Definitely see the appeal. ...but the lack of security in the back...end up getting a box. ..then its like a van.......happy driving.

Nice, kudos! Reasons you picked this up is the reason for moving to a Defender from an M3 for me. M’s are great, but carting camping gear and bikes for 20 years is limiting. Looking forward to more videos of your adventures.

The Defender is a great vehicle. Ranger Raptor is a great vehicle. When the Defender 130 model comes out, if LR don’t offer single & dual cab utility versions of it, the aftermarket industry certainly will.
No they won’t! The work involved in changing a monocoque body into a ute and there being so many fiddly electronics is reason enough. I can guarantee there will not be the demand for it either. The Defender is an SUV that can go off road. You need a vehicle with a real off road base to start with.

In 2018, besides total New SUV sales of 495,000 units, another 230,000 new sales were Utes. # 1 best seller was Toyota HiLux with 52,000 sales. 2nd best seller was Ford Ranger with 42,000 sales. Since then, Utes and SUV have become more popular here, and sales of the top versions of the Utes that sell here for over $ 70 k have gained more popularity. FYI, the Ranger Raptor that Charlie purchased was developed in Australia. The Ranger Raptor has been a huge worldwide success for Ford. The very large Dodge Ram and Chevrolet Silverado are also now available in Australia with excellent RHD conversion. At prices between $ 90 k and $ 140 k they are selling very well. Previous Defender was very popular in Australia over many years, and in the single and dual cab utility versions of the 130. The worldwide utility market is huge, and gaining popularity. The previous Defender single and dual cab utility versions were popular in the UK. Vehicles like the Ranger Raptor are now bringing more buyers to this type of vehicle in the UK. The Amarok started the trend of bringing car like comfort etc to this type of vehicle. In USA, Ford F-150 , Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram etc etc from Toyota & Nissan etc would sell over 2 million units per year. There is huge demand in Australia and many other countries for single and dual cab Defender 130. If JLR don’t build it, I guarantee that after market companies will build Ute variants of Defender 130. People will pay to have this type of Defender.

Not a Defender hater but a reliability lover that's why the Raptor will be a far better vehicle. I was all for buying a Defender SWB but not after seeing all the problems with the 110 people have had.
When you do a side-by-side comparison, park them close together for comparo pics! PLEASE!!! The Raptor has presence bar none!!!

Perhaps one more question. I heard a few owners complaining about "power" on the highway/motorway. By power I mean, it lags especially when you try to overtake. What has been your experience thus far?

Unfortunately does not look as good as the defender. It will be good to see the off-road comparisons. I think it will be safe to say the defender will win. But it will also be good to compare reliability. Good video.
Ranger Raptor > Defender
Ranger raptor is not offroad car - its looks like, thats it. Have one - this is plastic computer toy for big boys. Make lot of FUN on The Road but its not offroad car . Defender is an offroad car .defender can be use in mud raptor no way this toy getting stock above 30 cm . Offroad car - hahahaha .

That's all very American, are we heading that way, currently it would seem so. An £800 hatchback with a bike rack will carry a bike just as well. Although if you have the money to burn then I can see it would be harder to choose the poor man's choice.
Fair point. I could have bought a bike rack for the defender but they don’t currently offer one and there is something so nice about just being able to chuck the bike in without the faff :-) tbh for the price I got for this it was a no brainier!
