    I'm really glad this mini-series is still going. I'd love to see a lot more like this in Beam, not necessarily just offroad either. Building vehicles to a certain spec, and then competing them against each other across multiple episodes in various environments which both highlight their strengths and exploit their weaknesses. This is some of my favorite content out of yall right now

      Agreed, thinking a rally/rallycross tourney with long jumps and a full tarmac/gumball style tourney similar to the drag weeks only doing a 1/4 and 1/2 miles runs then some varied circuits possibly eliminator style for the last run.

    I find it interesting just how much having a bigger vehicle helped in the race - despite the added weight, the added durability seems to help more than agility and speed did, because it means they can take risks.
    I did wonder how a full on off-road T-series might've faired, though I'm not sure how much support Beam has for parts like that. Something like that certainly would've been able to throw its weight around on the figure eight and absolutely crush the sled-pull challenge. Amy had the right idea.

    • @agentcrm
      @agentcrm 7 месяцев назад +6

      Extra weight also means landing is harder on parts. So it's a balance.
      The oversize wheels are the issues for the sedans. The hubs and suspension can't cope with the extra forces (because yes Beam calculates that)

    The "proper" name for a pulling sled is a "Weight transfer device". However, most people just call it a "pulling sled".
    No surprise Amy more or less did well with that. There's a reason most classes are defined by a maximum weight - more weight, more pull. a several ton steam traction engine geared down can, in theory, out-pull a 6200lb modified 4wd pulling truck, despite the truck having 1,000+hp to the steam tractor's...maybe 10.

    I know you may not be open to ideas, but a cool one I thought was where you after every event you do not repair your vehicle. You would complete the race and drive to the next track with identical damage to the previous, this could be cool with people strategising on whether they should have something durable or fast or a mixture. The driving strategy would also be interesting, do you go as fast as possible on the 1st race, risk damage for maximum points and then settle for mediocre positions in the rest or do you play it safe to have the final race with a fully repaired vehicle.
    I haven't played Beam so I don't know the limitations, if you can't save damage, then you'd need a map with either a few circuits close together, make layouts out of existing maps or circuits or make the drive between tracks a part of the experience (more interesting for damaged vehicles). This could also suffer with problems relating to desyncing, it is hard to strategise when the competition's visual damage is up in the air.
    I think for a 4 race format a single repair would be needed, it'd probably be boring seeing cars limping around on the last race. This idea leans towards more sensible racing however in a 'no limits' format, it'd be interesting to see whether people build cars to break others. In 'no limits' maybe survival to the final race could be the challenge.

    A concept inspired by this series could be something like this:
    Everybody chooses one base game car in its standard form, and then must manually modify it for a series of events. You may modify it for each event (races, car parkour etc), but you have a maximum number of changes you can make for the whole series, so if you over specialise too early, you may be in trouble.later

    This is really cool, so please don't take my comment as a complaint. I'm sure that such creations are very hard to create in BeamNG, and it's fun to see you all using such appliances for your races. But that sled, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be created the same as the IRL sleds used for the tractor pulls. Probably the limits of BeamNG won't allow for the proper plowing action, but those sleds have giant plows which dig further and further into the ground the further the sled is pulled. So even the immense four-engine tractors end up breaking axles, throwing rods, and all kinds of fun stuff.
    How the heck do they pay for all the necessary repairs?
