Hoping they at least put the 2.7L V6 gas ecoboost in the US if it comes to this side of the pond. Or at least a higher performance version of the 2.3L 4cyl EB.
I was out on 4x4 weekend and surprised how often it bottomed out vs a 2018 HiLux also on the tour. I don’t know the difference in height and thought they were the same. Surprised. Love the Raptor as does my mate, but fitted out with accessories, close to 100k. That is a LOT of money.
For me there is just 1 mayor flaw in the Raptor. I live in Europe, where children have to be seated in the rear. But I also like to hide some smaller items below and behind the rear seat. But as the rear seat is not 40/60% foldable There is no way to reach these spaces without removing the Isofix chair. And it also means that carrying items in the rear have to be placed on the nice seats. And not on top of the fold down backrest. So yes it's a very nice big-boys toy. But how to justify this missing option to the wife? Other 4x4 like the Amarok do have split seats. Also I cannot understand why it doesn't have the option of adaptive cruise control. By the way, your comment about the accesability of the engine parts is correct and original.
This ute has gone down a path of it's own, awesome off road suspension that would be worth $10-15k+ easy on its own with no tuning, and a lighter engine which allows for (more) awesome off road fun. Most people I see driving ute in Aus regularly carry little more than 9/10ths of a fart in the tub, so towing and power isn't an issue; buy something that is as fun offroad as a sports car is on the road. Or complain that the engine doesn't have 30% less power whilst weighing 30% more, if you hate new stuff. Kudos to Ford Australia for this one, great idea! Can I please have one for me and/or wifey?
Robert torque is not everything, a 2l is not rly designed for this. A turbo will give you the missing performance on the paper but never become so durable as a larger one. You do not necessarily need a v8 in every truck/car but at least for trailers and heavy users a lil bit more ccm like a v6 will give you a benefit in service costs and wouldnt need much more fuel.
@@hannes2289 10 years ago i would agree but modern turbo engines are solid and lighter. Mind you the future is electric.. insane power and torgue like the tesla is just around the corner...
@@robert7622 If you dont break the engine then just the turbocharger. Modern cars have become much better in terms of technology, but they are far from being as solid as the used to be, cause of saving material, costs and weight everywhere. We have more highly engineered engines, the liter output has increased dramatically... the resulting higher temperatures ans loads reduce longevity. If you drive a 2l engine with trailer up a mountain you can feel the difference to the 3l engine. The smaller one has to work much more, needs a highter engine speed and the turbo is under continuous load whereas the bigger motor can handle the load way more confidently. At the gas station you notice that the consumption is only minimally different, because the large machine can usually work at a lower speed. I see it on my daily driver (golf) i drive it with 4,5l/100km (52 mpg) the 1.4l or 1.6l engine isnt more efficient but i would have to give it more often full throttle. In my opinion the ranger raptor is to heavy for a pickup with this engine, but on the other side he isnt rly a work truck so for this the motor could be okay cause you have less payload (performance suspension). F150 raptor goes the same direction rlly nice car, in my opinion 3,0-3,5l would also be enough for the most work trucks but the main reason why they dont need a big ccm monster is its a sporty version with less payload and towing capacity. If you could load a ton+, there would certainly be somebody pushing it throught the gronds just as a empty vehicle and break something. To prevent this the payload was simply limited for this version with different suspension.
@@hannes2289i agree with your assessment on engine displacement it really shows up when you are loaded and towing in utes with lesser litreage, when unload the utes have better fuel economy but when loaded there fuel burn goes right out the window.
You did not pike the interior design? I know it’s subjective but can you name a midsize SUV/ pick up truck in far east asia which has better interior design?
I have a Ranger Raptor, there is no Lane departure, lane assistance, or adaptive cruise on this. Maybe on the 2021s not sure, but not on the 2020 model.
The Raptor needs the 2.3L EcoBoost that they put in the ranger in north America. It's mated to the same 10 speed automatic, but it gets up and goes at any speed and overtaking vehicles at highway speeds is a piece of cake.

Hi can i ask.. about the wading depth. What if for exampke i put the car in the middle of the river for about an hour with water height of 800mm. Does the water will go inside the car cabin?
I recently bought a raptor and I think it’s brilliant, it’s my daily driver my only complaint is ford should have had a coyote purchase option or even the 2.7 mustang eco boost like the American ranger series has factory
I am wondering why FORD didn’t do the TOUGH TEST for the Raptors which they did from the previous Ranger 3.2L. I am pretty sure Raptor won’t last especially for the 24hour continuous test run, drop test, the tree truck reverse pull, 90 degrees hauling, water wading, etc etc.
I don't know why they make such a big deal about the engine needing a mechanic, any modern vehicle has a complicated engine this one is no different, how many times does an engine let you down off-road ?, hardly ever it's mechanical that breaks, and the 4WD mechanical is one the best on the market on this vehicle.
I wonder how long those turbos will last? In my opinion, people just want the look, not the over-priced cost. I think Ford should have made the Ranger Raptor a variant of the current 3.2L platform, with the Raptor look. (Price it just above the Wildtrak) Ford should also bring out the REAL Raptor - for people who are happy to spend the money on the real thing.
They even have issues with the 3.2 siingle turbo wild track. How much the bi turbo. I have known a wildtrack owner here and it's really a pain for him. Still under warranty because it's barely a year when he got it. But according to him, the dealership won' t honor the warranty and charge him for the whole cost of the replacement turbo. And months have passed before the pick up is running again. What a painful experience. Poor guy.
Anybody that says the engine is too small clearly hasn't driven one. I brought one today and it gets along with surprisingly ease. The power level is completely adequate
Thanks for your video ! :-) That's a let down with that engine.. should be a full out proper 3 or 4L turbo petrol engine IMO.. or at least a 6L turbo diesel..

I really love it, of course i would like it to be v6 or v8. but with its tuned modes, high amount of gears and bi-turbo, compared to standard 4wd, it's kicks ass. If you want to do any real 4x4ing and even consider getting mods, get this, as you will save a lot on mods. its all the little things you get with this you wouldn't realise until you went to somewhere like ARB and cost it out. like, Rear lockers, diff breather, hill decent, hill start assist(get out and check your lines on a slope), 240volt plug in the back seat, power point in the rear tub, just about the best shocks you can get, bash-plates galore and really good seats. The wheels themselves cost about $500 more than standard as these are as close to muddies as you can get in an all-terrain (fantastic BFGoodrich A/T 33"). If you do get to go test drive, get under the raptor and check out how beefed up it is, don't forget to put it in sports or baja mode for the drive.
The standard ranger seems more impressive. With the raptor , You actually pay more & get less... How big is the tub & how tall is she. I was just wondering if she might fit in the back.... Asking for a friend.... Lol

Bring it to north America (Canada and the usa)
Realtime Reviews chur mean nah u can have the amorak
As someone that owns one of these, all i can say to the haters is. go test drive one (make sure you test in sports or baha mode) and then come back and comment plz
Bowen how do you find it I’m looking to buy one and before I go to the dealership is it any good?
Colarado sportcat for me. 75thou for that , what the he'll are they thinking.
Give me the beautiful check over that Raptor, you are beautiful baby
USA gets 350kw raptor we get 157kw (which is actually less powerful than the old 147kw version)
Thats cause the us one is f150 based. The one you got is ranger based
@@tomjw7 even the u.s ranger has a better engine than ours.
@@madrx2 2.3 ecoboost? My 2005 ranger sure doesn't lol pile of crap

The standard ranger seems more impressive. With the raptor , You actually pay more & get less...
