use calculated shipping. That determines the price for me based on where I live and where the buyer lives and the weight and size of the package.

So smart. Take breaks when it gets overwhelming!
Sometimes I'll grab something that needs to be 'rescued' and donate it to a thrift shop with a really good mission. 😂
I love that!

Me too! It can be so overwhelming. But also so much fun!

Great video! I have been thinking about doing the bins for the first time, but i am working up the courage, and the nearest one is 3 hrs from me.

Such a great perspective! And I love taking someone along and turning a sourcing trip into a fun time away!

@JenntheReSeller thank you!
I would love to go to a really large goodwill or bins but none around here....there is one in Boston but it's far.
Way back dont know if still there but in Cambridge used to be by the pound maybe on weekends, had cool dresses and vintage
Yes!!! I remember that from the 80's. It was the best!!!
Oh wow!
Glovers are mandatory in our local bins.
Interesting. I wonder if that’s common.
