I noticed it but it didn’t ruin the video for me. Your insights about strategy and approach to enjoying this hobby is the best part of your videos. Keep it up. The commentary alone is why I watch the whole vid.
Have you tried simhub? You can add an old phone or ipad or even a monitor as a dash. If I’m playing on a monitor I tend to turn the wheel of completely
idk if you can hide the wheel, but, although it felt weird in the first minutes, it didn't bother me much, cause you're quite a great host in presenting your videos, so I just focus on what's above the horizon like I was the one playing. great work!

Anyways have a great day and it is amazing seeing you on Jakes channel from the beginning on. I remember you driving the Indy Roadster on that console (I think it was X Box?) game before the real 500. Those videos always felt so cozy!
The crash reminds me of the real CART seasons. Back then, there were plenty of similar crashes where nobody really knew why they happened. I’m sure that, at the time, the drivers and teams were just as clueless, probably wondering what had just happened! But what could they do? That’s racing. Here, like you said, it could have happened for any reason. Probably, Moreno was just letting the other driver (Max Papis) pass and was totally oblivious to what was happening behind him. But I think these kinds of mistakes and crashes are part of racing-and they certainly were in CART. It was much more fun back then, and this is a really nice touch here! 😁
Absolutely love AMS2 and it's in the best place it's ever been right now, so I'm glad to see it finally getting tons of praise. One of my favorite things about AMS2 is that It drives really well with my xbox controller and has the best offline experience of any of the racing sims out there currently IMO. Trying to race with a controller on the other racing sims I've tried did was a frustrating experience. I'd love to have a wheel again one day, but a controller is my only option for what will likely be many, many years due to being poor.
Competing against AI in AMS2 is the best, but for hotlapping Assetto Corsa's Content Manager is amazing for how quickly it fires up. I wish developers could see how handy it is to decide options in an external window to fire up instances of the actual game individually.
@@harrybirchall3308 in my experience the key to setting up a gamepad is making it so the joystick constitutes a little over 180 total degrees of rotation. I didn't know that when I first tried setting up Assetto Corsa and I burned up my tires because each joystick wag was like a robot cranking the wheel two and a half turns
32:00 CART actively fought the development of spotters in their series for a long time, like to where teams started buying regular tickets for guys to sit in a high row at an oval and spot from there, because CART wouldn’t provide an actual place for them. That included some Penske guys on the roof at Michigan or Fontana or Nazareth (one of the tracks he owned) getting moved away from there by CART. I’m not sure when or if that changed, but on the IRL side of the split spotters became essential pretty quickly with the crazy pack racing that developed on the numerous 1.5 mile tracks.
Been watching your great videos on classic races for years, mostly your AC races on obscure modded tracks, loved your insights into the scene at the time. Had no idea you enjoyed new games. Which makes sense as no one does classic content better than Reiza. Looking forward to more of your races. Watching you makes me want to try harder at being better.
With how much V1.6 has enhanced the offline experience, I'd love to see you do a 100% race in AMS2 on stream just to see how the experience is from your perspective! Great sim-racing content as always!
Love this combo...The FUSA gen 2's are even better. The feeling of the tire scrubbing in these is so good, 1.6 has made AMS2 my fave sim atm, replacing AC and RF2.
Yeah that phasing in and out with the other car fully opaque is always jarring, doubly so in VR. It’s the same in AC. Cars should be ghost-like whilst in their phasing periods.
It gets me every time! I always get an outer body experience in AC as well when the cars teleports to the pits after the race is complete. Glad I found the forced cool down lap option in CM!
Awesome video and I like that you didn't re-record it, just living with the consequences. Rare to see such good attitude nowadays. Keep up with the awesome videos.
I feel like if Champ Car had continued to exist past 2007 they would have raced here at some point. In it's final season Champ Car ran the fantastic Panoz DP01. Don Panoz also owned Road Atlanta. Interestingly in the 2000's Don Panoz also owned the other two tracks included in this update; Sebring and Mosport.
It’s not going to happen so long as the Indycars have a regular date at Barber, but I could see these cars racing on the modified final turn they built for motorcycles several years ago.
Hello GP Laps. I love your content. I am a big fan of AMS2 and would love to race you sometime. Any time Any car any circuit. Thanks for creating such entertaining content.
Great video. I remember when the older Ferrari V10 cars were there for an all Ferrari car event they did a lap in 59 seconds and change. This track is just nuts in person, no game or in car video can do the elevation changes justice. Been going every year for Petit since 2011.
did they finally figure out the problem that their UI does not work with triple screens anymore? When they changed to the new GUI in spring of this year it stopped working..
