    Have a Charvel GG 1 month old. Best instrument I ever owned between some Teles, Strats and Les Pauls. It’s a pure new level of experience and playing. I just don’t need to fight the guitar anymore when I play it since it begs to be plugged in. Tele was a very shall I say, tempered bastard that I couldn’t own it myself. She didn’t let me win her on our 15 year marriage so I sold her 😃 and raised my white flag.

    Great to finally hear Richard doing an actual review (in addition to the masterclass playing demo!). Richard's excellent presentation and informed, objective comments and information add so much more value and quality to the complete vid. Top class all the way. Thanks Richard.

    In talking with a tech support guy at Fender, he said there is an access window in the center rear plate. So this should make it easy to change strings.

    I can attest to the comfort and playability, tuning stability of this one, got it 3 months ago. The Seymour Duncan pickups worked well, but for the first time in years I modded a guitar and installed bare knuckles in the bridge and middle, as well as a radioshop paf plus in the neck. Put some gold dome knobs on from stew mac for like 15 dollars. It’s a great guitar stock, although I would not play it driven through an ac15. Clean through my Princeton fsr it’s good, but channels either 1 or 3 on the Mesa tc50 combo gets you into a new level and the guitar shines. It’s what I like to think of as a poor mans guthrie govan signature, but that’s just for laughs it’s a great little guitar in its own right.

    I tried one of these in a store today. What cannot come across in a review is how playable this guitar is. So effortless it almost feels like cheating. I also tried the Charvel Guthrie Govan. Of course it's not as good, but in terms of playability it was really, really, REALLY close ans less than one third of the price. I think I might replace my Ibanez with it

      Managed to get the exact one on January 4th. The set up from the factory was OK. The nut was slightly higher than I liked, but the fret levelling was bang on and I always take guitars to a luthier and he put a tusq XL nut in, it not has 1mm action at the 12th with NO buzzing. I own a few guitars and the one that's similar is my Ibanez AZ2402 Prestige. I hate to say this as the Charvel was half the price.... But the Charvel is better. More sonic ground, the neck is more comfortable IMO! I can't recemmend them enough, my guitar tech couldn't get over the amount of guitar you get for the price and wanted to buy it! If you can get one... GET ONE!

    When you’re talking about the tone control, is it supposed to click into place on 10? In the video it seemed as if 9 was the max then it would click into place for cutting the tone switch out on 10

    Does any know whether the baked maple fingerboard needs to be refinished if it is de-fretted/re-radiused prior to installing stainless steel or Jescar frets? I notice that the Charvel website says "hand-rubbed satin urethane" so I don't know if that means it would need re-finishing to stop it from going old-school maple mouldy. Thanks.

    I bought a charvel pro mod DK 24 red ash. And it seems like the pots aren't actually a no load tone control with the click , and also the volume doesn't seem like frictionless, pretty frictional tbh.
    I don't know if it's because it's made in korea ? Either way I'm sending it back to Thomann because it's like it was built with the wrong parts

      Yeah, man I hear you, it got most of what I want in a guitar. But the pickups are fizzy. I don’t like that sound. Might get one of these and instantly switch pickup. I don’t like guitars that sound ”whiny”. But I think the wood is correct.

    Sonically speaking, what is the main difference, or say how different is this one compared to the regular alder body dk24 hsh? I can't seem to find a lot of information on that on the internet

    • @alexjackson8841
      @alexjackson8841 2 года назад +1

      Both are great for mid range, the Mahogany is great for slightly lower end darker thicker tones while the Alder is great for more cutting trebly sharper tone. But to be honest, they both have the exact same pickups, they sound almost identical. The differences I'm talking about are so small that a lot of people probably wouldn't notice. You'll get the sound you want out of either, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the sonic differences

    I'm sure yer playing is what separates your tones from mine but..... I like the guitar but don't love the tone. You are getting a brighter tone than I'm hearing. The string definition to me isn't always there on mine. Its a little muddy at time. My biggest complaint is the fret work. Mine is TERRIBLE. I'm surprised I don't cut myself sliding up and down the neck. Don't want to pay too correct it and don't' want to take the time to do it myself. Shouldn't have to for what I paid. Others like Schecter and others do GREAT fret work for even less money but not here. I bought it online so I didn't have a chance to try it first. The rest of the build is fine but just not the fret work. I kept it but to be honest for what I paid I could do better. Too bad something thats looks so good doesn't play as well.

      Very good actually. Often, I find new guitars out of the box haven’t had their strings stretched, have traveled across the world and had the tuners all put in a straight line to be photographed (photography tuning 😆) In spite of all that, this was really easy to work with, we just didn’t want to break the flow of the demo by cutting that quick tuning adjustment out!
