- Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. As some of you may know, I currently have the Ford Ranger Raptor to review, but I actually got the chance to have a quick drive in said car back in September. Here is the video from that short experience, stay tuned for the full review, which should come before the end of the year.
What is the Ford Ranger Raptor? Well, it's one of the most badass pick up trucks money can buy in the UK right now. With a 150mm wider track than the standard Ranger, the Raptor is more beefed up, more aggressive, and more rugged. For example, each corner features a chunky BF Goodrich all terrain tyres, and attached to them are shock absorbers made by Fox.
Those two components alone, should be enough to tell you what kind of beast this is. The Raptor is designed to go anywhere, at any time, whether that's going through a forest or attacking the sand as if you're doing you own little Baja rally.
Sadly, though the engine is a little weedy. It's a 2.0 litre four(!) cylinder EcoBlue diesel. It produces 'only' 213hp and 500Nm of torque. This power is mated to all four wheels via a 10-speed auto.

This is on my list when my numbers on the Euro lottery come up ;)
It's not a workhorse, nor is it built to be, it is the weaker of the 3 Ranger's, but it's built for off-road rallying, taking on the Baja 1000, hence the Baja mode.
True, its payload capacity is not as high as other Rangers, but it's still a pick up truck at the end of day, therefore I still think it can serve as a workhorse, even if its design is more performance. Yes, it does have the Baja mode, but how many of Raptor owners - particularly those in the UK - is actually going to use it?
@@CarObsession Agreed, most people, especially in the UK will never use it for much serious off-road stuff, but the Raptor is built more as a rally vehicle and not farmyard work with only a 2.5 T tow weight. It can be used as such but isn't built to be a workhorse.
Great First Drive Review. Great Location For The First Drive. I'm Guessing You Were At A Recent Media Event For Motoring Journalists
Yeah, this was actually from an event back in September - thanks for watching 👍🏽.
Great review. I am buying one in Jamaica.
Lucky you👍
9:07 Now this is what I wanted to see. Thanks! :)
It did a lot better than what I expected, to be honest. If you're into the occasional justified sidewalk invasion, this is the right vehicle for you. Not that regular vehicles would do much better on those tight streets, though.
😉
You don't have a clue ,winging it all the way
You better leave the Raptor to "drivers" and stay with your Corolla
That's funny, last time I checked, I don't have a Corolla. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Best review of a ranger on RUclips!
Thank you! There'll be a more thorough review coming before the end of the year, so stay tuned! Thanks for watching.
I agree, subbed :-)