I did it. I swear they did it with this update, fuckin finally. I never jumped on the hype train with the 604 guy, neither did i go down the ironic route with Gamer muscle, i feel this one is good enough to have some serious fun.
Great stuff man, honestly I think the AI is pretty good there. I've been working at writing and improving AI for my own indie simcade racing game, and let me tell you, the pain is HUGE. Hardest thing I ever had to code in my senior gamedev experience. There are no online resources to study from beside some beginner tutorials, it's basically impossible to make the AI fit precisely all cars and racetracks, and there are endless cases to manage... Compromises have to be made unfortunately, especially when you code this stuff alone. Can't wait to get past that... Next project will be easy arcade stuff. 😅
AAA, USAC, CART, or IRL - it does not matter. North American open-wheel racing, or Indycar, has always been one of the best for me. The 80s and 90s, in particular, showed us what racing truly is, and I personally think it cannot be beaten!!!
Stumbled upon this video, like the way you done this, should make a lot of newbies very exited. I'm racing sims for 26 years already, love it. automobilista on the steam deck is just amazing... i haven't had this much open wheel racing fun on a portable device since monaco gp on the sega nomad.
Here I go with multiple comments again… 37:44 it was Toronto ‘89 and the dark red Alfa powered March of Roberto Guerrero that was sitting off to the side of the Lake Shore straight for quite a few laps when Mario came around battling another car and blasted it into another dimension. In 1990 that would have been in MGD livery.
I just watched Rush-bilista 2, starring Jake Williams, on YT theater. I highly recommend the "flick", this time the Axelson saga take us to an Indy Cart drama with brake checks and all 😂🤟
*I love your Videos* ... any chance you will develop to some more imersive setup with Helmet-(or close-by-head)-Cam and wheel in front of the screen(s) ... I´d love it!!!
39:15 - that’s odd, have you or anyone else here ever run into the AI brake checking on a straight like that before? What a bummer. Was a good race up to that point.
I think it has to do with the new blue-flag logic for the AI. Previously AI did not slow down for blue flags on straights, but from what i recall they added it to now be possible. Looks like it needs a bit of tuning on AMS2's side to take into account if there are cars behind.
I was struggling to figure out who Frost is and it turns out Norberto Fontana ran some CART races. Who knew? I only watched all of these races back then. Never noticed him.
The AI is definitely much improved. Once you do two or three races you notice every race is the same because they keep hanging in the same groups of three or four over and over again and you end up following convoys every race. Exact same Ai behaviours in this video as I was experiencing in tin top cars. I hope that behaviour that’s been there for years finally gets ironed out.
@mxracinguy5993 Actually, me neither, until this video. He apparently died suddenly from a heart attack. Any further speculation into the underlying possible causes I'll leave up to one's discretion.
I know you've been Really busy this year! But when a casual rally video is coming up, could you consider some FWD gameplay? Im super curious to see you do it!!
17:45 That phasing out is one of the most immersion breaking things in sim racing. It makes me not want to do any pitting during the race, I don't get why devs are fine with that.
I've been asking for the start/finish line to be moved back to the actual start/finish line. I hope it gets corrected, because the current invisible line is way down the track. Unfortunately AI even on the IMSA content is hit and miss per track. Hopefully with physics being in a good state they can focus more dev time in on dialing the AI in at every track so diff is more even across the board.
Isn't it a good idea if you are struggling with front lock ups to shift the brake balance rearwards a bit? It seems to help me, but maybe that's placebo 101.
Brake bias rearward could help but it might make the car difficult to slow down without spinning. In this scenario the issue was between the seat and the pedals, so some adjustments there were more appropriate
Is it true that Reiza plans to release a single player career mode for AMS2? That would be amazing. It's something what I am looking for in sim racing.
I’ll be installing the update tomorrow but not getting my hopes up. Group c I hope they fixed it. The neutered it on the 1.5 update. I saw the notes saying the did some tire fixes on the 962 🤷♂️

@ oh, didn’t know that. Good info and great video. I’ve been playing this weekend and I love the update. I did notice lots of racers not noticing you start a race with green tires, but cold brakes. I was racing at Spa and half the drivers piled up at turn 1 because the cars didn’t stop very well. Wry nice detail!
I can't believe they took the AI breaking and acceleration skill sliders out of this. It was in the beta and would be the biggest fix for so many issues. I hope they add it back.
