EastIdahoNews.com and Ashley in Idaho Falls and Pocatello are partnering to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
We recently received an email from Shelby Murdock, the owner of Snake River Strings Co. in Blackfoot. She wrote:
Dallin Polatis is a 16-year-old guitar student at our school. He takes weekly private lessons and is the best student. His teacher challenges him every week, he takes the critique and improves without a complaint.
He has been telling his guitar teacher about his friend at Snake River High School who has Down syndrome and even though they have differences, they have become close friends lately because of their shared love for the electric guitar.
Dallin has been playing music for and teaching this special friend during downtime at school. His friend does not own a guitar and has been wanting one for months now. It’s all he can talk about! He wanted one for Christmas so bad and talked non stop about it to Dallin at school before the break. When they got back from the Christmas break, Dallin noticed this friend was sad. Dallin found out that he did not get a guitar for Christmas.
Dallin scraped together some cash and came to our store to buy an electric guitar, amp and a cord with cash (over $300 worth) and left. I didn’t know why he was buying the guitar until I talked to his guitar teacher and found out that he was buying the guitar and accessories for this special needs friend from school.
This 16-year-old young man is such an incredible example for us all. He’s not obsessed with himself or showing off his incredible guitar skills - he just wants to help others play music too.
We decided to surprise Dallin for Feel Good Friday - and Snake River Strings Co. had a special surprise for him too. Watch the video above!

His parents raised him well. Give because you can't take with you
Who ever raised this young man, kudos to you! What a selfless thing he has done without wanting recognition or videoing it and putting it on social media, he stands out among his generation! Job well done, thank you for raising a contributing member of society!!
I'm always suspicious of people who do good deeds and tell everyone. much prefer to do it anonymously.
Amen!
Right!! And he works on a farm. That's not an easy job.
A simple act of kindness goes a long way❤
Amen
This young man deserves what he got and a hug. Being a disabled person myself this touched me. We need more like him :)
Whoa. 107 likes. Didn't expect that :)
Their are alot like him out there,,, it just doesn't go on the internet
Your are correct I’m a 54 year old disabled GOD BLESS
Yall gonna get me crying! God bless!
I agree we definitely need more young people like him in this world
Oh I loved this! I especially love that he never even mentioned the friend has special needs. He just sees him as his friend. ❤
True that!!
With so many kids facing challenges, and disabilities ,it warms my heart to see others treating them with respect …Good job to that young man ,his family has done amazing job raising him with great values ..
that touched me, deep when i heard of it. i have special needs and Thank God for Friends, who don't limit you to your special needs, and always supportive.
Thanks for bringing that to our attention, I hadn't really noticed that, but you're right .... I think that makes that lovely young man extra special.
Yep he didn’t give it to him because he “felt about about his special needs” he gave it to him because he’s a great friend.
I know why the kid followed him around, because this kid would give him the time of day and not to set him up or make fun of him but to see him as an equal,as a friend. It makes me wonder about the rest of the kids in that school. We are all just people here and there are way too many out there that care little for humanity. It's easier and feels better to get along than it does to hurt and fight others. Good job kid.
Yes it does.
I think most people/kids are good. I have no doubts the kid gets made fun of, but hopefully the good far outweighs the bad.
His mum and dad should be so proud.
Now that's what I call a role model. No wonder his friend follows him around at school. Despite his disability, he knows who to trust. I wish him all the best in his life. He deserves it.
What a good kid. Not surprised he’s the son of a farmer. 👏🏼
Salt of the earth.
What does being the son of a farmer mean? I grew up in the country and there are some pretty nasty farmers.
I guess I'm a horrible person then lol ANYONE can be good or bad.
I'm not surprised either. Farmers work in the physical world and just get the job done with no show or accolades. Generally the case with people who work with their hands. At least that's my experience.
???????
this is the kind of guy you want your own teenager to date!
There's a good man to sail with
An outstanding, hard working, caring, giving young man!
Well done to the parents who raised this young man .
put a smile on an Aussies face half way around the world
Thr smile will go away the second you come across one of.those giant spiders yall have to deal with down there lmfao
@@Michael-mv3kc I'm also in Australia, those big spiders just protect up from the giant mosquitos.
Gday’ mate from the US
Get that Led out 🤘🤘🤘 What a great story!!
Hi how are you doing?
What an awesome young man and great friend!!
What a fantastic answer “just because, he makes me smile” well done mom & dad !
Nice.
What an honorable young man. I see great things happening for him in his future simply because he is so likeable, humble, and obviously has a huge heart. I'm so glad he was honored and that both he and his friend will get three months worth of guitar lessons from that establishment as well. This really brought a huge smile to my face, so thank you!!
ROCK ON!
Props to the music teacher for saying something too.
This young man is proof that there are wonderful people in the world. He didn't promote himself by posting this on some social media, he didn't even tell his parents, he just did it. A pure, generous soul. He deserves all the best! And I was even happier listening to the song he played. Kashmir, one of Led Zeppelin's masterpieces 😊❤
Heart Warming--the fact that this young man reached out and gifted a guitar and other accesories to a young man with special needs is freakin awesome !!
And said nothing about it, wow.
What a sweetheart ❤️
🎶 🎸 🎶
Hi how are you doing?
This is how i hope my son will be
FINE young man! His friend will be a friend for life….
what a great story
Every time life kinda kicks me in the butt and I get a little down, I see a kid like this and my faith in humanity is restored. Hats off to him and his folks.
I appreciate young men like this. His parents need to be commended. Also Nate, what an incredible thing to do for a community. This is what news should be about. I’m from out of your state but subscribe to your channel because it is such an uplifting and encouraging thing to watch