The madness engine is junk, surprised they’ve done as good as they can. Only hope we pups be ams3 go to a different gaming engine. I bought ams2 in 2020 for CART cars. I haven’t played since 1.5, that update ruined the group c and no fixes to this car. I’d get a lot of debris left on track, pits , you never knew what you’d get , wets, 2 tire, none lol
@@GM_Sanjit_Rameshyou couldn't. These sliders were non-functional due to ongoing AI calibration, which is also the reason why they have been removed - I guess they want any reports to be with default values there.
Some of guys are just a negative source of energy really. The feature was never active in beta although present on ai. Ai is still receiving final calibration for 1.6 and till then it doesn’t make sense to enable such features.
Oddly enough, not enough skidmarks. And I truly hate the disappearing skidmarks in any session. Sometimes I purposely do a doughnut somewhere go around once come back in the donuts gone that should not happen, at least within the confines of one session.
Current IndyCars are about on par with the diesel LMP1s from about 15 years ago, and those visited Road Atlanta pretty regularly. Hell, even the DPis weren't too far behind an IR-18. It's worth taking a look at all the problem areas for crash safety (the final turn chief among them), but it's also worth a shot, right? Run a test, be tentative, and evaluate. Oh yeah, wait, Penske would rather have a street track in Fort Worth.
Love watching your channel. One of your problems is in racing, you should be either on the brake or on the throttle; it doesn't have to be full throttle of course. There should never be a time at anytime where you are coasting. If you are, then you're losing time there. In yesterdays video, I was watching your pedal use, and you do this a lot in slower more difficult corners. Hope that helps.
I think its done because in some cars if you use the hide steering wheel it also removes the dash that shows the speed and revs. So you just got a big empty hole in front of you
I must say I loath Road Atlanta with anything faster than a Fiat UNO. For me it symbolises the US love affair with "blind crests followed by sharp corners where all the accidents happen" taken to a silly extreme. I am sure it was fine when maximum speeds were around 100mph in old tin-tops, but as a fast open-wheel track it is as out of date as Pescara would be to modern F1. It is easy enough to get into a groove on the track and set good times but if anything bad happens up ahead, there is zero time to do anything to avoid becoming part of accident.
Apologies if the wheel not moving on screen is jarring! I can barely see it from my PoV and I disabled the movement so the shift lights are always visible. I'll figure something out for the next one!

I was kind of trying to avoid the absolute most cliched possibilities.
Maybe I don't know the rules. How did you get to 12th before the race actually started? You can move up?
you only must stay in line with the car directly in front of you. Odd positions inside, even outside
So in the beta you could fine-tune the AI more ? How was it
@@GM_Sanjit_Rameshyou couldn't.
@@KkRech are you thinking they are still gonna put the feature in, just not ready?
Imagine this on lfm
AMS2 has now the best AI of all sims. I did a 90 minute race at Road Atlanta two days ago and it was challenging.
Still room for improvement. That brake check was totally uncalled for.
What shifter do you use?
Heusinkveld Magshift
Oddly enough, not enough skidmarks. And I truly hate the disappearing skidmarks in any session. Sometimes I purposely do a doughnut somewhere go around once come back in the donuts gone that should not happen, at least within the confines of one session.
Disappearing skidmarks sounds great, I mean it would save on clothes washing at least!
Do the tire lock ups (feel and sound/audio) bother you or seem good?
They seem very arcade-like to me.
GP Laps is my comfort content.
Never knew AMS2 has its own radio chatter now. I wonder how it directly compares to Crew Chief.
I am using crew chief here
Kind of strange watching and seeing the virtual wheel on the car not moving with Jakes wheel. Great video sir.
I think its done because in some cars if you use the hide steering wheel it also removes the dash that shows the speed and revs. So you just got a big empty hole in front of you
Is it normal that the steering wheel does not move?
I have rotation disabled, i usually have the wheel off alltogether but the dashboard is on the wheel in this car
@@GPLaps Ah OK, for me it breaks the immersion a bit. I would leave it on, or maybe removed it completely. I still have to install AMS 2 on my PC : )
Frustrating - admire your patience soldiering on to the end - suspect you are right - AI to AI blue flag logic but failed to note you behind 😬
Very nice Video !! Just one thing that seems strange to me is the steering wheel on the screen not moving at all ... Otherwise Awsome views . Peace
I disabled the rotation because from my view i can see my real wheel and wanted to be able to see the shift lights!
Put the tire widget up so we can see the tires come up.