@@cnatview Thank you so much
please spread Love and Kindness
How sweet! So glad you recognized a giving teenager🙏🏻🥰❤️
Don’t forget the “carb cutter” some may say especially his mama that he is a totally bodacious young dude(said in an 80’s surfer voice)
This dude is so humble. I love that he didn't brag about his actions on social media or call the news himself. This is what doing good deeds is all about, not the recognition.
God tells us that "when you give in secret He will Reward you openly"
This is a perfect Example of That 🙌
God bless EIN and everyone involved in this and God Continue to bless this young man and keep his heart 💖💞💖
Thank you for posting this
@@ariellesoullighting4309 Your welcome...... it's just the Truth 😊
As the parent of a disabled adult now son this makes my heart smile. There’s not a lot of teenagers like him out there. When my son was in school he did have a couple of friends that were really nice to him.
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
I hope there is more.
With his attitude he will go far. 👍
What A Wonderful Selfless Young Man.
This is incredible! I'm not crying -it's raining in my office!
MAJOR KUDOS to everyone involved!!
This teen, for buying the guitar for the teen that he had befriended;
This teen's parents, for raising & instilling terrific values/morals in this fantastic young man;
East Idaho News, for giving this teen the recognition that he wholeheartedly deserves (but was not seeking);
and to Snake River Strings, for also stepping up and rewarding this teen - along with his friend - with some free music lessons!!
This story truly warms the heart!! 💖
With all the awfulness these days especially for you all in Idaho this SO beautiful & heartwarming. This restores my faith in humanity & in the younger generation.
God bless this young man for doing the right thing ❤️❤️
Hello 👋 how are you doing?

A genuine good guy right there. Selfless, caring and giving. He was clearly raised well and has a kind heart. Great story !
Farm kid
Now that there's a great young man! =)
What a fantastic kid - I couldn’t help but notice he referred to him as his buddy he didn’t point out that he was different than anybody else just that he was his buddy.
He almost gives me hope for the future. We need to hear more about kids that do things like this.
👍
Good man
PRAISE GOD!! AWWW MY HEART! GOOD ON THAT YOUNG MAN🥰👌💯🙌
Hi how are you doing?
Cool buddy
I like that the music school also stepped in. Lessons are not cheap so three months is a great savings for these kids. Most of all doing good brings good.
What an amazing young man! The fact that he went above and beyond for his friend with DS and didn't even tell family, shows what a wonderful young man he is. I was very touched by this story because I too have a disability! His parents must be wonderful people and so proud!
This young man's parents are raising a damn good man.. making choices as he is, he is on the road to being an amazing asset to this world !
Andy , he's a Godly man ✝️
amen

Young man, how wonderful you are.
His parents raised him well. What an inspiration he is. This touched my heart . Keep being an inspiration you just may change how some high school kids are even if it's one person that would be such a blessing.

What a great young man!! Faith in humanity restored!
What a wonderful young man. He was very kind to buy his friend a guitar when he wanted one. I hope his friend can learn how to play and nice of the store to give some free lessons to both of them. This is what life whould be like. Help people in need.

Yes...a leader!

You don't have to do "big things" in this world... just showing Love like this is what it's all about. Blessings to this young man, we need more souls like his.
I love seeing the good that people do. Shows the love and faith in humanity. This young man will go far in life
There is hope for the world. Thanks Dallen!❤

What an awesome thing to do. God Bless you young man.
This young man deserves a million thanks! God bless you Dallin!!! ❤❤❤❤
Brings tears to my eyeballs 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
What a wonderful young man who has a big heart. I hope that his parents know just how good a job they did in raising him to be a son to be so very proud off. The youngsters get a bad press for being up to no good, vandalising the place, getting drunk and making older people scared to go out, because we have that here in Scotland as well, but it is the rotten few that gives them all a bad name. This young man has shown that they aren't all alike and that there are still good children being brought up that are caring and thoughtful, that want to do something to bring a smile to someone else and boy did he do that for this young man, thank you Dallin for the kindness in your soul. Norah, Scotland
What an awesome young man. ❤
The world needs this young man!
What a precious young man!
I am disabled myself and we need more people like this. Too many people don’t give us the time of day and it’s very sad. We have personalities, too.
Very nice young man! God bless him, his friend, and the store staff
What an amazing wonderful kind young man!
This made me cry what a good kid
What a kind and generous friend, we need more young men like him. The whole time he was being interviewed I kept thinking, stand up, stand up. Ha.
What a cool kid.
What a great kid!
Hi how are you doing?
OMG! 😢😢😢. This young man is gold. His parents must be so proud. I'd take a kid like this over a top scholar/ athlete any day of the week! Kindness rules the world.
What a sweet soul to help his friend. I'm sure his kindness meant the world to him. I love how he said his friend is just funny and makes him smile.❤I hope their friendship lasts a lifetime and they play some great music together.
Thank you to East Idaho News for showing uplifting stories (love the Secret Santa stories!) and also to Dallin for being such a nice person!
